Nice apartment available for perfect & peaceful vacation: Located in Nice Upper Musicians quarter on the 3rd floor of a beautifully maintained building with lift. The property enjoys stunning views of the hills of Nice and offers a very restful setting for your holiday. It is ideally situated to enjoy the city centre and beach life of Nice or to explore the delights of Cannes, Monaco, Menton, Villefranche and Italy. Ventigmiglia (no passport needed-1 hour by train). There are dining facilities for 6 with fully fitted kitchen (microwave, grill, dishwasher etc) and serving hatch. The location offers the opportunity of living in the local community while allowing you to enjoy the tourist side of Nice, beachlife and the gentle ambiance of the Promenade des Anglais . The restaurants in this quarter cater for all tastes and cultures. You can dine Japanese, traditional French, Italian, Lebanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and many others. This Nice apartment is a superb base for all requirements for your perfect vacation.
Explore the Azur by Rail: The apartment is only a few minutes walk of the main station,Gare SNCF (NICE) on Avenue Thiers and local regional station,Train des Pignes www.traindespignes.com on Blvd Malaussena to Upper Provence. Both stations give easy access to the splendours of Provence's main tourist destinations. The Gare SNCF affords you trips to Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Cannes and St Tropez to the west and east to Monte Carlo, Monaco, Menton and Italy. The regional service takes you to the lower Alps for hillwalking or to visit the enchanting fortified town of Entrevaux or the spa town of Digne. An absolutely wonderful journey as on departing Nice, the 2 carriage train takes you up a steep-climb and thunders along at a good pace through and over some 40 viaducts, tunnels and bridges and you become entranced by the magnificent vista of the Alps ahead. Visit Nice's vineyards for wine tasting from 9e's :take the local train to St Isadore, walk the 'chemin de cremat' to Domaine de Fogolar. www.vin-de-bellet.com
Explore the Azur by Bus: The local bus station, Gare Routiere, www.cote-azur.com is only 10 minutes away and the service runs to Grasse, the perfume capital of Provence and the delightful medieval fortified town of St Paul de Vence. This is a beautiful village (village perche) high on the hills where it appears time stands still and where from the battlements you can overlook the valley down below. The bus journey to St Paul takes about 40 minutes and stops at the local towns on the way but its well worth it when such a stunning location awaits. The restaurant, the Columbe D'Or has an international reputation which attracts the rich and famous. The bus journey is currently only 1 euro per person! and it's also1 euro per person for a trip along the coast to Monaco/Monte Carlo from the same bus station and takes about 1 hour. So it's well worth the journey as the bus hogs the coastal path.
Explore the Azur by Car: There are several national car rental agencies at the rail station (Gare SNCF)offering hire including HERTZ and AVIS. Car parking spaces in Nice are somewhat difficult to come by but with the car hire agents nearby a day trip is a worthwhile excursion. You can take in the village of Gordoun and the dramatic Gorges du Loup or up to the ski-slopes at Chamonix. Thereis no direct access to St Tropez (except a daily sailing in Summer from the port) so for those wishing to visit a car would be the best method. Though be aware that routes in/out of St Tropez are quite congested during the summer peak. The A8 is the main coastal road running from Cannes to Monaco and Italy is only a few minutes away from Gare SNCF. The N202 will take you out of the city and along the Var river to the Upper Provence towns of Entreveaux and Digne-les-Bains

The apartment in the Musicians Quarter is situated in the heart of Nice so allows easy access to other Riviera locations via the Gare SNCF, near the main shopping boulevard and only a 15 minute walk to the waterfront or even quicker by tram. The local train station into the Provencal hills is less than 10 minute walk. The Provencal coastal motorway is only a few minutes from the apartment. The Musicians quarter has a large variety of excellent and modestly priced restaurants should you not wish to further afield.
With the apartment located at the rear of the building, it is a deceptively quiet location. It is a residential building so does not have large numbers of holidaymakers so you can feel part of the local french community.
I would welcome any comments from guests who have stayed in my apartment. Any suggestions for improvements would be most welcome.
Good location, close to parking Thiers which was very convenient to us, modern bathroom, classic decorated rooms, maybe in the future it will be available an wifi connection but for the price i think apartment is a bestbuy.
The two of us stayed in John's apartment just a couple weeks ago for 5 days and we had an amazing time! The apartment was clean, well equipped and conveniently located close to the train station, so that made it easy to do a day trip to Monaco, Antibes or Eze. It was also a 15min walk to the Promenade des Anglais and Old Nice, which is probably where we spent the bulk of our time. John even provided us with a list of nice restaurants (which I highly recommend trying). The only minor downside was that there was no wifi available in the unit, however, there was plenty of free wifi connections in the surrounding area. Arnold (the property manager) was very friendly and met us right on time for our check-in. I would definitely consider staying here again!
The apartment was just seconds away from the train station. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big with bathtub and shower stall. We mostly walked but the tram stop was 2 min away.
We used busses at Garibaldi Square to venture to nearby villages and train to go to Monaco and Cannes.
We felt safe in the neighborhood. We also shopped at nearby grocery store located at the next block and used several supermarkets on our way back to the apartment. The kitchen had everything you need to cook and we felt almost at home.
Very close to the main train station so a handy location, also very close to a number of eateries, shops etc which is convenient. The main bedroom is unusually large, nice and comfortable. The kitchen and lounge room is pretty small but then you don't plan to spend too much time there during holidays.
10-12 min walk away from the old town which was good and not too far from the beach area.. The apartment had umbrellas and mats for the pebble beach but unfortunately we spotted them on our last day as the property manager did not tell us about it and they would have been very handy during the hot days we spent on the beach.
The neighbourhood seemed a bit rough and saw drunk lads every evening on the streets around the apartment, although not threatening in anyway but still a bit of eyesore..
Overall good place to stay !!
This apartment is probably the best location, if you don't just want to explore Nizza itself, but also the surrounding. With Nice Ville main station just one minute and Gare de Provence 5 minutes away it is easy to reach nearly every interesting point along the coast (Monaco, Cannes, Marseille) as well as the hinterland (Grasse, Provence) very easy and conveniently. Also the new tram to the beach and the old town is close-by, but you don't need it, it's just a 10-15 minutes, nice walk. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and cash points around, also a supermarket and a street market with fresh fruits and vegetables are in short walking distance. The building is clean and safe, has a huge entrance hall and offers a rather antique (but working, I love those old ones) elevator. The apartment was clean, in good condition and is reasonably furnished and equipped with enough dishes, cutlery and all the small things one could need during a stay like spicery, toilet paper etc.). Although situated close to the main station and a main street there is no traffic noise since the windows go to the back of the building. The beds were quite comfortable (we are sensible with this) and not to small. The sleeping and the living room have an portable air condition for hot days, which you don't really need if you keep the shutters closed over the day and leave the windows open at night. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and a tub. The living room is actually rather small, but still sufficient for a game on a rainy day. We didn't use the tv. There is a pass-through in the wall between the kitchen and the living room, which makes it comfortable to have breakfast or a meal there without having to carry around everything. The owner is very friendly and reliable. Also it's worth to mention that we got an A4-in-depth guide to the apartment, the building and the city in advance per email. We have never had such a good preparation with answers to all the tiny questions, one usually forgets to ask during the handing-over, like where the fuse is, what to do with garbage etc. For all matters during the stay, getting the key and so on there is a local agent, Arnold, friendly and reliable too. We enjoyed our stay and would chose this apartment again. The only thing we missed was WiFi, maybe one day this can be added. Thanks, John and Arnold, and see you again!
Excellent position for the train station therefore exploring the cote d'Azur very easy. We wanted this locations beause we love to explore and get about. 5 minutes walk from excellent shops and the tram that will take you to the sea front and the old town. Apartment was clean, comfortable and the agent was very helpful. The owner provided excellent information before we arrived making the stay hassle free. This is very important. Overall a good standard of accomodation although not your 'romantic' hideaway!
Anyone wishing to enjoy all the Nice attractions and sample the delights of the many other beautiful locations on the Cote D'Azur and Provence then the apartment on Avenue Auber is an ideal vacation site. During your stay, you can enjoy both a wonderful holiday and a real sense of community from living amongst the Nicoise themselves. Fresh bread, fruit and vegetables can be bought every day from the markets in the adjoining street in Rue D'Italie. Enjoy breakfast or lunch with the locals in the many delightful local bars, cafes and restaurants, whilst at the same time being only a few minutes reach of all the main tourist attractions. Enjoy the chic shopping facilities at Nice Etoile and Lafayette Galleries. The stunning Russian Cathedral of St Nicholas is only a 10 min walk away.
