A welcomed break

  • 5 of 5

Two friends and myself recently returned from a four day stay at this wonderful apartment.

We were met by Gordon who was both helpful and informative. The apartment was was in a great location within walking distance to everything.

There were so many interesting things around the apartment, so much character. There was nothing better after a long day of sightseeing and travelling than to return to one of the wonderful CD's on offer, soft lights and a night cap. Oh and such comfortable beds. Thank you so much...I feel we will return.

Comfortable and roomy home, well located for exploring Nimes and the surrounding countryside

  • 4 of 5

The Diva Apartment is more then just an apartment - for us it became a home for three weeks as we explored Nimes and the surrounding countryside during the Christmas and New Years holidays. The apartment was far larger and more comfortable than usual in Europe; the rooms were large and well laid out. The memory foam mattresses were far beyond our expectation and provided an excellent night's sleep. The kitchen was large enough and equipped well for preparing any meal - we used it virtually every morning and evenings to prepare our meals with no problem. The living room and dining room were well situated for our family gatherings. The owner, Gordon, went out of his way to ensure we had a comfortable stay - even providing a Christmas tree for the holidays.

Beyond the comfortable apartment with a very helpful owner, the Diva could not be better situated. Stepping out of the building you look left at a 2 thousand year old Roman Temple, just ahead is a modern art gallery and the historic center of town is across the street. The train and bus station is a 15 minute walk past the exceptional historic Roman Arena, past a dozen or so cafes. The market is several blocks to your left and is filled with a large selection of shops providing meat, fish, produce, cheese, bread, pastry, wine, spices and about anything you could want for your day's meals - what a wonderful way to start your day - along with coffee and pastry.

Nimes is an unexpectedly delightful city, easily explored on foot and with a well thought out and modern bus system. The historic center of Nimes is just out the the door of the Diva and worth the time strolling the narrow lanes visiting the historic sites and many shops. The insightful city leadership created a clean, well run city and the Diva is a prefect place to explore it and the countryside.

From the Diva's location we were able to visit Avignon, Arles, Montpellier, Aigues-Mortes and the incredible Pont du Gard all by trains or buses while still sleeping for a leisurely morning. No car is needed but if you have one parking is just around the corner and underground. If you want to rent a car they are easily obtained from the train station.

My daughters, my wife and I left Nimes with some regret, we loved our visit and the Diva as our home for a short while. We will be back and highly recommend the Diva for any stay in Nimes - the accommodations, location and value for the money can't be beat.

"Wonderful apartment, gre...

"Wonderful apartment, great place to spend Christmas, Gordon had even put up a tree for us.

Very warm and comfortable especially beds!

Great decor and very well equipped.

The location couldn''t be better shops Roman Temple and Amphitheatre very very close.

The food hall alone worth visit to Nimes and the staff there the most delightful and charming, even at a busy time like Christmas (plus having to deal with my schoolgirl French) Also a visit to Operadou for Nutcracker on our final night perfect ending to a marvellous trip.

Superb trip back to Paris on TGV - only 3 hours.

By the way women travelling with big suitcases, try and look pathetic and then like us you''ll get a big strong Foreign Legionnaire to lift cases onto train. Great Chaps - now a fan, wonder if women can join up and do you get own camel?

5 stars isn''t enough for witty Gordon, the apartment and beautiful Nimes.

We''ll be back.

"We stayed in the apartment for one week in May of this year and had a wonderful time. The location is without equal, the area is wonderful, the surroundings are perfect. The apartment was a total delight with excellent facilities and everything we needed for our stay. It is spacious, stylish and we will return. A five star holiday in a five star location."

Car: not necessary

About as centrally located as you can possibly be in Nimes, this is the ideal base for exploring the surrounding region (Languedoc, Provence, the Camargue and Cevennes). There is a large underground car park with pedestrian access just outside the apartment building.

Motorway access is only 10 minutes away and the central TGV station puts Nimes under 3 hours from Paris.

Ryanair flies to Nimes from Luton, Liverpool and Brussels. There are also flights from Rome and Palma.

There are concerts in the the Roman arena throughout the summer and an arts and crafts market every Thursday evening in the old part of the town (2 minutes from the apartment).

Nearby towns to visit include Montpellier, Uzes and Arles, and no visit would be complete without seeing the Pont du Gard, the amazing 2,000 year old aqueduct built by the Romans to bring water to the town of Nîmes.

And if guests happen to be opera or ballet lovers, we extend them a special invitation to enjoy free High Definition screenings in our unique "Home Opera Theatre". Full details on request.
