We are fellow travelers and with a background in Inn keeping, Hospitality, Fine Art and Real Estate - we attempt to anticipate every detail of your stay. We both enjoy the location of the home because of the immediate access to the SF National Forest right out our front door and ease of access to all things Santa Fe. We love to hike, bike, swim and Santa Fe allows us to enjoy our interests.
Randy is a professional artist who travels and teaches throughout the country and internationally. You can see some of his work in the home. Valerie has been working in hospitality for the past several years in Santa Fe and loves hosting guests. She is a retired CA and NM Real Estate Broker. We have been married 32 years. We enjoy being together, traveling and spending time with family & friends.
We know you have many choices in Santa Fe for lodging, but we really believe that our home offers something special. It is a sanctuary to all who get to experience it and we feel fortunate to have found it and more fortunate to have the opportunity to share it with others. Welcome!
We purchased our home after living in Santa Fe for 7 years and falling in love with it. We owned and operated a fine art gallery for that entire time and enjoyed being in town for business, but when it came time to purchase a home...Tesuque offered us the privacy and convenience we wanted. The absolutely beautiful country drive to and from the home on Bishops Lodge Road. We love the village feel, the Tesuque Village Market, the private drive and a not too long, old fashioned dirt road! Living at the end of the road with complete serenity and panoramic views creates a peaceful environment deserving of what is now our semi - retirement. Tesuque is an historic place that has special meaning to generations of Native Americans, Hispanic and Anglo populations who all work together to preserve her rural setting.
We love the Northern New Mexico architecture and the large portal that overlooks the pinon and juniper forest right out our door. Everywhere you look are quaint spots to sit and enjoy the outdoor spaces. Flagstone patios, settees, lounge chairs, the hammock and daybed all tell you that our priority is RELAXATION, comfort and fresh air! When you walk in the sweeping hand hewn viga ceilings will astound you. The well appointed kitchen and comfortable furnishing will draw you in. The gorgeous light enhances sunrises and sunsets and you will want your camera ready! We love to share our home and hospitality with respectful, clean and courteous people who will be grateful to be here and enjoy Santa Fe at her finest. We find that a certain kind of soul is intrigued by 'the city different' and we look forward to welcoming visitors and sharing our town with them. If you are like may never leave!
We had an exceptionally pleasant stay at Chez Valerie... terrific location, private, quiet and peaceful. Beautiful accommodations, everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The home is a short drive to downtown Santa Fe and so many other area destinations. Our hosts were terrific, and of course their dog Lollie was a treasure!
I have never stayed out in the Tesuque area and I am so glad when we did, we picked this home. The home was very clean, the bed is a high-end mattress, and it is quiet but my favorite part was the huge day bed right outside the front door where I could read and look at the mountains. My husband favored the hammock! We had a regular mid size car and did not have any issues with the dirt road. I would highly recommend this home -
Chez Valerie is an exceptional property just North of Santa Fe with gorgeous decor, including the very talented owner's exquisite paintings, high beamed ceilings, well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed just sitting outside watching the birds and petting the owners' dog Lollie.
Chez Valerie in Tesuque Village just outside of Santa Fe is a fabulous place to stay. If you are traveling alone or with one other person, this is the perfect place to stay while seeing Santa Fe and getting a sense of northern New Mexico's beauty and mystery. Hosts Valerie and Randy have created an elegant, inviting, and comfortable space just a few minutes outside of town. They have thought of everything visitors could want and are charming, thoughtful, and warm hosts. I was hard-pressed to leave the property each day to see Santa Fe because it is so lovely there. I hope to return one day. It is wonderful!
We enjoyed 3 nights at this spectacular property in May. The patio area alone was worth the rental fee, with views of staggering beauty and quiet solitude. But the house was magnificent, a showplace of first-rate construction, furniture, art, and amenities. The place had top-notch everything, and was immaculate. Valerie’s previous experience as an inn-keeper and real estate expert came shining thru in the great care taken to ensure the house was perfect for renters. We’ve stayed at many VRBOs over the years, and this is certainly among the best if not the absolute best. Like most Santa Fe rentals, the owners are on-site, but they were virtually invisible the whole time. We felt the place was ours alone, and with the hilltop location the solitude was refreshing to the soul. Also, on arrival they greeted us with a delightful platter of cheese, snacks, and wine, and provided excellent dining and hiking suggestions for our stay (including national forest hiking access on-site). Can’t overstate how great this place is.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 April nights at Chez Valerie. Randy greeted us warmly upon arrival -- his friendly, easy-going nature most apparent. The house sits at the end of a residential road with a tranquil territorial view, very private, very peaceful, very beautiful. There are ample spots outside to sit and enjoy the view, drink your morning coffee, read a book, etc. The interior of the house feels spacious and warm and certainly invites relaxing! The house is well-stocked with kitchen supplies (including baking & cook staples), linens, blankets, books, etc. Easy kitchen to cook in, which we did several times, even with all the great restaurants in the area.
It's about a 10 minute drive to downtown Santa Fe, 60 minute drive from Albuquerque -- an easy base from which to explore the area (Bandelier, Taos, Turquoise Trail, Sandia Peak, etc). Definitely need a car and we were glad we didn't have the "economy compact" we usually go for -- the road to the house was easy to navigate, but I image it does get tricky in poor weather (and Valerie & Randy do leave detailed instructions on dealing with road conditions).
Valerie is very easy to correspond with and the info she sent to us prior to our arrival was clear and informative. We highly recommend Chez Valerie!
