Everything about this home signals a special, comfortable getaway. Do any number of activities or just enjoy the fire, lack of noise and light pollution.
Transport yourself to another world in less than two hours from Boston. This home is a destination in itself - no generic condo! You are close to all mother nature offers, and can ski, hike, golf, leaf peep, swim, dine.
Cozy and accommodating! The backyard had so many fun things for the family to enjoy! Not terribly buggy at all. Cher was helpful and a wonderful host throughout our week there! Basic need and then some were available all over the house. Highly recommended!
We booked our reservation as a Christmas present to our family so we could all be in one place after the holiday season! It had plenty of rooms and bathrooms to accommodate our growing family. The great room was an amazing gathering place for us all to be in one room together, playing games, lighting a fire and hanging out as a family! We will def be back!
This was a great house. We had 9 people in our group and there was plenty of room to spread out. The great room with a large fireplace was amazing! the beds were very comfortable and the owner Cher Duffield was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. You can't go wrong with this rental.
Great time with the family. We have two boys 19 years apart in age. The youngest a college freshman and two grandchildren thus the need for a large well equipped home. This cottage fit the bill [if you cook bring a favorite pan or two]. Skiing was great at Waterville and Loon [crowded on weekends loon handles best].
The home had lots of games, videos and room to spread out. Our daughter in law had to work from vaca. and had quiet space to do so. The laundry was a big help especially with a one year old. Bed were comfortable and towels provided.
Discovered the Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth [20 min ride] Excellent. The Mad River Tavern was good as well.
Oliver [4 years] did two days at the ski school, a first for her. The staff was very patient making for a good experience. Nana stayed back with our one year old.
Over all Very Good ski vacation.
This farmhouse was great! There was plenty of room for the 8 adults and 3 children in our group. The kids especially loved the red room with a set of bunks and toddler bed and really enjoyed the air hockey table. My 5 yr old son asked me when we were moving in! The number of bathrooms made it so easy for everyone to get up and out the door in the morning and the kitchen came with lots of utensils and cookware for our convenience. We enjoyed swimming in the Eddy, going to downtown Waterville to the shops and free beach area with pedal boats and kyak rentals and hiking some of the local trails. The firepit was fantastic for s'more making and the Campton Cupboard was really close by for just about anything we needed. Just need to make sure you have a couple of people with you to put AC units in. Upstairs were installed, just downstairs units. Not a problem, just something to expect. Overall, we had a GREAT stay!! The house was very clean and Cher was wonderful to work with and had a lot of suggestions for places to see. We had a couple of questions while we were there and she was easily accessible and very pleasant to deal with. Would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing, family vacation. The house is beautiful and the area is just loaded with things to do. Thank you, Cher!
Property is fairly new to renting out, therefore there are a few kinks. Pro's: Lots of room, private, allows pets, and is a good base to do anything in the White Mountains. Very quiet - backyard has a playful family of chipmunks that are amusing to watch. Birds were nesting in the outside rafters - and it was fun watching them. Lots of backyard if you wish to venture out to do things. Safe - didn't feel unsafe at anytime. Good eating close by - 2 taverns and ice cream stand that is excellent. Air Hockey table was good for kids, and the internet service is very good and reliable. Owner is very nice and cooperative to your needs and issues. House has a lot of antiques and is decorated well. Cons: Not as clean as the pictures appear. Ant issue in house (kitchen and upstairs bathrooms) made it hard and not appealing to prepare food. Kitchen not clean upon arrival. Mattress in upstairs bedroom is extremely lumpy and sheets are piled from over washing or being worn out. Furniture is old and delicate so we lived out of suitcases instead of putting things away for the week. TICKS are everywhere. We got ticks walking from the car to the house, no joke. Not just one, but everyday - everyone had to pull off a tick and we are not adventurous hiking people. This is just normal walking to the car a few times a day. Nicest rooms are the Tulip Room upstairs, and the poster bed downstairs. Other rooms need some work. Funky noise coming from bunk room - not sure what it is, but you can hear it in the Tulip room when it's quiet. Kids didn't want to sleep in there. Overall - bigger and cheaper than a hotel - but not that "clean" feeling you get from home or a decent hotel...Owner did compensate for cleaning issue, and promised to address issues.
