Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Paphos region - Crusty Hills

Set within a small complex in a quiet location on the outskirts of Polis, our light and airy first floor apartment (Crusty Hills as we call our bolt-hole in the sun) is situated a stone's throw from the beach of Chyrsochou Bay, but it is only 10/15 minutes walking distance to the town centre with all its amenities including restaurants, supermarket, banks, etc.

With balconies at front and rear, there is a choice of spectacular views either of the Akamas peninsula or the rugged hills of the Pafos forest.

A short drive takes you to the small fishing port of Latchi, renowned for its harbour-side fish restaurants, sea-sport facilities and boating excursions - a must for all Polis visitors.

The apartment has an open-plan living/kitchen area with the lounge comprising two leather sofas, coffe table and occasional table, Cable TV, DVD and CD player.

two weeks cycling october 2008

  • 5 of 5

my wife and i had a glorious two weeks in october, the apartment was better than we expected from the information in the web site. directions from the airport were clear and easy to follow, we found the place on google earth which was a bonus and we new just how close to the sea it was. the apartment was very clean and well presented and contained everything and more that you would expect from a holiday apartment. the washing machine was really useful as we were cycling most days. they have produced a great folder with all the information you would need to explore the local area and more. the apartment is in a quiet location a 10 minute walk from the town, the road is not very well lit in places so a torch may be useful. there were some good restaurants in town and a couple that weren't so good. the pick was a fish restaurant that is ran by a fishing family, very unassuming but very good and fairly cheap. the town of Polis now has a large supermarket, but there are several smaller mini-markets in the town too. several beaches are close enough that you can walk to, they are shingle but pretty quiet. if you want sandy beaches the closest is probably coral bay which is a 30 - 40 minute drive over the mountains which affords some stunning scenery. there are several places in town to hire a car, scooter or bicycle, shop around and don't be afraid to haggle on the price. some nice flattish runs along the coast and some steep hills inland. we would certainly recommend this as a holiday, the owners provide an excellent service, thanks for a great holiday.

We have been to Polis numerous times and this apartment is by far the nicest we have stayed in. Everything you could want and more. The location is superb both for the beach and Polis centre. We would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants a nice relaxing holiday. We will definitely be returning again and again.

Excellent Apartment, recommend to all

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Polis numerous times and this is the nicest apartment we have stayed in. Everything you need for an enjoyable holiday is available, plus more.

I would recommend this apartment to everyone who wanted a Cypriot holiday in a quieter resort. Plenty of café bars and restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely be staying here again.

An excellent out of season stay at Crusty Hills

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at Crusty Hills after a week in a much noisier apartment in Larnaca and enjoyed a week of fabulous peace and quiet both in the immediate neighbourhood as well as across Paphos district. Obviously early March is not a good swimming month, but there was still loads to do including trips up into the Troodos mountains, visits to Paphos and to various fantastic archaeological sites; plus on sunny days (4 out of 7) we had some beautiful walks on the Akhamas peninsula, with local wild flowers in full bloom. On days when the weather was not so great we took scenic drives and enjoyed some excellent food in a Paphos "Rough Guide" recommended taverna.

As regards self-catering, the apartment was as well-appointed as for our previous visit in June 2010, and the supplementary heating provided at no extra cost was perfectly sufficient for our needs. (Full warm air circulation was available at a modest additional cost, payable locally, had we needed it). As before, we were made very welcome by local representative Carol, and it was no time at before we had settled in happily and picked up seamlessly from where we had finished last June!

The large supermarket in Polis remains fully operational all year round and therefore there is absolutely no problem with obtaining top quality self-catering supplies at affordable prices - the take away souvlaki & giro places remain open too so it is never a problem to get hold of an inexpensive meal or snack whenever the mood takes you. We limited evening meals out in Polis, as prices in the tavernas there are not cheap in our humble view, although what we ate was of good quality and portions generous.

Of course, anyone wanting discos and demanding nightlife would be disappointed with Polis in March - which is one of the reasons why we thoroughly enjoyed it :-)

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in a comfortable, good quality 2-bedroom apartment with many nice "finishing touches" which is available at modest cost for an out of season stay, then we would warmly recommend you to visit Crusty Hills, unless of course this overlaps with when we next want to visit!

Autumn bliss

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay at Crusty Hills with beautiful warm weather and sea. Apartment is provided with all you could want, and there is plenty to see and do in the area. A car is not essential, but you can enjoy all the variety of the seashores and mountains if you have one. Thanks for your efficiency and consideration Hilary and Mike.

Crusty Hills

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the apartment very much indeed. We found everything we needed to enjoy our stay in the apartment. The swimming pool we virtualy had to ourselves and we found the people living in the other apartments very friendly.Polis town centre with all its bars and eateries is well within an easy walk. Carol made us feel very welcome and has now become a new friend.

We will recomend Crusty Hills to anyone wanting a relaxing and uncomplicated stay in a lovely part of Cyprus.

Albert and Rachel.

Polis, which in Greek means town, is on the wide Chrysochous Bay that runs along the northwest sweep of Cyprus from the Akamas Peninsula to Pomos Point, at the start of the the island's Tylliria wilderness.

Polis offers the ideal holiday for those who appreciate authenticity and seek rest and tranquility in a pleasant and friendly environment, which blends mountains and plain with a wonderful healthy climate, particularly warm clear seas and secluded beaches.

It's a laid-back sort of place with lots of old-fashioned nooks and crannies, in addition to a picturesque central pedestrian area mostly given over to tavernas, restaurants (with some of the best and most affordable dining to be had in the whole of Cyprus) and shops. The leisurely pace of life here is a welcome sign of just how different things are in this part of Cyprus.

Nonetheless, Polis is considered to be an excellent location for those who enjoy active holidays, whether on land or sea

There is a large supermarket in Polis; Papantoniou (known locally as Paps) which is no more than 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
