I grew up in St. Louis Mo. and vacationed in Sarasota with my family. My Mom and Dad purchased this great home, and now it belongs to me. I live right around the corner from "Hirsch's landing," so I can easily attend to the home and my guests. I live in Sarasota on Lido Key, and I work as a professional actress at the Asolo Repertory Theatre.

Wild Manatees are frequent visitors to the new beautiful dock on this lovely canal.
We were a party of 6 adults looking for a vacation rental in Sarasota for a family wedding this October. We chose the beautiful Hirches Landing home, and so happy we did! It was the perfect place for friends and relatives to visit – spacious inside and beautiful patio and pool area outside. We even enjoyed our own private dock with a great view from the canal. Being from the Philadelphia area, we especially got a kick out of all the great wildlife we saw (manatees!).
Everyone loved the stylish retro look of the place. I was amazed at how well they have kept everything in the house. It was very clean, very organized, and very accommodating. They have anything you might need, which is important if you are traveling from a distance like we did.
We also think Lido Key is the place to stay in the Sarasota area. You have the beautiful beach on the gulf, St. Armand’s Circle for shopping and dining, and lovely short rides to explore the rest of Sarasota and Longboat Key.
Not only was the owner lovely and beyond helpful but my family and I had an incredible week there. There were manatees we saw every evening while relaxing on the dock in the evenings or while my little one was splashing around in the pool. Fish were splashing off the dock and blue heron and white crane were commonly seen in the yard. Around the corner from the house to the right is the entrance to the beach at Lido Key and to the left is St. Armand's Circle. We might have driven someplace once the week we were there but basically walked everywhere - it was so relaxing! The house had everything we needed and had a super cool chic vintage 70s vibe - we just adored it and hope to make it a yearly trip. I adored this property!
My family, which is basically 4 adults and 2 older teenagers, just returned from a relaxing and fun week at this property. I could not be more pleased with the accommodations. The house has more than enough room for a large family, with lovely views of the canal and pool, as most of the back of the house is sliding, glass doors. We all spent our evenings playing with the manatees that stay under the dock, swimming in the pool and taking the short stroll around the corner to St Armand's Circle, where we enjoyed ice cream, shopping and dining. Our days were spent on the beautiful beach, which is a short walk from the front of the house. The area of the beach we were on, was surprisingly uncrowded even over the holiday. The house was well stocked with plenty of towels, sheets, cleaning supplies and the kitchen had everything we needed to stay in and cook, which we did on several occasions. We grilled out on the 4th and even entertained some friends one night and found everything we needed for an enjoyable time by all. The owner and property manager were wonderful to deal with. They took the time to meet us and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this property and plan on booking it for 2 weeks next summer!
Just got back from our third year staying for a week in October. It is our home away from home and wouldn't even consider another place. Carolyn is a joy to work with. The pier, the manatees, the pool, the patio, the proximity to beach and Circle, the cool decor brings us back again and again. My only wish, since we are foodies, would be some upgrades to the cooking equipment (i.e. pots, pants, knives, etc.). Oh, and a couple bikes? :) Other than that HL is a 10 !
Wow - perfect location - just a couple of minutes walk to the beautiful Lido beach in one direction and 3 minutes walk to the restaurants and shops in Armand's Circle in the other.
It was like stepping back in time - the home was decorated and furnished (as advertised) in 1960s style. Very comfortable and clean and well supplied with towels, bedding, crockery, glasses etc. My husband and I felt very much 'at home' and were very sad to leave.
We were very pleased (and amazed) to have manatees come to visit our dock every day. There were different ones, which came at various times of the day - two had babies with them. They were so lovely and we felt very lucky to get so close to them.
The outdoor area was great - the mango tree gave excellent shade and we enjoyed sitting out there in peaceful surroundings.
I would recommend this property.
Just returned from a fabulous week stay (July 4-11) at Hirsch's Landing. I typically vacation in the Destin area on the panhandle of Florida but took my brothers advice to give the Sarasota area a try. After a quick search I was amazed how less expensive the rentals are in comparison to the panhandle area. I found this place after a little research and glad I did. I must say I didn't know what to expect due to the fact that sometimes pictures do not tell whole story. The owner Carolyn was there as we arrived to give us a quick tour of the home - I must say when my wife and I entered the house we were pleasantly surprised - my first reaction was "this place is cool"! The amount of natural light that comes in from the complete glass sliding doors and windows on back of house really adds to the charm of this house. The home is much bigger than what it looks like in the pictures with a huge master bedroom and bath. The home comes equipped with plenty of towels, (even provides beach towels), cooking utensils, plates, etc. to accommodate more than the 4 guest in our party. The pool was perfect and the pool deck had natural shade (huge mango tree) on one side for those needing a break from the sun. It was also great taking a short stroll to end of the street and taking a right to be at the beach in 2 minutes or a left and being at St. Armand's Circle in 2 minutes - only time we got in the car was to get groceries. Looking forward to a return trip to Lido Key and "Hirsch's Landing". Thanks again to Carolyn for allowing some great memories at her rental home.
