Beautiful home in a great location!

This is a lovely home with beautiful decoration. The house is only a 5 minuet walk from several plazas with restaurants and bars, and only a 15 minuet walk from downtown Grenada. Samar and her husband were very friendly and made the process very easy. I highly recommend this rental!

Wonderful House and Relaxing Stay

We (a family of four, including two teenagers) stayed in this house in July/August 2017 and had a wonderful holiday.

The house itself is beautiful; set in the medieval Albaicin district, with tasteful decoration, air conditioning and everything needed to live comfortably. The views are stunning, the pool is lovely and much needed during the very hot weather when we stayed (40-42C). We were met by Marta, as Samar was on holiday. Marta was friendly and courteous and contactable if needed.

The house is located in the perfect area to access everything Albaicin has to offer, from local shops, bars and restaurants to the interesting Sacramonte hills with cave houses (we were invited to see inside by owners in return for a small payment of €1 per person). It is also easy to get in to central Granada, with its many high-end shops and restaurants, by bus from Albaicin, although we walked there in about 20 minutes. The walk back is steep so some people may prefer to get a bus or taxi; both are plentiful. Alhambra Palace is also within walking distance. The view of Alhambra at sunset is very beautiful and there are several viewing spots within five minutes’ walk from the house, from which to see this amazing sight. We also viewed Alhambra from the same spot when it was lit up at night – this too is a fantastic sight.

There are many local grocery, bakery and general stores plus a morning market 5 mins walk from the house, as well as banks and pharmacies. Bars and restaurants are also within a short walking distance; drinks and meals very reasonably priced and good quality. Lunch menus around €10 per head, evening meals including drinks around €70 for 4 people. There is a good variety of food available in the different bars and local beer and wine is well priced and of a high standard. The area is famed for its flamenco musicians and these perform at the restaurants where you are invited to contribute a small sum, should you wish. Bear in mind that the majority of places close between 14.00 and 18.00.

For English speakers without fluency in Spanish, Samar and Marta have excellent English. It is beneficial to have some Spanish for the shops, bars and restaurants although some English is spoken. People are relaxed, helpful and polite.

We would definitely recommend a holiday in this house; it is exactly as portrayed in the photos and makes for very a relaxing holiday where you can immerse yourself in as much or as little of the local culture as you wish.

Perfect Location

First off thank you to Samar who looks after the house. She was very easy to get along with & was responsive to our questions.

Staying in this house comes, however, with some pluses & minuses. On the plus side, the pool. With temperatures hovering around 30deg it was pleasant to sit by the pool & just relax. The views from the house are also breathtaking. You can see the top of Alhambra, the snow covered mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the gypsy area of Sacromonte as well as the white washed houses surrounding the house.

Just a 10 minutes walk from the house is the Mirador de San Nicholas, a lookout which has brilliant views of the Alhambra. Also nearby is a small plaza (Plaza Larga) full of eating and drinking places, and on Fridays a small local market. We even went to a fantastic Flamenco show in a restaurant just a 5 minute walk from our house, Jardines de Zoraya. You can also wander down the hill to Granada which has a totally different feel to it. You then pay around 1.20 euro to get the tiny bus (C1) that takes you back up to the top of the Albayzin.

The thing we disliked about the house was the spiral staircase. The bedrooms & bathroom are upstairs, while the kitchen & living area are downstairs. Lots of going up & down!

The big minus of staying in the Albayzin is driving and parking your car. It’s a fluke if you find a car spot & the streets are so narrow it’s easy to get into trouble driving. You should park in the open air car park, on Ctra de Murcia, & walk in. It is only a 10 minute walk to the house. Ask Samar to give you directions.

It was in a good location, clean and lots of room for four people. Well equipped kitchen.

When we arrived, Samar came right away to meet us, help park our car and take us to the house. She showed us everything in the house and then spent time telling us about the area and highlights. Answered all our questions and was available if we had more. Samar is a wonderful host, friendly and full of life!

Historic and cozy home with view

A wonderful getaway because we stayed in the historic Albaicin. Such a privilege. As for the home – it’s great. Cozy and clean. There are stairs which can be challenging for some. But the kitchen is well equipped as are the bedrooms. (Ask for extra towels and blankets – I’m sure the host will accommodate.) Plenty of closet space. Laundry facilities were helpful. Pool looked very inviting although off season. Host Samar was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. You can walk down to Plaza Nueva in ten minutes or you can take the C1 bus into town. Lots of hidden gems in Albaicin including flamenco, specialty butcher shops, and daily farmer’s market - not to mention the views. Excellent bakery, too. One of a kind stay.
