About Lydia Bruce

We are Lydia & Dick Bruce, owners of this lovely home, which we have enjoyed for 12 years and now wish to share with anyone who wishes to have their lives enriched by the lively, beautiful experience of spending time in historic Colorado Springs & the surrounding areas. A job change brought us here from South Carolina and we now wish to explore and experience some of the wonders of Arizona's Sonora Desert, Grand Canyon, & Lake Mead, etc. Please be our guests and enjoy!

Lydia Bruce purchased this house in 2002

Why Lydia Bruce chose Briargate

We had traveled to Colorado for years to snow ski the world famous ski resorts, but never dreamed we would have a chance to live here one day. When the job opportunity came up, we quickly moved first to the mountains nearby and, after 2 years, decided we were ready to enjoy the city life. It took us a year to find a home and development with world class views in an upscale area that we would enjoy, and we now pass along some of that experience to you to enjoy!

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with our home the first minute we saw the glorious views from every room on the back side of the home. The layout of the home appealed to us tremendously with its 10 foot ceilings throughout and bright sunny rooms. The best part, though, is watching the sun set from the home or deck, in a rainbow of beautiful colors over the mountains, and turning them briefly into those same blues, purples, reds, pinks & oranges.

Due to the HOA limitations, the property rental period must be at least 90 days.

Nice home in a quiet neighborhood

  • 3 of 5

As noted in previous reviews this is a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath patio home. It has a king bed in the master. The home is very nice, fully outfitted and was priced appropriately. It was clean and ready for us when we arrived. There is no 3rd bedroom. There is a bed in a partially finished basement and a sofa sleeper in a den off the foyer. This was sufficient for our party but may not be for other larger families. We had 5 people including 2 couples. Pros: great location, nice kitchen, 2 car garage, and tv's everywhere. Cons: The deck furniture was dry rotted and all but 2 chairs were broken. No 3rd bedroom. Hot tub is in the basement. Overall it was a nice place to stay and is very convenient to USAFA.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The house is beautiful and nicely appointed. It was clean and had anything you could possibly need. I loved the view from the deck too! The neighborhood is in a great area close to stores and restaurants and about 20 minutes from all the major attractions in Colorado Springs. We absolutely would recommend this home for anyone wanting a property with owners who go above and beyond to make sure their guests are comfortable and who take pride in their home. We look forward to staying here again!

Beautiful home and great location!

  • 5 of 5

The home was great! Everyone enjoyed their stay. It felt like a home away from home. The view of the moutains from the back deck was beautiful and we loved waking up to the view each morning. Beds slept very well and even with 7 people we never ran out of hot water for showers. Appliances worked well and there were plenty of plates and glasses as well as towels for showers. The owner responded quickly to questions. Quiet neighborhood in a cul de sac. Very small back yard. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

A few notes (not complaints):

If you stay in the home, make sure all windows and doors are locked. We didn't have window issues because we didn't open them, but the exterior doors did not shut well. You had to push them a little further (listen for the click) after thinking they were closed. We had a door blow open from the wind.

Had access to the garage, but the remotes did not work and the keypad did not work either. We made it just fine without them. Owner tried to have them fixed but they were not fixed during our stay.

If you use the hot tub be cautious because the water level was too high before getting in. Depending on size of adults, you could cause an overflow.

Very nice home in a great location.

Set-up worked well for our family. Teens had the downstairs space to themselves and enjoyed the hot tub. Deck was a great place to relax and take in the view. Neighborhood was very safe and nice and amenities very close by.
