(Text automatically translated) Charm and light. 2-room apartment situated in the old Montmartre, close to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, offering all the advantages of a central location while being in a quiet street. Completely renovated in April 2010, it is equipped with modern equipment and can comfortably accommodate 4 people (bedroom with a double bed 160x200 cm and a sofa bed in the lounge).
Comfortable and convenient enough for this price in Paris. Have noticed other reviewers make similar complaints so am surprised Isabelle hasn't rectified these things. Namely, she needs to provide her cell phone number and the security code for the street door, maybe a day or two before arrival date. She does neither, so as there is nowhere nearby to shelter, if it's raining when you arrive you would be stuck out on the street with all your luggage. We were lucky. No rain and she turned up within minutes. Once in the apartment she provided her cell no and that of her husband in case she was unavailable, as well as lots of local info, restaurants, supermarket etc.
Heating efficient, good wifi, heated towel rail, bed fairly comfortable although the softest we had on the trip, not desperately so though. Kitchen reasonably well equipped although the emphasis is on espresso, 11 cups for this and 3 for tea. Good little Nespresso machine and quite a few coffee pods provided.
Quiet with respect to street noise but creaky floorboards meant we could hear every step upstairs and most of those on the internal staircase. Fortunately upstairs didn't crash around too much so overnight was quiet. Two flights up, not too bad for Paris. Lots of hills and steps in this area so not good for those with mobility problems. We're in our 60s and managed fine.
Isabelle always communicated promptly. She provided street address, unlike another reviewer's comment. We didn't have to get in touch during our stay as everything else ran smoothly.
Isabelle was easy to communicate with and met us at the pre-planned time at the flat. It is in an eclectic area of Paris. Wherever you go be prepared for a walk uphill "home". The Metro is handy with cafes and restaurants close by. The flat has a good layout for two people. The kitchen is well appointed. That all said, the flat especially the bathroom needs work. The bathroom ceiling and some walls were falling apart. The water heater was leaking. There was mold in the shower. The couch in the living area was soiled and needs replacing. If the flat would be brought up to a decent standard we would consider staying here again, otherwise we would look elsewhere.
Isabell — the property manager — was incredibly helpful. We got a little lost on our way into Paris from one of the outlying airports. Isabell waited two hours for us to arrive. She even gave us a call to assist us in navigating our way to the flat. She was very gracious with her time and advice.
The apartment is charming and comfortable. The bathroom is very small — but it's very consistent to what I've seen in all Parisian apartments. We felt safe staying there. There are several nice cafe's and bars within walking distance, which we enjoyed exploring every evening. The apartment is far enough removed from the Sacre-Coeur that you can easily avoid the noise and crowds that amass there every evening. But it's a very short walk (up a serious set of stairs) to reach the footsteps of the basilica if you're interested.
We were very pleased with our stay and location. The prices was incredibly reasonable for such a charming neighborhood. We look forward to coming back in the future.
While the flat itself has the possibility of being adequate, the owner has fallen very short in her responsibilities. The flat is small but has a nice kitchen with good appliances, coffee maker, etc. and the bedroom is also very small but the bed is comfortable. However, the only linens provided were the one sheet on the bed, a duvet and pillows. It was very hot and there was no sheet or other blanket to use instead of the duvet. There was also a very old, dirty hide-a-bed sofa in the living room with no bedding provided. The worst part of the flat was the bathroom which originally had a nice enough shower, vanity and toilet, however, the shower head was so plugged up that only a trickle of water came out. The hot water tank was leaking and making a puddle of water in one corner. The owner obviously knew about the leak because a sponge had been put in the corner. The entire ceiling in the bathroom was moldy and falling down and looked like it had been that way for a very long time. We were there for 3 nights and were provided with three old threadbare towels and no soap. Mold was starting to show in the corners in the bedroom and the entire flat could use some paint and maintenance. Some work by the owner and some new towels and bedding would go a long way to improve this place. Also, when corresponding with the owner she gave us directions but never once mentioned the address, the flat number, her phone number or the code to get into the building. She asked us to meet her there at noon but when we arrived from the airport by taxi, which cost 50 Euros, we thought 18 Montmartre was the street address as this was all we had been given. As 18 Montmartre is the area, we went up the streets looking for a door to match the picture we were given. When we found the doorway we had no way of getting in because the owner did not give us a code. After standing outside for a while and knocking to no avail, another person let us into the building. The owner had also not given us a unit number so we went to every door on the five floors and knocked until we located the owner. She did not even have a unit number on the door. I think she could have made an effort to come outside to meet us instead of expecting us to go look for her. If taking buses and trains instead of a taxi, you will be in for a lot of walking and dragging your suitcase up and down stairs on the street and in bus stations.
This flat was comfortable and fully equipped with everything that a person might want for their stay. The owner was wonderful and friendly. The only reason for the 4 starts and not 5 was because it was up so many stairs with no lift. I appreciated that the owner, Isabelle, helped carry the heavy bag up. The bed was comfortable, kitchen tidy and in good condition, and the overall atmosphere really was the best of old world Montmartre.
We would recommend this flat to anyone who is fit and able to carry their luggage up the stairs.
The owners were communicative and really lovely to deal with. The flat is lovely and well used but so worth it. Its proximity to the restaurants in the square you can see from the window is awesome. Moulin Rouge is walking distance and the flat literally sits under the shadow of the Basilica which is a tourist attraction but you're tucked just far enough away that there's no impact from the crowds at all. Over the other side of the Basilica are more restaurants and tourist spots but we preferred the 'local' and frequented the bar each evening for the wonderful local company. We travelled easily into the Paris centre via hop on hop off yours which stops just a short walk down in Montmarte. Many grocery stores to stock up on nearby. Thank you Isabelle and David!
