Our flat - the historic "House of the Red Cross" - is in Prague 1 - Mala Strana, the best part of Prague, up near the Castle and close to many embassies. Essentially everything you are likely to want to see is within walking distance. We are very close to the castle, but the river is also nearby and you can rent rowing boats. In addition to the architecture, we are also close to the hillside parks behind the German and US embassies, where you can walk everywhere and get great views. The building itself is a listed monument and dates back to 1541. It was beautifully restored to a high standard by an Italian restoration company two years ago. Free wireless broadband.

Locked in Prague
The apartment was very spacious and clean. It was way more than enough room for two people! It has two bedrooms, living room with kitchen, and two bathrooms. The living room has many books about Prague, so if you are like us and did not plan much in advance, these books can help bring some inspiration.
Like some have said here, the stairs are steep. We were happy to only travel by backpacks as it made going up and down very easy.
Don't make the mistake we did- do not bring a car to Prague! You will have difficulty parking and navigating through people! This trip was last minute-ish. So while we asked about parking before hand, we did not receive an answer. When we tried contacting Simona upon arrival, we also did not receive an answer as quick as we would have hoped.
The star drop from here was, well, because we got locked in. The apartment is a small complex with 4 other apartments within the building. Instructions to leave said leave the keys inside, which we did. When we tried to exit the entrance way, we could not. We were stuck in the entrance way. After contacting Simona to rescue us, she indicated it would take an hour to let us out. Thankfully, a neighbor let us out after a half hour.
We have already been contacted by the owner who is working to resolve this issue. Besides that issue, the apartment was lovely!
Thanks very much for this nice review. I'm so sorry that you were locked in. We have owned our flat since 1999 and this has never happened before. So I'm really embarrassed! It appears that one of our neighbours had friends staying who were in the house and physically actually locked the front door behind them. We now have a different procedure for leaving the keys after your stay so that this can never happen again! Our manager Simona was already on her way to open the door for you when the neighbour let you out. Thank you very much for letting her know you had solved the problem so quickly. With best wishes, Anna
Location, Cleanliness, and Charm X1000
Anna's home is more than I expected by a long shot. First of all Anna has a charming and clean well located apartment. Secondly she has left nothing to chance, if you read her note it is a no brainer(unlike me). The location is about two minutes from the Charles bridge, there is a charming and tasty restaurant (not full of tourist) directly across the street from the apartment. In additon you are in the embassy district that gives you an idea of your neighbors. Lastly, clean to the point that my wife would not find any fault, and quiet enough that you forget you are in a busy and active city. Thank you Anna for the use of your home.
This is in a really good area, a short walk to old-town restaurants and sights. Less than 15 minutes walk to the Charles bridge and the main part of the old town.
The property is excellent, with all conveniences. I did have two issues, however: my beds were not comfortable (too low for an older person) and there is no top sheet. The covering was a quilt, which is far too hot in moderate weather. The beds need a top sheet and a Logitech blanket in summer.
The other problem is the stairs: if you have problems with stairs, this property is not for you. This becomes particularly important if you intend to bring any luggage. The second flight has very narrow treads, which make it more hazardous.
We loved the location, the apt. Was perfect for our family. We would definitely rent it again!
Location location location...steps from an authentic Czech restaurant, 15 mins from the Charles Bridge and Old Town, and US Embassy. The apt. Was not luxurious but very comfortable and well appointed and perfect for our family which included our 20yr old daughter who had her own bedroom. Loved having the clothes washer too. We would definitely rent it again and recommend it highly. The owner communicated immediately with all the information about where to pick up keys making the use worry free. The only downside to this apartment is it is on the third floor, no elevator, with very narrow, tight stairs to carry up and down luggage.

The flat was wonderful! It’s in a nice quiet area. Very clean and spacious. Easy walking access to great pubs and restaurants. Fabulous pub in the courtyard. Would definitely stay here again next visit to Prague. Thank you for sharing it with us.
