|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Blue Skies is named for its gracious ambience and sky-colored ceilings throughout. The apartment, which is on the second floor, is set up to comfortably accommodate six (but in a pinch it can sleep seven adults, or seven adults and a child). Blue Skies, which has its own thermostat and air conditioning, is comprised of seven rooms: a spacious living room (with a larger-than-average daybed); an anteroom off the living room (with French doors and another, smaller-than-average daybed suitable for a child); a dining room with table that can be expanded from six to fit eight or 10; full kitchen (with fridge, oven, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, but no dishwasher); three comfortable bedrooms (two with queen-size beds, one with full); and a bathroom with clawfoot tub and an abundance of fluffy white towels and toiletries (including but not limited to shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Q-tips, band-aids and body lotion). Blue Skies is very clean and very comfortable, and exudes the welcoming warmth of an art-filled salon.
This house was built shortly after the Civil War, and the public spaces — living room, dining room and kitchen — are spacious. The cozy bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, two with full) are generously appointed with pillows, soft linens, fluffy comforters and cozy rugs, and all the beds are super comfortable.
Union Street, and my block in particular, has the lovely settled energy of an older neighborhood. It's quiet and peaceful here, yet only a minute's walk from the middle of Warren Street, Hudson's happening main drag with its varied restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, boutiques, and all manner of fashions - antique and au courant - for home and humans.
Hudson is a very small city, and you can explore all of it easily on foot. Warren Street, Hudson's main artery, is a minute's leisurely stroll from the house, and there is street parking all around. Hudson is about 120 miles from New York City, a two-hour train ride from Penn Station, and 48 miles from Albany International Airport (ALB). Although you can walk anywhere in town from the house, the closest supermarkets, movie theaters and fast food are located in strip malls 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 miles away (thus preserving Hudson's remarkable architectural continuity). There are taxis, a car rental agency, and two places to rent bicycles (one of which also rents skis and kayaks) in town.
The Catskills, Frederick Church's Olana and river beaches — to name just three of the Hudson Valley's memorable offerings — are all a 10- or 15-minute drive, and more easily accessed by car.
I am reachable by e-mail or phone from booking through your stay — and usually available in person while you're here. I do my best before you arrive to fulfill any specific requests, then respect the privacy of your apartment (unless called upon) after greeting you with the key when you get here.

I have lived in Hudson, a vibrant mini-city on the banks of the Hudson River, since 1999. It is my pleasure to offer you a peaceful, comfortable home base from which to explore and enjoy Hudson and the Hudson Valley.
Ellen Liburt purchased this apartment in 1999
There's not a better location in town; Blue Skies enjoys the tranquility of a safe, settled neighborhood, but is just a block from the bustle of Warren Street.
Ellen went above and beyond to ensure that our stay during my daughters wedding weekend was stress free. She is a great communicator and answered numerous questions before our stay. Her apt is cozy and charming in a great location. Great place for family and friends to relax at home!
Blue Skies was fantastic for a weekend in the Catskills. There were four adults and two toddlers and the apartment had plenty of space. Ellen was very welcoming and accommodating - even providing us a pack and play for one of the kids. The apartment location couldn't be better - one block off the main street, so easy walking to restaurants, cafes, and the farmers market.
The place was lovely and well-stocked which was a treat. I was traveling with no car and a 4yr old and 9 month old and we had no issues at all! Ellen is a great host, very helpful. Definitely 5 stars!
Hudson is on your doorstep: The restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, antique shops and boutiques are a minute's walk away on Warren Street, and the train and river are a 10-minute walk.
