Beautifully renovated Townhouse upgraded to a very high standard and furnished accordingly. Registered with the Junta de Andalucia as a Casa Rural reference CR/MA/00799. Two double bedrooms on ground level with large bathroom. Large open plan living, dining and kitchen area on first floor with two traditional balconies together with large shower room. Spacious terrace room and large terrace on second floor with magnificent uninterrupted views south to the coast and Africa beyond. The terrace room has a comfortable sofa bed if required. There is a lovely wood-burning stove in the living area and heaters in each room making the house ideal all year round. The house is always immaculate being looked after by our neighbours in the village who are on hand if needed during your stay.

The house is maintained and furnished to a high standard and is a home away from home. Spanish television and a slection of free UK channels (including SKY News) are available as is wi-fi internet access throughout the house and terrace.

Local Activities: Gaucin is a wonderful location for bird watching being on the migratory route from Africa to Europe. There are two horse riding centres close by and organised walks take place regularly leaving from the village.

The river running through the valley is ideal for swimming, fishing, diving and generally exploring.

Festivals and Fiestas: A number of festivals take place during the year including the Semana Santa (holy week) processions. The running of the bull on Easter Sunday (a big highlight attracting large crowds).

The feria in August has a fairground, music and dancing.

Getting Around: Whilst car hire is recommended for exploring the locality it is not essential as we can organise taxi collection from the airports and local transport for day-trips etc. Once in the village all amenities are within walking distance.

About Graham Wood

I was born in Fife, Scotland. I am a chartered accountant and work as a company accountant in Dundee. I am in the fortunate position of being able to work remotely some of the time and able to spend this time in the wonderful village of Gaucin.

Why Graham Wood chose Gaucín

Having holidayed with family in the summer of 2004 we returned in the autumn to look for a possible holiday home. We chose this property because of its location high up in the village with the full Gaucin view. The house was in need of complete rebuild and finally ready in the spring of 2006. We have made the most of the property over the years with family and friends and it has been a home from home.

The views from the terrace are incredible and take the breath away everytime.

The staircases are open in the traditional style. There is a large wood burning stove in the living area which is ideal for warming up the cooler winter evenings. A basket of logs is included in the rental during winter months. Each room has wall mounted radiators which again make the house ideal for the winter months. The large outdoor village pool is 5 minutes walk away and is open in the summer months. The village tennis court is open all year round. Wi-fi internet access is available. An ipod dock is available.

Lovely hideaway in beautiful Gaucin

My wife and I stayed at this property in November and were blown away by the stunning views from the third floor terrace. This house has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The terrace has panaramic views where you can enjoy a coffee in the morning or wine at sunset in the evenings. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge for cold nights, and the whole house is equipped for a very comfortable stay. Every detail has been considered. We very much enjoyed our stay at this property.

Typical village house clean tidy well equipped.

Gaucin is a lovely busy village in season with many facilities. The village house has everything for a short break. In September with darker mornings and evenings we found the lower two floors rather dark with the only bright light 2 flights up on the patio. This would be an advantage in the heat of summer.

A beautifully finished property with everything that you would need provided.

Loved this property. Everything was to a high standard. Comfortable bed, cosy lounge, everything you could need in the kitchen, lovely shower with intermittent loss of hot water but no real issue, just the quirk of the system. We had been left some supplies which were very welcome and very thoughtful. The roof terrace is well done and offers both full sun and shade if required. Also spectacular vies down to the sea and Gibralter. We had a problem with the broadband and TV signal for Sky News but Graham was on hand and resolved all the issues. We were in Gaucin for the 3 day festival so a lot happening in an otherwise sleepy town. Lots of good bars and restaurants. You just have to work out which one is open when. Would definitely recommend and would certainly stay there again. The only drawback would be if you had a problem climbing stairs.

Fantastic space in a lovely Village

We had a wonderful stay at this fantastic house in a lovely village. We found the property very easily from the directions given. The village has many pleasant bars and restaurants and a very good Municipal outdoor pool, which we used on a regular basis.

The rooftop terrace is a truly wonderful space giving fantastic views towards the castle and village to your left. Down to Gibraltar and Morroco to the centre and the El hacho to the right.

We spent a lot time here just admiring the views and soaking up the sun and also the shade that the canopy offered.

Perfect in every way

One of the loveliest places I have stayed in Gaucin. Awesome terrace and views, super clean and equipped house that is loved and cared for. Sometimes a holiday rental can feel souless but not this one... this is a beautiful home. Very helpful owner and even a lovely welcome package of all the essentials including a nice Spanish wine!

The house is situated high up in the mountain village of Gaucin in the Serrania de Ronda within convenient walking distance of all village facilities. Gaucin looks out towards Gibraltar and Africa beyond and the views from the house are particularly stunning. Ronda is 40 minutes by car and the coast and beaches 30 minutes. The airport at Malaga is 90 minutes away. The train station at El Colmenar is a 15 minute car journey away and trains run towards Algeciras in the South and Ronda and Granada to the North through beautiful countryside. There are numerous golf courses on the coast. The coastal resorts of Marbella, Estapona, Sotogrande etc. are easily reached as is Gibraltar. Tangier in Morocco is easily reached by fast ferry from Algeciras and is a wonderful day trip. Seville and Granada are just over two hours away. The village has a number of small supermarkets and other shops. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants all within a short walk away.
