About the property

WONDERFUL 3 BDRM 2 BA House, Fireplace - All Just Steps From 28 Miles of Beach

Our comfy beach house sits steps away from miles of incredible beach. It's the perfect place to make the most of your getaway. Go razor clamming in season, enjoy beach combing, fly a kite, explore seaside towns, take a run on the beach, visit a lighthouse, shuck some oysters or just curl up by the fire with a good book. Our beach house is the perfect spot to enjoy it all!

Our beach house has a unique, multi-level layout. We love to cook and the kitchen is well equipped. The centerpiece of the cozy living room (and house) is a wonderful fireplace that warms everything up.

Sleeping - There are 2 bedrooms off the main floor with a queen-sized bed in each and a QS sleeper sofa in the living room. There is a twin bed and a half-bath downstairs.

Bathrooms - The main bathroom accessed thru the master bedroom has wonderful shower with a fantastic skylight. The half-bath is in the lower level.

The Levels - There are 2 steps separating the living room area and kitchen as well as up to the master bedroom and bath. There is a stairway leading down the the lower sleeping area (twin bed) and half bath. The house is entered from the lower level and interior stairway or exterior stairs and upper deck.

We can accommodate up to 6 people.

Fun and Games - We have Wi-Fi, DirecTV and Netflix. There are lots of board games for your enjoyment. (Please note that while we subscribe to the best internet service available this is a more rural area so the internet can have issues at times such as during storms, etc) We also have a badminton and bocce ball set. We have kites galore and beach chairs in the garage for your use.

We provide a gas BBQ. If oysters are on the menu, go up to Oysterville and get world-famous Willapa Bay oysters fresh off the boat. We have shucking knives at the ready and a great outdoor cleaning table. Serve them as shooters or hot off the grill for a true northwest feast.

About Russ Woodruff

Our family has owned the beach house since 2002. Our daughter was 1 1/2 when we first started coming to the beach. It is her favorite place in the world and she doesn't ever remember the house not being in our family. That's the way it should be.

Russ Woodruff purchased this house in 2002

Why Russ Woodruff chose Long Beach Peninsula

I grew up on the east coast and our family made regular trips to the beach. Those trips are some of my favorite childhood memories. The beach house provides my family and our guests with similar, wonderful opportunities.

What makes this house unique

We're far enough from busy areas to provide a peaceful get-away yet close enough to be part of the area's many fun activities whenever we want. We are steps away from the dunes and 28 miles of incredible beach. You can't ask for more.

Great location, very close to the beach

  • 3 of 5

The house was clean and in a great location. We liked that we could walk out to the beach and see deer on the way. The neighborhood was very quiet. However, we did experience issues with the WiFi and were not able to use it at all. The house was not child proof and Russ did mention it so we brought our own gate to place above the staircase going down from the living room. Our toddler son did slip and fall on the stairs leading up to the master bedroom from the living room while trying to climb up them because though there were only a few steps, they were very tall. Also, be aware that since there are high ceilings which was very nice, it also made the sound carry everywhere. Communication with Russ was very easy.

Owner's Response: We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the beach. We love seeing the deer! As we describe in the listing, the house has a unique multi-level layout with some internal stairs. Many quests have commented on how fun they find the layout. While all stairs have secure handrails, little ones may need some help up and down. So sorry your toddler had a mishap. I wish you had contacted me or our local property manager about the wi-fi. Not sure what the issue was as I can connect from Seattle to the wi-fi thermostat. I'll check it out to make sure all is OK. Thank you for choosing our beach house for your getaway.

Great location with easy walk to the beach

Great vacation house, stocked with just about everything needed. Beach trail is only a couple houses down and a quick walk to the beach. Very quiet dead-end street. Great central location on the peninsula. We headed north to Oysterville to buy oysters and south to check out the shops/restaurants in Long Beach and hike to the lighthouse at Cape Disappointment. Miles and miles of beach to drive and check out birds and different things the tide brings in. Fun trip!!

We take our kids on a trip every summer. We try to go to a new place every time. The kids have already said they don't want to go anywhere else. We will definitely be back next summer!

Fabouls family getaway house!

My family (me, my wife, kids 5 and 9), stayed 3 nights and loved every minute of it. The location is perfect...just two homes are between you and the dunes. The trail through the dunes to the beach is clear and easy to get through. The house itself is exactly as described. It was small, but cozy. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the supplies you need (though some hadn't been used in a while and needed an extra wash--no big deal). The beds were not fancy, premium mattresses, but were perfectly comfortable. I have a bad back that had been recently injured, and I slept quite well on the firm mattress in the master bedroom. The wifi and TV worked great, though some extra directions on how to actually get to the Netflix streaming would be helpful (We figured it out, but it took a bit). We brought our own kites, but the selection of beach toys, kites, and chairs in the garage was great. The big plastic cart to load things into and pull to the beach was a huge benefit!

A couple of things to be aware of. First, the bathroom upstairs is in the master bedroom, so anyone staying in the second bedroom needs to come into the master at night. Not an issue for us with the kids, but for some folks it may not be ideal. Second, the main entrance to the house opens into the downstairs bedroom with the twin bed. Again, didn't bother us, but I know some families that wouldn't want kids sleeping in a room like that. Finally, if you have very young children, the house may not be toddler-proofed enough, especially with all the stairs. Again, these items are simply to give a clear picture of the home...they are not complaints!

Russ was extremely responsive to the quick few questions we had, and had also contacted us ahead of time with info and an update. Sandy down the street checked in and was very gracious. The house is cute, clean, comfortable, and ideally situated. We have stayed at several places on the Long Beach Peninsula (most more expensive than this rental), but I think we have found our "go to" rental! We can't wait to come back!

Owner's Response: Delighted you enjoyed your getaway to the beach. Thanks for the helpful comments. Indeed the main bath is via the master bedroom as we describe in the listing. There is a 1/2 bath on the lower level to provide an option. We have flexible sleeping arrangements as our guests have different needs. The lower level twin bed may not be appropriate for everyone. However, on the upper level we have 2 QS beds, a QS sleeper sofa as well as a folding twin-size trundle bed. Wonderful to be your "Go-To" destination for beach vacations. We look forward to hosting you all for future stays at the beach.

Property is close to long beach and is just a short walk to the ocean. Russ has sand toys and kites for use which our kids loved. Would definitely stay here again.

We love to go to the beach throughout the year. No matter the season, there are always fun things happening. Here are a few of our favorites:

* Summer brings long days on the beach. Hike, read, build sand castles, watch the many types of birds, hunt for sand dollars. The beach provides for as much or as little as you want to do.

* The 4th of July is one big neighborhood celebration. Walk to the beach in the evening to see jaw-dropping amount of fireworks as far as you can see in either direction.

* August - See some of the most fantastic kites in the world during the International Kite Festival.

* September – Labor Day weekend has all sorts of fun activites on the peninsula. If cars are your thing then you won't want to miss the Rod Run to the End of the World

* Oct 1 - Nov 15: Wild Mushroom Celebrations: Restaurants & Classes. Want to hunt for some your selves? The peninsula has some of the best mushrooms in the world.

* Mid-Oct: The Cranberrian Festival gets you up close to our famous cranberry bogs. One Sky One World Kite Festival

* Nov/Dec: The holidays bring parades and tree lighting to Long Beach along with the lighted boat parade and 'The World's tallest Crab Pot Christmas Tree' in Ilwaco at the south end of the peninsula. And then there is the one and only 'Tuba Christmas' in Ilwaco in mid Dec.

* May: Loyalty Day parade in Long Beach is lots of fun. Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer season. Looking for treasures? This weekend also includes the World’s Longest Garage Sale – with sales up and down the peninsula.

* June: The Garlic Festival in Ocean Park gets our vote for most fragrant.

* We love to walk to the beach and dig for razor clams fall, winter and spring. We've got clam gear ready to go.

* Bring a lunch and go for a day hike in Leadbetter Point State Park at the northern tip of the peninsula.

* Enjoy the fun shops in Ocean Park, Long Beach and Ilwaco.

* Want to explore a bit further. This is a great spot for easy day trips to historic Astoria, Seaside and Cannon Beach. Plus the journey involves the spectacular 4 mile bridge crossing the Columbia River.
