“Lilas” overlooks the historic fishing village of Cassis. The centrally located apartment is on the second floor of a residential building surrounded by shady palm trees and pines. Situated in the town centre, 300m from the nearest beach and port, you will find all amenities within walking distance. Lilas benefits from private, barrier controlled parking, a huge bonus in high season Cassis.

The large, air conditioned double bedroom has sliding doors that lead onto a southern balcony with wonderful views towards the sea, medieval chateau and Cap Canaille. The spacious, air conditioned living room shares the same stunning view; the balcony is a great spot for an alfresco meal or sundowner, watching the changing light at dusk and the illumination of the clock tower at nightfall. A fitted kitchen with household appliances (dishwasher, oven, microwave, 2 ring ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, coffee machine) leads into a loggia where there is a washing machine and additional storage. The new shower room and separate wc were fitted in 2017.

There is also a hair-dryer, iron, ironing board, satellite TV, CD/DVD player, wireless internet, a cot and a high chair, . We have a small selection of books and DVDs and an aux cable so you can connect your own music devices. All linen (sheets, towels, beach towels, bath mat, tea towels) and household cleaning products are provided.

Inviting restaurants and bars spill out onto the streets surrounding the port and market square, both close to a safe, sandy beach. All this is within five minutes' walking distance from the apartment through Cassis’ narrow cobbled streets.

Spectacular hidden coves (les Calanques) are just a boat-ride away alternatively walk or canoe to the limestone slabs and enjoy the sun drenched rocks; read, swim, sun bathe, snorkel ........

The colourful market comes to the village square twice a week. The scene is just as you imagine....olives, cheese, honey, fruit and vegetables together with that essential bustle of people.

Cassis is one of the truly unspoilt parts of the Cote d’Azur. Thanks to the national park, medieval castle and the famous vineyards, property developers have been kept out and Cassis has retained its 16th and 18th century architecture.

About Annika Purkhardt

We fell in love with Cassis whilst on a rock climbing trip several years ago. Cassis is a gem; it is a classic, old, Mediterranean fishing village steeped in history and packed with wonderful restaurants and shops. The port and the promenade is an eclectic mix of boats, yachts, bars, cafes and restaurants with a wonderful atmosphere of its own.

So good we'd like to return

We've been renting apartments or gites in France for almost 30 years and Lilas is one of the very few we both agreed we would want to return to. We have stayed in Provence and further along the coast more than half a dozen times so were familiar with this part of France. We stayed for a week after taking a few days driving down to Cassis and spent all of our time in and around the town, in part because it was so hot during our stay - 34C or thereabouts most of the time.

The apartment itself is practical (especially the wifi and private parking) and comfortable - possibly the most comfortable bed anywhere we've stayed! - and, as others have said, in a great location just 5 minutes walk from the harbour, bars, restaurants, beach. The beautiful restful views from the veranda can't be over-estimated and really added to the pleasure and relaxation of the holiday. Annika's driving directions to find the apartment and meet up with Victor were essential and worked perfectly.

Cassis itself is compact and delightful; interesting little side streets, great reasonably priced restaurants, twice weekly market, events in the harbour. The boat trip to the calanques is a must. We liked both Plage du Bestouan - approx 15 mins walk from Lilas - for the snorkelling (which included following an octopus hunting among the rocks!) and the main beach which is nearer. It was lovely just sitting in the bars lining the harbour and watching the world go by. Equally, if you haven't been to this part of France before Cassis is a good base to visit other places nearby.

Annika, the owner, responded promptly and helpfully to all our initial and subsequent enquiries about the apartment and made it clear we could contact her at any time. Victor, 'the man on the spot', was equally helpful and approachable during our stay. Thanks to both of them and we hope to return!

Recently renovated and decorated this is a lovely clean and convenient apartment.

Its location is ideal, a short walk into the centre of Cassis and yet situated away from the hustle and bustle. Not too far from a boulangerie to collect your morning baguette or croissants for breakfast on the balcony.

The balcony provides a small outside space to watch the changing evening light and enjoy a glass of wine.

The new shower room was a pleasure to use and the large bed very comfortable with superior linens provided.

The air conditioning worked very well and was much appreciated in the hot weather we experienced.

We didn't actually use the small kitchen much as there were so many great restaurants around to choose from, but it appeared to be well stocked with all you would need and there was a good choice of crockery and glasses to use.

If there are any suggestions I would make it would be to provide some extra bin bags for use but that's a small detail!

Overall we had a great time staying here and wouldn't hesitate to visit again .Thank you.

Fantastic place .and with the new paint job and new bathroom its delux .a true slice of provence

Casis is very cute and a down to earth slice of provence..the property is nice and close to the habour- fishing village.

The appartment is a great size for 4 peolpe and whats great is that its located on the top floor so there is no one above you, not to mention the great views .

Perfect apartment in great location

We spent four glorious days in Cassis staying in the wonderful Lilas apartment. The apartment is lovely with good quality bedlinen and furnishings. The kitchen had everything one could possibly need and we cooked delicious meals with fresh produce bought in the local market which we thoroughly enjoyed meandering through followed by a coffee in a cafe with the locals. The view from the balcony is stunning and we enjoyed several glasses of local wine watching the light changing in the early evening! Victor who met us on our arrival is charming and helpful, we will definitely be returning to Lilas.

The Calanques, a national park, are Provencal fjords with crystal clear turquoise water. Framed by white limestone cliffs and the deep blue of the ocean, secret beaches and coves await discovery. Catch a boat from the port (they leave every half hour) or walk in the Calanques where you can enjoy a picnic, the sun and a spot of diving or snorkelling, or just sit back and catch some rays! A renowned diving area, complete with Roman wrecks, lies half an hour's boat ride out to sea. Alternatively you may prefer to take advantage of the world famous rock climbing nearby or just enjoy a peaceful stroll along the water's edge or watching the world pass by from one of the many bars and cafes along the port.

Cassis produces a delicious white wine, the result of a long tradition of wine making. Many of the local Chateaux welcome visitors and offer free wine tasting.

Other enjoyable days out include visits to Marseille or Aix-en-Provence where music and dance festivals take place regularly.
