Paradise Ocean View Cabins
Beautiful new cabin furnished with a king size bed featuring soft, comfortable, 100% cotton sheets and duvets. Perfect for a single person or a couple. Located on a rural sustainable, family farm on the slope of Mauna Kea (the tallest mountain on the planet). Epic views of the Pacific Ocean close enough to hear the waves and watch the whales when they are in season. Our farm also features an incredibly beautiful accessible waterfall which cascades down to the ocean less than a 5 min walk from your cabin!
On site laundry service is available. We have a spotless bathroom and a full community kitchen to prepare your own food. We love to share seasonally farm fresh produce we have grown when available, including bananas, papayas, and eggs from our chickens. We have complementary Wi-Fi internet access available to our guests, and best of all the stream and waterfall are accessible and just a short walk from your cabin.
Interaction with Guests
The hosts live on the farm in the Waterfall cabin about 100 yards from the cluster of cabins, and our caretakers Sean and Margaret live in the Earth cabin. Ours is a community setting with a common kitchen and bathrooms for the three cabins in the cluster. Your cabin is essentially a private bedroom with a lanai (porch) overlooking the kitchen garden. Outdoor living is the natural order here at our home in paradise. We respect our guests’ privacy and are available to recommend our favorite places to go and things to do on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Pepe'ekeo is a small rural town on the beautiful Hamakua coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Hamakua translates as - Ha - the breath of life - Ma - belonging to - Ku -the gods - A - all of them. So our farm is on the coast belonging to the breath of life of all the gods. Yes, this is truly paradise! Only 12 miles from Hilo town, it has convenient access to many of the Island attractions, yet has a laid back Hawaiian style country feel. Our 15 acre farm is fully fenced in, providing ample space for our guests' privacy.
Vehicle rental is fairly essential for getting around the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii.
We have three sweet and friendly dogs here on the farm who roam freely within our completely fenced in 15 acres. They’re a good little bunch and we hope you enjoy them.
We live on a sustainable family farm in paradise, and are passionate about farm to table meals!
We raise our own cows to help us keep the grass cut and also to keep our freezer full of beef.
Our cows graze freely on our land and live happily and healthfully, playing and basking in the Hawaii sunshine.
We have a flock of free range chickens as well and collect fresh eggs daily. When available we will put some in the fridge for you.
Also we have fresh fruit on the farm that we happily share. Our wide variety of bananas, papayas and pineapples are growing in abundance as well as beautiful squash and other seasonal veggies.
In order to keep our beautiful farm in the best possible condition for guests and ourselves we have a few simple guidelines to maintain our home in paradise.
Check in is between 2:00 - 5:00 PM. Our farm is out in the country and there are no street lights, so it gets very dark after sunset. It is much easier to find and more pleasant for everybody if you check in from 2:00 - 5:00. Check out is by 10:00 AM. If you would please communicate with us the day of your arrival to coordinate your arrival time that will ensure that someone is here to check you in.
1.) We ask that you do not bring food or beverages other than water into the sleeping cabins. There is a table for two on each lanai as well as a beautiful kitchen and a table overlooking the Pacific for you to enjoy your meals and beverages.
2.) Please leave your shoes outside of the cabins.
3.) No smoking in any of the cabins.
Thank you for booking a stay in a cabin on our farm in Pepe’ekeo! We are sure that you will love it here, and to help ensure a fantastic stay, here are some things we think might be nice to know:
-Our farm is only 10 miles from town, but feels like it is out in the country. A flashlight or headlamp is useful for walking around after sunset.
-Slippas aka flip flops are the most practical and comfortable footwear for Hawaii. Get yourself a pair of LocalsTM at the grocery store for about $5 to fit right in. Also local customs ask that you please leave them at the door.
-If you are planning on visiting Mauna Kea, know that the summit is almost 14,000 feet above sea level and is surprisingly cold.
If you have any questions, let us know. We are happy to give you a locals insight into things to see and do on the Beautiful Big Island of Hawaii!
My wife and I loved this place. We went to sleep every night to coqui frogs and rain showers every night. It is very close to Hilo only about 10 minutes away. The owner and caretaker were extremely nice and helpful. We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone visiting the area.
My wife, our two year old and I just spent a week at the Paradise Farmstay in Pepeekeo and we could not have had a better experience. The property is beautiful and situated in a perfect place - convenient to Hilo shops and restaurants yet tucked away in an area that feels quiet and remote. Our hosts were incredibly kind and gracious and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed and comfortable. Our room was perfect - a huge comfortable bed and lovely lanai where we could sit and have breakfast watching the sun come up over the ocean. The bathroom and kitchen facilities were spotless and everything we could have hoped for - we especially loved the private outdoor shower. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and cannot wait to come back. If you are visiting Hilo and looking for a unique and beautiful place to stay I highly recommend staying here!
My partner and I stayed here during out trip to the Big Island. The farm itself is well kept, clean, fully stocked, and has an amazing setting. While we were there it was quite rainy, which meant that we were unable to use the outdoor fire, and enjoy the landscape, but overall we loved this place. We only spent 2 nights there and were sad to leave in the end. Everyone there was extremely helpful and kind, and the banana's were amazing. :)
My husband and I just stayed here last week, and we loved it! It was peaceful, relaxing, and the owners were so friendly and helpful.
I loved the feeling of being on a farm. Loved the dogs! Marcus and Sean were very nice and helpful. Mary Ellen and Margaret were out of town. I didn't get any eggs the entire time I was there and was somewhat disappointed. I also didn't like having to walk to and share a bathroom. And that wasn't clear on the description.
Make sure you take plenty of paper towels for the kitchen and tissues for your room. They don't share or provide these things. All-in-all, very nice people, sweet dogs, beautiful location and adequate accommodations.
The farm is a beautiful rural property in Pepeekeo. We were treated like family by Shaun, Margaret, Mary Ellen, and Markus. Enjoyed getting to know you guys. This is a very laid back setting and the cabins, kitchen, and bathroom are very clean. We enjoyed preparing meals in the community kitchen. If you are an all inclusive resort type vacationer, you may not enjoy it. If you enjoy the outdoors and relaxing in a quiet rural setting, you will love it. We didn't want to leave. Ask Shaun about taking a tour with Paradise Helicopters. He works there. The helicopter tour was one of many highlights of the trip.
