Bagnoregio is a small village of Tuscia: it is 17 km from Orvieto, 28 km from Viterbo, 15 km from Lake Bolsena and Montefiascone, 100 km from Rome and 120 from Siena. It 's the ideal starting point for excursions in the surrounding area, in the young and lively Tuscia as well as in the beautiful valley of the Badlands of Civita, a tiny hamlet perched on a fragile hill of clay. There have been many attempts to tear the erosion that sooner or later will lead to its demise. This is the reason that led to the small village to empty accommodate up to a few units. Here was born in a small house, long since swallowed by landslides, St. Bonaventure, Minister of the Franciscan, philosopher and writer, who was responsible for the fame of Civita in the World. The city experienced centuries of splendor until the earthquake of 1695 caused a series of landslides and subsequent collapse that led to the collapse of the only access road, now replaced by a 300 m long bridge which connects life to Bagnoregio. In the valley there are the gullies, high whitish clay formations. The best definition of Civita is Bonaventura Tecchi's, writer's native place, 'the dying city'.
In our apartment we use the Bed and Breakfast formula.
Mrs Anna will prepare you wonderful breakfasts!!!

A most comfortable apartment in a lovely gated house. The owner was most attentive. The breakfast gourmet. The overall ambiance was a credit to Italy's culture.
Our family of four stayed at Le Fontanelle for just one night. Such a nice and big house! Two huge bathrooms, two large bedrooms with comfy beds, full kitchen and a living/dining room. And the garden is also huge and beautiful. Ms. Anna is very nice and greets you in the morning with a nice breakfast. The house is a short drive away from Civita di Bagnoregio.
I have just good memories about our stay at Le Fontanelle. Me and my wife had a warm welcome by the owner and an equally wonderful continuation of holiday.
About the area, What to say ? It's all wonderful: Orvieto and Civita are both unique villages.
Civita above all gave us wonderful sensations.
We discovered this village by accident while we were looking for an accomodation in more popular countries of tuscia area. We were lucky enough to have chosen this beautiful house, perfect for a family like ours (with 2 boys age 9 and 12).
The interior is very comfortable and well furnished; the garden too is well maintened.
About the town of Civita, that is just few steps, I can say that is indeed a precious pearl and a magical hamlet out of the time.
A special thanks even to Anna who made us feel like home and prepared terrific breakfasts.
