Lovely apartment in Montmatre
This is a nice, spacious apartment with two large rooms and a stocked kitchen. We weren't able to take advantage of the terrace due to the cold temps, but if you visit during a warmer time, it will be a great space for dining. The apt. is around the corner from a Metro stop, so transportation is easy, but keep in mind you are 15 or so minutes away from the main sites of Paris via the Metro, so just allow some extra time. The place is family friendly, but some of the furniture may not be so great for little kids. Humfred has some great collections from his travels but you may have to watch any littles around some of the pieces. Humfred is responsive and very helpful when you have questions or need assistance.
Great hospitality, great place and neighborhood
The place is very nice and the host was just incredible. It's also a great part of town with plenty of small shops and restaurants. We were very happy to stay there.
Great location in a lovely Parisian neighbourhood
Humfred greeted us with a smile and showed us around the apartment, which is warm and comfortable before showing us around the neigbourhood pointing out places to buy food, homemade ice cream (we have kids), restaurants etc. The kitchen is well equipped - not that we cooked much as there are so many great restaurants and bistros nearby. The metro is at the end of the street making sight seeing easy and Sacré-Cœur is a short walk away. We'd definitely stay at the apartment again. The terrace and visiting cat were a hit with our kids and we appreciated the unique decor, village feel of the neighbourhood, and proximity to transportation.
The apartment was not quite what we were expecting. The tribal décor and heavy wooden furniture were certainly not to our taste. On the plus side, it was on the ground floor so no stairs or lifts, and the nicest feature was the terrace which we were able to enjoy because of the warm weather. Even though the apartment is quite close to a main street, a Metro station and lots of shopping, it was quiet.
On the down side, the beds were very hard with soft flat pillows and there was no comfortable seating anywhere in the apartment. There were some sharp edges - my wife hurt her leg on a corner of the bed. The place was cluttered with lots of drawers and even wardrobes filled with all sorts of miscellaneous junk - there were lots of elephants and books lying around. The kitchen had enough cutlery and crockery for a small army but some of it, especially the kettle, needed a good cleaning before being used. The controls for the oven could only be read by getting down on my knees with a torch. The fridge was huge but there was very little storage space for things like bread and biscuits. I kept hitting my head on the hood over the cooker. The bathroom was rather claustrophobic and there was not always enough hot water for a bath. The bedrooms were huge with nice high ceilings and plenty of light from the windows - the curtains need to be either cleaned or replaced - but there was only one working lamp in the second bedroom.
A friendly and rather noisy cat who had obviously been spoiled by previous guests made a daily visit.
We had high hopes for this apartment which were only partially fulfilled. We try to visit Paris at least once a year but we will not be staying at this apartment again. We had been attracted by the terrace but the interior was something we put up with rather than enjoyed.
Felt like the perfect quaint Parisian apartment one would envision!
Humfred’s place was great! We loved the terrace and garden. The neighborhood was centrally located and we enjoyed the areas near sacre court the most! Cafe Pimpin was tasty and right around the corner. The metro was a quick walk. The apartment worked well for us and our 3 small children. We were able to cook meals for some of the evenings. The only things I wished for while we were there were toiletries (there was only 1/4 of a bar of soap to service the whole apartment), a shower attached to the wall versus just handheld, a few basics in the kitchen, like coffee, sugar, olive oil, and spices, some pillows of varying fluffiness (they were all quite flat) and the knowledge that the washing machine doesn’t really function on the dryer setting, so we would’ve brought more clothes instead of planning on doing laundry. Having said that, Sofia brought salt and pepper over at some point and Edna brought over a drying rack for our wet clothes. Everyone was lovely and we would stay again...
Quaint, well decorated and well equipped apartment in a fantastic location!
We loved this apartment! Our first impression was great! From the furniture and decor, the access to the outdoor space, the well equipped kitchen, the location to the resident cat, we were impressed by it all. Humfred was very responsive and helpful and so was Sophia. We will definitely stay here again!
