This single story home, located inside the Parks gates, has 3 Ensuite Bedrooms with Queen beds and a 4th all purpose room that has a Murphy Bed, a 4th toilet and shower and the washer / dryer. The Master Bath has a Jacuzzi bath tub. A large Great Room opens to the Dining area and Chef's kitchen. The living room has a 50" HD widescreen TV with Satellite HD programming, Satellite Wi-Fi internet access and a Danish Soap Stone wood burning fireplace. This home is one level, easy access, perfect for seniors and those with walking disabilities. The large outdoor deck area has a gas grill, table and chairs. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am.
Location!! The house is located within the park boundaries, inside the gates of Yosemite National Park, and about ten minutes by car to Yosemite's three most famous areas, Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwoods. It sits in Yosemite West which is a private enclave of homes, between the two entrances. The park amenities are just a short drive from the house. Once you are past the gate you can freely roam around without the need to leave the Park and re-enter.
The house was designed as a B&B. Therefore, it has 3 separate bedrooms AND bathrooms. AND a 4th room with a Queen Murphy bed AND another bathroom. It's easy to find vacation homes with lots of sleeping space but not with individual bathrooms.
Our children are grown and as a family we choose a new destination to meet and celebrate Thanksgiving each year. This year we chose Yosemite. My daughter had hiked Half Dome over Labor Day and decided Yosemite was a must for Thanksgiving this year.
Quail Crossing, was the perfect spot for the four of us and our dog. We had a lovely hike with the dogs around Lower Yosemite Falls on Thanksgiving morning and a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner at the cabin later that evening. Prudence even provided a new roasting pan for our turkey!
We enjoyed a lovely snowy holiday. The wood burning stove was a delight, though when we arrived it had a "Absolutely No Fires" sign on it. Fortunately, Kevin, who works for property manager came by with kindling the next day and said the sign was no longer applicable and should have been removed. I wish we had known that the first night, as a fire would have been welcome after the long drive. The house is laid out nicely and a single story is nice, especially with a senior dog. The yard is not fenced, but the porch is secured by a gate, so the dog could venture outdoors without fear of wandering off.
The kitchen functioned well. I would suggest that one morning's supply of coffee be provided, to tide a tired traveler over until she can get to the store the next morning. The market is in Oak Grove, about an hour's drive from the cabin. I would advise that you stop at the market for the basics, before continuing up to the cabin. The kitchen only had one baking dish and we had to buy a set of measuring spoons for the house, but these were more of an issue due to our holiday menu. I would also suggest that a copy of departure instructions be provided in the information binder. We had to call property manager to learn that there were in fact no special instructions needed. We just had to secure house, insure heat was off and return key to the lock box. Easy as can be!
I would happily recommend this home to a family traveling to Yosemite. The snow did slow down travel times to destinations around the park, but not so much that you couldn't get out and enjoy all the park had to offer. We had a lovely brunch at The Majestic (formerly The Awahnee) and found the snow had not fallen in the valley, so we were able to enjoy autumn foliage at the valley floor and snow at the cabin. Perfect!
My thanks to Prudence for providing such an inviting home. We hope to return one day soon.
This was my first experience with VRBO and I started looking at rentals when the Majestic was full and I'm so glad it was! This property is perfect for families. We have 3 kids and after spending the day hiking it was wonderful to come back and have plenty of space and bathrooms! The house is clean and the property owners are extremely responsive to questions. I didn't weigh a single story house too heavily at first but looking back it was nice to have :) Having a washer and dryer was awesome. Wifi is as others stated and ok for email and text. We didn't really have too much time for tv but what we did watch, with dish tv we were fine :) The speed limit in the park is about 30 mph. Glacier point road is 1.6 miles from the cabin then 15 miles to the lookout. The valley takes about 25 min but again the convenience of the space outweighed this for us and the views along the drive are beautiful! Arrive in the Valley early ie 9 -10 or earlier, get a spot, and use the shuttle. Do not give up your precious spot until you're ready to leave. It was packed when we were there which is another reason staying in the Valley would've driven us nuts. Be sure to go back for some nice evening hikes :) I wouldn't bother looking at Fish Camp or Oakhurst. When researching for this trip, I thought those would be viable options, but after visiting, the drive is way too far from Yosemite Valley. Fuel up before getting to the gates. There are not any convenient gas stations in the park. Again, if you have a family this is a wonderful spot. We would definitely stay here on our next visit (even if the Valley hotels have rooms available) :)
This was the perfect place to stay while we spent four days in the park. It is very spacious and clean. The open living area was bigger than I expected, and the deck had a cool breeze and was so enjoyable to sit on and read or eat as a family. This property was situated so you can get to most of the big attractions in the park within 20-30 minutes. It was wonderful having a bedroom and bathroom for everyone. We couldn't have been happier with our stay here. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the park.
This home is the Quail Crossing Lodge (the name comes up as "Single Story Spacious Home" on VRBO). Rented this for our family reunion last week and was blown away. Each bedroom has its own large bathroom, the kitchen is gorgeous with a spacious great room. The porches are a great way to spend your evenings enjoying company, and the location cannot be beat.
Landlord was really flexible and informative.
This house is fantastic. Everything you need is there. The kitchen is very well-equipped and the rooms are large and very nice. There is wifi but the service is spotty and slow. I can't fault anyone for this because the house is in Yosemite after all. Frankly, this was not a downside for me because it forced me to take time off from checking work email. Direct TV programming was a nice plus. The one thing I found strange was there was no DVD player yet there were a few DVDs available in the house. My family and I enjoyed being just a short drive away from the Valley. It was especially nice to be able to sleep in a comfortable bed, wake up early, have breakfast, head out for a hike to one of the many waterfalls and other beautiful places in Yosemite, and come back to a house where you could shower, cook comfortably, and relax for the rest of the day. Deer were plentiful in and around the yard. We even saw a few bears so do mind all the warnings to not leave food in your car. I definitely will return and have recommended this place to my friends and family.
This is my 3rd visit to a property in Yosemite West. This house was very comfortable with plenty of amenities. We stayed with another family (total of 4 adults and 2 toddlers) and there was ample space with lots of room to spare. There is central heating and a tuluviki style wood burning stove (which we did not use as it appeared more complex to use than a standard wood stove) This is a good launching point for activities in Badger Pass and Yosemite Valley. The property is large and the snow covered yard had the perfect slope for sledding with little ones. There were a few finicky issues like a whirlpool tub that was not working, and internet access/entertainment which was not initially set up when we arrived. This was not too much of a problem for us but may be for those who need fast internet access or television entertainment. The kitchen is large and can accommodate a big group for entertaining. The beds were comfortable and there was enough bedding for all of us. There is a small driveway with enough room for one vehicle. Additional vehicles may need to park elsewhere like the cul de sac nearby. We were a bit taken aback by the added fees for additional people (including toddlers) but I believe this is set up through HomeAway/VRBO. We'll definitely consider coming again but we hope they get the whirlpool tub fixed and have better pricing for families with small children.
We are located inside the gates of Yosemite National Park and are minutes by car to Yosemite's three most famous areas, Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwoods.
