We are from California and came out to Utah with the intention of spending a single winter. The breathtaking landscapes of this place, the unbeatable skiing, and the nice people have kept us here for seven winters! We currently live on the Wasatch Front in Cottonwood Heights.
Tim Swain purchased this condo in 2014
This Condo and resort exceeded our expectations! The condo is perfect and the skiing was amazing!! We are definitely coming back next year.
This condo was truly our home away from home. We stayed a whole month. It is set in a cute little village resort in the Wasatch Mountains will all the amenities of a classy resort! It was comfortable and the full kitchen made it easy to help my family eat healthy. We did enjoy the Pizzaria and Creamery in the Village on a couple of occasions. The swimming, hiking, exercise room and other activities close by kept us busy. We would stay here again in a heart beat!
May was such a beautiful time of year to visit Solitude. We stayed here for a few days while we were in-between places in Salt Lake, and it was a perfect place to call home for little while. While the ski resort was closed for the season, the weather was perfect for exploring and seeing the mountains. It's also a quiet time of year, and we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Not only did the condo have everything we needed, but it was all so nice and clean and comfy. I'm always a little worried that the towels will be too small, the bed will be too firm or soft -- but this was definitely not the case at the Honeycomb condo! Everything was nicer and more comfortable than at my own house. A highlight for us at the condo was enjoying morning coffees in the sunshine on the small patio. Would love to come back again and enjoy Big Cottonwood Canyon at other times of the year.
We really enjoyed the condo and would recommend it. It worked very well for our family of 5 - 2 adults, 3 children. Our kids took turn sleeping on the pull-out in the living room - but they all claimed the pull-out was very comfortable and that the bunk beds worked well too. The king bedroom worked nicely for my husband and I. The wi-fi and t.v. also worked well.
The condo was very clean and had everything we needed. We also appreciated the use of the free washer and dryers on the 5th floor - wonderful to have dry ski clothes every day and to not go home with suitcases full of dirty laundry. The ski lockers on the 1st floor as well as parking were very easy to use as well.
We still can't get over how pleasant the spring skiing was at Solitude. It was so uncrowded - and my brother, who lives in SLC, said that it is a local favorite for just that reason. Everyone was so friendly and we all improved our skiing a lot. We skied 4 days at Solitude and a day at Deer Valley - and while that was wonderful - the value at Solitude is much better for multiple days of skiing. Definitely get your ski tickets online at least a day before - you will save money.
Great value, great place, great place. Recommend - yes.
We have just returned home after a great stay at Honeycomb Condo, Solitude, we stayed for 2 weeks and had a wonderful vacation.
Solitude is the perfect name for this amazing Mountain Village, even at weekends it is blissfully quiet on the slopes and the snow is fantastic. Only 5 minutes away is Brighton which also offered some fantastic skiing.
The Honeycomb Condo is in a perfect location to enjoy the slopes, just steps away from the Apex lift and all village amenities.
The condo is very well equipped and really felt like a home away from home, we were only 2 adults staying but the condo is super spacious and would be perfect for families also.
Booking the condo was very easy and Tim the owner could not have been more helpful, from my very first enquiry he answered my many questions very promptly and made the whole experience easy. He also was super flexible in helping to accommodate our check-In and check-out times making the arrival and departure experience second to none.
Overall a fantastic vacation in a charming location.
We will be back!
Our Solitude Honeycomb Condo was wonderful; it was exactly as advertised. Having the Village right at our fingertips was fantastic because our 13 and 15 year olds could go out to skate, get an ice cream, or use Club Solitude (pool table, video games and heated outdoor pool) on their own! The Condo was clean, equipment to make your own breakfast or dinners was very good, and the ski locker downstairs was a huge plus. Solitude is so convenient to what we came to Utah to do - - SKI! No need to go to Park City when you have the two Canyons - Little Cottonwood and Big Cottonwood Canyons (Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird). Better snow, better slopes, fewer skiers. We bought the SuperPass prior to our visit for 4 days of downhill skiing and it was so easy to get our pass right in the Village. Even got to see a Moose on our way to Alta and our first Potgut while skiing at Snowbird - -go ahead and google that animal! Check out the "ski tunnel" at Snowbird too! So much to do in this area -- we went to the Snowbird Nordiac Center one day to take Cross Country Ski lessons from an Armenian Olympian. The trails lead you back to HoneyComb Village and we all hopped on the shuttle back to the Nordic Center. The kids continued to Cross Country a few more hours on the trails and my husband and I went to Molly Greens A-frame bar at Brighton for lunch and drinks. Same fun ambiance from my last visit 20 years ago. Another day we went over to the Movie theatre in Sandy where is was $5 Monday tickets and saw Star Wars the Force Awakens. Can't beat the price! Then we went on our way to Antelope Island/Great Salt Lake. Saw buffalo, coyotes, antelope, a sleeping porcupine in a tree and then a tour of the only remaining Historical Mormon Farm on the island. New Years Eve at the Honeycomb Grill was fantastic with fondue, steak and awesome desserts. Don't miss out on going to the Olympic Oval (NOT at the Olympic Park) to learn how to CURL on Friday nights. $14 gets you an hour lesson and then an hour to play against other newbies in the sport. We really loved it and want to see if there is a club near us in New Jersey. We would definitely stay at this unit again through VRBO. All our correspondence prior to our visit with the owner was timely, pleasant and accurate. Upon our arrival, we had no need to contact him again since we received everything promised! Thank you so much for letting us rent your condo! Trying to save up to return!
