Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Marrakech

(Text automatically translated) Conveniently located just minutes from the famous Jemaa El Fna square, the entrance to the medina, this charming authentic Riad welcomes you for a relaxing stay in a beautiful decor with the colors of Morocco. The composition of this riad (3 bedrooms) is particularly popular with groups (friends, families, couples) who take advantage of the freshness of the small indoor pool, covered terrace, its deck. The cozy living room (with wood burning fireplace in winter) and is involved in relaxation after a day of sightseeing in the lively Place or colorful bustling souks. Traditional cuisine with refined presentation will be proposed in a romantic and friendly atmosphere. Your reception will be held upon arrival at the airport by taxi and then "Carrossa" until riad.

Best way to experience Marrakesh

  • 5 of 5

We just spent two weeks in Marrakesh at this Medina riad and had a great experience. The house was perfect for a family of 5: everyone had their own bedroom with comfortable beds, local decorations, and with modern en-suite bathrooms; at the same time we had the entire house at our disposal, which allowed us to sleep with the doors open towards the inner courtyard, and to have exclusive use of the public spaces: the inviting roof-top terrace, the beautiful living room with fireplace nook, and the inner courtyard with dining space and plunging pool. But the best thing about the riad was Fatima, who came daily to clean and cook. Her Moroccan dishes rival the best Marrakesh's restaurants offer, her conversation was a window into local customs, her natural gentle charm and professional demeanor added a lot to our Marrakesh experience. Highly recommended!

Good with a few negatives

  • 3 of 5

Only three stars given because this is a superb riad, but with some negative features.

A highly distinctive, spacious and elegantly-designed conversion on three floors in the heart of the Medina. This means it is within easy reach of the Place Jemaa el Fna and the other sights of central Marrakech plus many restaurants and other facilities. You want "character" and "local colour"??...you've got it! But you also have to negotiate a maze of narrow, crowded, noisy, dirty and motor-bike infested alleyways to reach the relative peace of the riad. "Relative" because you still have the clamour of shouting neighbours, the noise of workers undertaking the conversion of the house next door, plus the Muezzin waking you up at 5 a.m. every day! But there you are: if you don't want to stay in the "real" Marrakech, don't choose the Medina anyway.

A further advantage of being in the Medina is that you can do a lot of basic shopping in the immediate district, though a far wider choice of international quality (and a good range of alcohol) is available at the Carrefour at the Menara Mall (10 mins., 20 Dh. by taxi from the Pl. Jemaa el Fna)

Now for the no-no's. The stairs in the house are extremely steep and narrow (especially at the top) and not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. This is a pity because it's the only way to reach the pleasant roof terrace and store cupboard and without this access the riad tends to be rather claustrophobic. (No windows at all). Maintenance leaves a bit to be desired (lights not working, shower head broken, gas supply not checked, that sort of thing). For home-cookers, beware: the kitchen is a nightmare! Small, cramped, dirty and cluttered, including left-over and decomposing food supplies and rubbish. This is not YOUR kitchen, it's Fatima's. She herself is charming, friendly and helpful. Just a shame about her kitchen! She offers to cook for you from a menu of standard Moroccan dishes (tagines, couscous, etc), but after seeing the state of her kitchen, food store and rubbish arrangements, we decided against this - despite the ecstatic reviews by previous visitors. We really didn't understand why they were so positive in this respect

On the whole, we had an enjoyable time. Although we are old hands in Morocco and Marrakech, this was our first stay in the Medina itself and it was quite an experience after all.

Note: I have contacted the owner about the above failings, but have had no reply.

a little piece of Heaven and Tranquility in Medina

  • 5 of 5

Just beautiful, authentic and traditional with just the right infusion of contemporary decor and interior styling.

You can tell Christine has chosen her pieces and decor with patience and care. Every day I would wake and see another piece of detail in the tadelakt, lighting, tiling that made me fall more in love with this beautiful riad.

Fatima is truly an asset to Christine, an amazing petite gentle lady who is extremely good at her job, and obviously takes a pride in her role of caring for the guests of Christine's riad. A true bonus, a font of local knowledge, an amazing cook, we can sing her praises to Christine and all future guests the whole day long.

Christine, you have made a wonderful home and your choice of caretaker in Fatima, a truly excellent one.

Thank you both for excellent communication, hospitality and relaxation.

We would absolutely love to be back and hope it will be possible for us again.

Many thanks from Tracie, John, Jake & Tessa

Impeccable

  • 5 of 5

This is a cozy and beautiful riad with 3 colorful rooms and bathrooms, a charming living room, a terrace and a convenient kitchen. All the main souks and attractions of the old medina are at your doorstep. But … one and only one thing made our experience so worth it, our hostess Fatima. Fatima goes beyond your expectations and will help you indulge in every possible way. A great immersion into the historic Marrakech. A fantastic riad run by an exceptional hostess. Highly recommend.

"Thank you so much! we had a Wonderful 6 day holiday. The riad is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, quiet, safe, secure and in a great loacation.

Fatima is such a lovely gentle person. We all (my mum, brothers and partner) felt so looked after. We had a delicous breakfast every morning and Fatima was always on hand to offer advice or directions.

On it own the riad is wonderful but with Fatima its exceptional!

Superb

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Riad 127 in February 2016.

It was an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Djemaa El Fna square .

Set on two levels around an internal courtyard with a small refreshing pool in the centre it looks and feels like you imagine a riad should; calm, homely and comforting with a an architecture and feel not often experienced in Western Europe.

Capping it off is a spacious roof terrace, which catches the morning and evening sun. Loungers are available, so is a covered canopy with table. Weather permitting this must be one of the best places to have your breakfast in the city.

The views are pretty good too. Through the two palm trees and the jumble of satellite dishes and the rest of the medina you can glimpse the mountains standing out against the Moroccan sky.

The rooms themselves are tasteful and very comfortable; we always had a good night’s sleep.

Getting there is like discovering a gem at the end of a maze (though don’t worry you will find your way easily). Through a small door it opens into the courtyard. It feels like stumbling into a fairy tale.

Another gem is Fatima, who looks after the riad. A more friendly welcoming person it is hard to find and she will make sure that you will want for nothing and will have your breakfast ready on the terrace at the time you request it and if you want dinner then that is not a problem either. She will also make reservations for you if you want to go on an excursion and will give you advice about shopping and using local transport. she will help you in any way she can.

There is no better way after a day in the souks and alleyways of Marrakesh to come back to relax in the calmness of the riad and then not to worry about cooking or cleaning, just about relaxing.

The riad is very clean. There are plenty restaurants within walking distance or you can eat in the riad. Fatima will cook for you if you wish. We had breakfast there every day. This wasn't our original intention but after the first breakfast we couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

Most of Marrakech sites are within walking distance, even the hammam.

The owner provided us with all the information we needed before the trip, she answered every query very promptly.

If I go back to Marrakech I will stay there again. We have recommended the riad to all our friends, young and old.

(Age of travellers, mid sixties and mid thirties. We both enjoyed it equally.)
