Overview

About the property

In the heart of Provence, near Apt, Saignon, Roussillon and Bonnieux

You can't help but fall in love with Le Mas des Anges! An ideal place for 2 families or larger groups, Le Mas des Anges is a beautifully restored Provencal farmhouse in the heart of the Luberon. It has a very large garden, a beautiful pool and the most stunning views across the Luberon mountains. Ideally located amongst the lavender, olive groves and vineyards, and yet only 5 minutes from both the gorgeous hilltop village of Saignon and the charming town of Apt with its famous market and all amenities. The famous villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, Menerbes, and Roussillon are all within 10 to 20 minutes drive. Colorado de Rustrel is at a walking distance. You will be spoilt for choices of places to wine and dine, and for the more active there's lots to do.

The house itself is very spacious and full of charm with original terracotta floors, stone walls, beamed ceilings and very tasteful decoration. The outdoor space is fantastic (lots of shade and lots of sun!) with great views and a choice of al fresco dining (and napping!). Heated swimming pool (9x4m). Wifi available in the house.

Area 1 has the lounge, kitchen and dining area and shower room with toilet on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms upstairs (bedrooms 1 and 2) and a bathroom. Area 2 has the master suite on the ground floor (bedroom 3, bathroom, dressing room) and two bedrooms upstairs (bedrooms 4 and 5) and a shower room. This makes it perfect for 2 families who want to share a holiday but also have some space of their own. Note however that bedroom 2 is really a single room: it has a pull-out bed to make a double bed if needed, but then the room feels rather small (which is OK for children or for a young couple, but not suitable for more elderly people). We have 2 travel cots and 2 high chairs available.

Notes:
The house and garden are perfect for families. Apart from the pool, we have ping pong table, table football, swings, and videos and DVDs indoors (and a Clavinova piano!). There is also tennis and horse riding less than 5 minutes away. Note that the pool doesn't have a shallow and a deep end: it is the same depth throughout (about 160cm, or 5ft4'). This means little ones who can't swim will need floating aids. Careful when diving!

Wonderful property in a beautiful area!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house for a week, a family of 11, while traveling throughout the Provence region. The great location near Apt allowed us to enjoy the town's wide range of shops and food options, especially the Saturday morning market. A five minute drive from the Villa. Many other beautiful villages and vineyards are short drives away.

The large kitchen and big family table allowed us to cook large meals for the whole family and sit together for dinners, after which we enjoyed sitting in the cozy living room, filled with fun toys for children, and lighting up the fireplace.

We came in September so it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the pool, but that didn't stop the children from jumping in several times.

Two of the five bedrooms were perfect for couples as they had couple sized beds, In the other rooms we just connected the two single beds for the couples who stayed in them. We especially enjoyed the bath in the master bedroom.

Highly recommended for families and groups who want to enjoy the peace and quite of the region, with many fun things to do and see nearby.

Great property for a family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property with great views in a beautiful area. Confusingly, the property is not very close to the pretty village of Saignon which is about 7 mins drive away, but is in fact closer to Apt. Situated high on a ridge it has the benefit of whatever cooling breeze is available in the very hot 35 deg + weather when we were there. The super pool and spacious garden with lots of shade is ideal for children and family games. The property is nicely furnished and very well equipped. The master bedroom suite is divine, the other bedrooms are smaller but perfectly adequate and the separation into two bedroom areas provides good privacy for two families. The house was a joy to stay in and a wonderful setting for an important family celebration.

We had a great time. 5 adults and 2 children , one 5 months the other 2 years old, and the house was simply ideal. Absolutely no complaints: well-equipped, charming, and magnificent views.

A great find, full of charm!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week right at the beginning of June in this gorgeous house with my husband, 3 children aged 1, 3 and 5 and my parents in law. Right from the moment we arrived, we knew we'd made the right decision in choosing this place: we entered the gorgeous kitchen/living area and a few bottles of wine were waiting for us on the beautiful table with a welcome note from the owners. The whole house is very nicely decorated, with a lot of personal touches. The garden and pool are superb, with fantastic views. The place is very private and quiet, yet it doesn't feel isolated. The surrounding area is fantastic too (we knew it from a previous holiday in the area). A few minutes drive into Apt or Saignon for food shopping or cafe life is all we managed this time: we didn't want to leave the house all week! Thank you!!

Le Mas des Anges is close to the one of the most beautiful and unspoilt Provence villages, Saignon. It is also 5 minutes drive away from the small market town of Apt, where you'll find all amenities. It is at a walking distance from the Colorado de Rustrel. Roussillon and Bonnieux are at 20 mn drive. The house is ideally located for exploring the whole of the Luberon with its famous villages, wine tasting circuits, country walks, but also the more mountainous Alpes de Hautes Provence with the stunning Gorges du Verdon. It is also within an hour's drive of the beautiful towns of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, and just over an hour from Arles, Saint Remy or Nimes. The beautiful coast and beaches near Marseille are one and a half hour away and the French Riviera is 2 hours away.

Other Activities: Golf is 30 minutes drive away.
