Overview

About the property

perfect for large family, spacious, convenient, tasteful & well-appointed home

This home was purchased and outfitted as a vacation property in the fall of 2014, and we are eager to share it with others who visit our wonderful city!

UPDATE: Check out the multimillion dollar renovation Nashville Shores is doing this year - they are looking to become one of the best water parks in the country! Between Nashville Shores and the rest of beautiful Percy Priest Lake, both right around the corner, there's no better place to stay during your summer trip to Nashville!

The five-bedroom home is located in the Donelson community of Nashville, which is also where you'll find the airport, Opry Mills, the Grand Ole Opry, The famous Opryland Hotel and Resort, Percy Priest Lake and its phenomenal water park - Nashville Shores, and the greenway, which provides a bike trail that goes all the way to downtown. Also, the Elm Hill Marina and Shipwreck Cove Restaurant are less than a mile away, where you can grab dinner or rent a pontoon boat.

Downtown Nashville is a quick trip, at just 12 interstate miles way. You can drive in yourself, take a cab or a 'Lyft' (google it, it's a great new app and a preferred way to travel), or use the local train - the Nashville Starr - which connects Donelson to Downtown and makes multiple round-trips each day. The airport is very close (about 3 miles), too, so it's easy to get there without fighting traffic if you have an early flight out of town.

The open living room has a very comfortable leather sofa with chaise, and it can seat 4-6 people, depending on size and how close you want to get to your friends. There is an additional chair across the room. To the side, there is a white table and four chairs, perfect for dining, TV viewing, or playing one of the many games in the house. The chairs roll, swivel, and recline.

The kitchen has everything that you would need to cook a full meal for a large group, including bakeware and a blender. Save a lot of money by preparing some meals at home. The granite counter tops and custom backsplash give the kitchen a luxury feel, and there is plenty of cabinet space, with a separate pantry.

The dining room features a hand-made custom table made of beautiful reclaimed barn wood. Eight can dine around this table, with four more seats in the adjacent living room.

The master bedroom, with a private bath, features a walk-in closet and a lot of space. It is at the top of the stairs and overlooks the front yard. The décor is neat and modern, with a custom reclaimed wood headboard, two bed-side tables, a flat-screen TV, a ceiling fan, and granite countertops in the bathroom. The bathroom also features a closet so that you can put things away while you stay.

Also upstairs are bedroom two and three. One features a queen bed and a cottage vibe, while the other has a double bed and a vintage Hawaiian vibe. Both have ceiling fans, plenty of natural light, and ample closet space. These two rooms share a hall bath, complete with granite countertops and a tub/shower combo. A tiled floor in varied blues is soothing and pleasing to the eye.

Downstairs, off of the dining room, are two more bedrooms, which share a full bath. First, you enter the bunk room, with loads of natural light and two bunk beds, sleeping four people. The decor is light and fun, and shelves allow you to unpack all of the clothes and other items that kids need when they travel. The shelves also contain several games for adults and kids, so you're never bored at this house.

Off of the bunk room is a private sitting room, with an outdoor entrance, and chairs for relaxing or reading. A small selection of books and magazines is provided for you.

The sitting room leads to the final bedroom, which features a queen bed and modern hip decor. High ceilings and natural light make the room feel bigger, and the adjacent sitting room offers a chest of drawers for unpacking. The room is comfortable and private, and it allows close access to the bunk room when necessary.

In case you're bringing a baby along, you'll be glad to find a Chicco high chair and a stroller for your use while at the house. A pack-n-play is also available (but bring your own sheets).

It is our wish to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience. If there is anything we can do toward that goal, please let us know, whether it's addressing a problem during your stay, helping you find services or activities, or suggesting some great Nashville cuisine.

About Lindsay Vaughn

I am a working, professional mother and wife, and I have a passion for traveling. There is so much of the world that I am eager to see, and I hope that by successfully hosting guests in the properties I've acquired, I will be able to get there in this lifetime. Personally, I haven't stayed in a hotel in years, as I really enjoy having the space, privacy, and personal touch afforded by a VRBO property. I hope to provide my guests with the same type of experience that I seek when I'm traveling.

Lindsay Vaughn purchased this house in 2014

Why Lindsay Vaughn chose Nashville

This adorable house provides plenty of space for large families or groups of friends traveling together. The location is convenient to downtown, and it's even closer than downtown to many other attractions, including the beautiful Percy Priest Lake, the Opry, and the airport.

What makes this house unique

The private pool is the perfect touch, and it really makes this property stand out from the competition. The large deck for outdoor dining, the patio for sun-bathing, and the covered cabana for relaxing might just make you want to stay here forever! Also, the adorable decor of the home add to the vacation vibe, give you a lot of interesting items to look at, and make you feel right at home, only better.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place felt like I was staying in a luxury hotel, but it also felt very homey and comfortable at the same time. It truly was the best of both worlds. The master bed was sooo comfortable! I almost didn't want to get up in the mornings. I loved that everyone in our group had their own bathrooms, too. Lounging on the couch to watch the game was also great - it was so comfy, and our whole family fit. I found it convenient to everything we wanted to visit, and I can't wait to come back in the summer so we can use the beautiful pool.

Marginal.

It was obvious that this rental has not been kept up. Numerous chairs were broken, the air conditioning system has not been serviced in some time - thus it broke down during our stay. The condenser coils were packed solid with dirt.

But the most concerning item was the recently installed stairway down to the pool. It was obvious that it was not installed by a professional contractor. There is a landing midway down which is very unusual and my sister fell to the concrete below. Luckily she was not seriously injured. There is also a "lip" near the top of the stairs causing a tripping hazard. Shoddy workmanship.

Great pool and outside area

  • 3 of 5

Loved the area, downtown Nashville was so much fun! Took advantage of the many sites to see and places to visit. Don't miss the exciting night life and music which is fun for all ages. The house was in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood. Very convenient ride to all the action on Broadway. The outside pool area was great, especially with children in the group. The house accommodated the ten of us, 8 adults and 2 children well enough. The furnishings left something to be desired. I feel it is only fair to mention this since I believe you would not accept it if you were paying to stay in a hotel for the same or less money. Overall a fun vacation and a good time!

Great for family get together

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 families with 3 small children and had lots of room. The kids especially enjoyed the bunk beds and we all enjoyed the pool as it was a steamy week. We toured The Hermitage and Ryman Theater and ate at some great restaurants in town. We visited parks as we were very close to Priest Lake; great location for us. Our only disappointment was the limited Internet access. This was not a luxurious accommodation but it was super for us.

Not what we expected

  • 3 of 5

This home was in a good location for us. A quiet neighborhood close to stores and restaurants and a short drive to downtown. The layout of the house was great - the kids had their own space in the garage addition and loved it. The pool area was also lovely. Based on the pictures on the website and previous reviews though, we expected much more. The home is very rundown. Little things that would seemingly be easy to fix, but were overlooked. The carpet desperately needs to be replaced. There were what looked like blood stains on our comforter. Our biggest issue was with the “high speed internet” which was nothing close to high speed. There was a note in the binder at the house that said that guests should not download or stream content. That should be listed on the website if the internet is not strong enough to even stream a YouTube video. The first day we could not even log onto simple sites like Facebook. We contacted the owner and she increased the data and we were able to do small things at a very slow rate. Our son-in-law was working on a grant for work and had to connect via a hot spot on his phone and use several GBs of data from his personal plan just to send documents over email. The owner did reimburse us for this usage when we asked.

Basically, the website needs to be updated to be more honest about the shape of the home and the amenities that are offered. We would not have stayed in this home if they were or if we had seen the review of the guests the week before us. While the owner was very responsive to our needs, it should not have been necessary in the first place.

Spacious property but not as described.

  • 2 of 5

Pros- for a big group this home has a lot of room. The garage has been converted into three rooms/ 2 bedrooms. Bunk room extremely spacious, and a pass through room with futon with an additional bedroom through there. Full bath in this area also. The upstairs is 3 bedrooms.

Cons- I base my rental always on reviews. I must say none of them raised a red flag to me when I was deciding. This home is 10 min from the airport. It is a 15.00 uber/lift ride downtown DURING THE DAY. To get home at night it is a 50-60.00 ride back. Keep this is mind for you budget. Potentially it can run you well over 100.00 a day depending on how many people in your party.

The property is very run down. It seems as though they are fixing it up as they rent it. The pool was not open in May. If you are renting this home for the pool I would ask prior to booking. Not sure if its ever open. The area around the pool is in dire need of renovation. The deck was just replaced leading to back door. There was bar that you can see in the pic but no chairs. We had to stand and overlook a weeded pool area with the fence ready to fall down. The cabana was up, but with the pool not open not sure why you would want to sit down there.

Bedding- First night master bedroom box spring broke when we sat on it to take shoes off. It was a mattress and no box spring, it also had a homemade frame which I can best describe as willow strips running across that simply broke. I called for repair. They came the next morning, ( they said to put mattress on ground for the night to sleep) Instead of bringing a bed frame, duct tape was used to repair. It broke almost imm. again. Bed frames are not that expensive. (79.00)?

Rest of bedding was old, bathrooms needed updating etc. Flooring was replaced in main living area, but carpet needed to be cleaned elsewhere.

Internet- non existent. I actually asked prior to booking if they had wifi for I had to work part of time I was there. Non of us were able to get on. Not even our phones for Facebook. Rebooted several times and gave up. Went to local coffee shop.

Kitchen was updated, good enough for what we needed for trip/ coffee breakfast etc. Tables and chairs were split in living area. Homemade tables although interesting made of pallets maybe? and shellacked seemed non-sterile.

There is a lake a mile down the road with a nice bar and rest/ patio outside area and boat rental.

Owner's Response: I'm am sorry that you were disappointed in your stay, and we truly desire to create a space that is comfortable to our guests. I do feel that you made some unfair statements and based your rating on some things that are not in our control. First, we do not control Uber prices. Prices spike late a night, especially on weekends, in every city. This is not our fault, nor do we try to mislead anyone related to this or anything else. Secondly, pools in TN almost universally open over Memorial Day weekend and close over Labor Day weekend. This is the swimming season in this area. Our listing clearly states that our pool is seasonal. We generally try to get a few extra weeks out of the pool (for our guests) by opening in mid-May and closing in mid-September, but your assumption that it would be open on the first of May, and the resulting disappointment, is also not our fault. To say that you're "not sure it's ever open" is an unfair accusation and it shows that you didn't carefully read the description where it states that it's seasonal. The house is definitely not "very run down;" it is a nice house, completely functional, with wear and tear that is very normal, given that it is often rented to large families with children, or large groups of young adults who are here to party. Some people do not treat the house like it's their own home, and this results in stains on carpet, etc.(our prices also reflect these imperfections, btw, if you check the going rates in Nash). Even though it's been cleaned, some stains remain. We plan to replace the carpet this year when we have a break in rentals (it's not something we can do when we have guests staying). We make every effort to keep up with repairs that are needed, such as replacing the deck, but it's ongoing. We have replaced the bed frame. Yes, they're not that expensive, but they're also not that easy to get on a dime (they're not carried in store in king size; I checked), so we did what we could to get you through. If the repair didn't hold during your stay, we wish you would have let us know. The bed was not homemade, either, it's from Ikea, and it just didn't hold up to rentals, so we fixed that once the problem was identified. The table is made of reclaimed barn wood, a popular style now, and the description states that it's made for 8, with 4 additional chairs at the table in the living room. The internet problem has been addressed, and would have been addressed during your stay had we known.

Nice sized home in a convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time! 12 of us decided to make the trek to Nashville to celebrate turning 40. The house was perfect size and everyone had a place to sleep. We used Lyft to get around town and it was a quick ride to town. Renter was easy to work with and very accommodating. Time of year did not allow us to use the pool, but we had a blast anyway!!

Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the airport, this property is close to all of the action of downtown Nashville, but far enough from the hustle and bustle so you can relax when you choose to. J. Percy Priest Lake is less than a half-mile away, and it's big and beautiful. Take a stroll to the nearby Shipwreck Cove waterfront restaurant for happy hour and a beautiful sunset. Cross the Dam to Nashville Shores, which is a huge and exciting water park right on the lake. Drive a very short distance and explore the amazing and world-famous Opryland Hotel before visiting the Grand Ole Opry (they're on the same property). Shop 'til you drop at the expansive Opry Mills outlet mall, nearby. Explore historic, and now very hip, East Nashville, where artists, musicians, craft beer, and organic farm-to-table food abound. There is so much to do between this property and the downtown honky-tonk district, it would be hard to find a more convenient location. The best part is that you can escape it all when you (or your kids) need to, and you can let the kids run around in green grass or grab that nap that makes everything easier, while you chill by your private pool all afternoon and recharge.
