Vico Equense is a bustling, charming town! Loved it! The apartment was cozy and convenient to all things. Well appointed and had everything you could possibly need. It is exactly as depicted. The balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples was our favorite spot. Great restaurants in town as well as shopping. A 5 minute walk to the Circumvisuviana train which takes you everywhere you'll want to go. Would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The view from the balcony was amazing. The apartment was stylish and well equipped. It was in a nice quiet area just a short walk from the station and the shops. Vic Equense was a lovely town with great transport links, lovely bakeries and was still unspoilt by tourism.
Everything very nice!!
Vico Equense is the front door of the Sorrento Peninsula. A vast and varied territory that includes sea and mountain views from the wide beaches that have often been awarded the coveted "Blue Flag" reaches over 1100 meters of Mount Faito.
Vico Equense is born from the ancient Aequa, hence the present name, on a tuff block that covers a long stretch of coastline.
A little 'history
The first archaeological evidence of a settlement dating back to the seventh century. C. Have in fact been recovered numerous artifacts from the pre-Roman necropolis which stood near the city center.
Later the area of Vico Equense became the residence of the Roman patricians, as attested by the ruins of the Marine Aequa and Vico. In 533 it was destroyed by the Goths, and renamed Vicus Aequanensis. During the long wars between the French and Spanish for supremacy in the Kingdom of Naples, Vico Equense was always linked to the early and sustained sieges of Aragon in 1441 and 1461.
What to see
In addition to the Mineralogical Museum Campano and the Antiquarian, Vico Equense boasts two other important museums: the artistic religious of the Convent of San Vito and the nature of CITES Pacognano at Clear Living Salesian.
The historic home more culturally relevant is The Castle Giusso. The building was built by the feudal lord Sparano of Bari between the years 1284-89. It was later expanded in the Renaissance. The castle was then restored by Girolamo Giusso, from which it took its name. This period was also built overlooking the sea Cathedral of the Assumption, the only example of the Gothic cathedral of the Sorrento peninsula. The building commemorates the visit of the famous jurist and philosopher Gaetano Filangieri.
From 1935 to 1973 it was the seat of the Society of Jesus.
Since then it is a private condominium visited only at conferences and wedding celebrations hosted in its halls.
Interesting to visit are the churches of the old town, such as the Church and former convent of SS. Trinity and Paradise, Church of SS. Annunziata (XIV century), the church of St. Maria of the Castle from where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes of Positano, the Caporivo tower in Marina d'Aequa and the remains of the ancient water mills built around 1640 and fed by 'water of Sperlonga source conveyed in the Castle.
Where to eat
For gourmets: spoiled for choice. They are renowned dairy products (Provolone del Monaco), the typical sweets, and you can taste typical dishes of the culinary tradition that combine the flavors of the sea with those of the countryside, as well as the famous "Pizza by the meter." Of great value restaurant "Torre del Saracino" Master Chef Gennaro Esposito.
Mount Faito, easily accessible by car or in eight minutes with the cable car from Castellammare di Stabia (click here for the timetable), offers beautiful forests of beech and pine trees in which to walk.
