After many years of visiting Truth or Consequences, enjoying the people, the place and the baths, we decided to buy our lovely two bedroom retreat. Now we want to share it with you!
Genevieve and Paul Mitchell purchased this house in 2007
This home is light, airy, comfortable and close to the hot springs and downtown Truth or Consequences. It's perfect for the business traveler, fun vacation or quiet retreat.
Quiet, comfortable, roomy, clean and close to the hot tubs!
This home is in a nice location, very clean and just so cute. We're from the Midwest and I have always loved stucco and it's rather rare in our area. The home is bright and welcoming all day. The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we would need. It was a nice base for a couple day trips too. Recommend Chloride, Ft Craig and Bosque del Apache national wildlife refuge if you have time and are looking for something outside of T or C
Using VRBO was easy, fast, and streamlined. Once I found the property, I was able to secure it within minutes. The owners were responsive to any requests and their home was a perfect place for our family to rest.
I havent gone through the last part of getting our deposit back, but I don't anticipate any issues.
Thank you for letting us use your home. We hope to stay there next year.
The. property is absolutely lovely, warm and comfortable. Genevieve and Paul have created a wonderful place in the heart of Truth or Consequences. The downtown hot springs and business district is walkable, and the view SE toward the Caballo Mountains at sunset gives you a sense of the great New Mexico light. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.
My husband, our two small dogs and I stayed in Genevieve and Paul's lovely home as one of the first stops on a two month exploration of the Southwest. The house is spacious yet cozy and very well equipped to support a wonderful experience in Truth or Consequences. The fenced in yard provided a place for our dogs to be outside when they were not otherwise walking with us around town or on one of the numerous hikes we took to explore the local area (Elephant Butte State Park, Percha Dam and anywhere along the Rio Grand are highly recommended.) The house is very well furnished, kitchen is well equipped for making meals and the bed (we used the queen) is very comfortable. We enjoyed evenings in the spacious living room reading (nice collection of books). Note that their are goat-stickers in the yard and for some reason more here than in other spots around town. The owners thoughtfully alerted us to these with respect to dogs, but they turned out to not really be such a problem. The dogs learned to walk on walkways and even to find the places that were most stick-free to explore. Best restaurants we found were The Brazen Fox (wonderfully fresh Mexican style food) and Latitude 33 (especially for lunch when they have various specials); hot springs on recommendation of owners that we tried were RiverBend (beautiful views from tubs as it is right on the river), and La Paloma (seems to be a lot more T or C type experience). Best hike close to town is as you head towards the Elephant Butte Dam, just after you cross bridge over Rio Grande (second bridge on this road) there is a dirt road and you turn right. It bends back along river for a while and then heads up towards hills. After a mile or so you come to a very broad arroyo where you can either park, or if it is dry like it was when we were there, turn left and drive up it for a bit or as far as you feel comfortable in the car. The arroyo bends to the left and eventually becomes a narrower and beautiful canyon with small pools of water and lots of rocks to clamber over. Suggested by a local and was one of our best hikes. Truth or Consequences is a quirky little town and just what we were seeking in our westward journey...many longtime locals integrated with what seems to be a growing number of newcomers seeking place to do art, healing and maybe just enjoy the climate and beautiful local scenery.
This house is lovely, quiet, clean, well stocked with everything you could need and very comfortable. It's right in the middle of town, close to everything including the hot springs (we went to Riverbend). I highly recommend this rental for your T or C visit - it is just as great as the pictures, if not, better!
