Large Victorian fully furnished first-floor flat available for weekly or monthly rental. The house is directly across the street from Smith College, and literally steps away from the site of Graduation. We're a short walk to the great restaurants and stores of downtown Northampton. The flat includes a large bedroom, two large living areas, kitchen, bath, and laundry, and has a private entrance. We have a Knabe console piano that loves to be played. And there is a secluded little garden in the back with a small deck and gas grill. The house is on a quiet, friendly street and is comfortably and tastefully furnished. Northampton is in a great area to bike and we have bicycles you can use. Free parking is provided.
The flat is suitable for one person or a couple. No pets or smoking.
I live in Northampton, Massachusetts, a lively and friendly college town in the western part of the state (not Boston!). I am married and love to travel to cities to explore neighborhoods, architecture and local cultures. What I most love about living in Northampton (and I say this as someone who lived in the Bay Area for 20 years) is how much this great little New England city has to offer. Our house is directly across the street from Smith College, which itself has amazing things going on all the time - music, drama and dance performances, art exhibits, lectures, beautiful walking paths and gardens. My husband and I believe in walkable and bikeable communities, with vibrant downtowns. Our house gives us and our guests exactly that. We can walk or bike to almost everything we need. We are also a 5 minute walk to the bus to Amherst, another lively college community. I love to meet new people and am fascinated by other cultures.
I'm a foodie in every way - I love to cook, eat, grow food on the little plot at the side of the house, go out to restaurants and support our local farmers at our year-round farmers' markets. I also am a violinist (love playing Beethoven quartets), am a no-mercy Scrabble player and an avid reader and walker.
Mari and Joel's flat is a treasure. It's spacious, bright, quiet, and beautifully decorated. The large kitchen is furnished with good appliances, generous shelf space, and a handy breakfast table. When I needed to serve lunch to a few guests, Mari brought down a colorful tablecloth to fit the work table in the dining room/parlor. We appreciated the large armchairs in the living room, the spacious closet in the bedroom, and the excellent mattress on the king bed. I liked having our own washer/dryer, as well as a separate thermostat that enabled us to control the heating in the flat. The handsome. in-tune piano in the living room was a great bonus. When I was sure Mari and Joel would not be disturbed, I was able to practice! We had lovely walks across the Smith campus, around the neighborhood, and down into town. It was a memorable two-weeks in which I got a lot of work done. Superb!
This is the second time we have stayed at this property. The location couldn't be better for visiting Smith campus -- it is right across the street from the Quad and blocks from Admissions and the Campus Center.
Mari is an attentive host who provides breakfast and tea and accommodates dietary preferences. The bed is comfortable and warm. It is set up well to have one person go to bed and other stay up later socializing or reading. We hope to keep staying there as long as our daughter is at Smith.
I just stayed at this apartment last week. It was perfect. Very clean, super location, especially if you are visiting someone at Smith College. Mari, the owner is super nice, helpful, and a gracious owner. It was like staying at a good friend's house!! She provides a parking pass and even purchases a few groceries for breakfast! I've stayed in many VRBOs, and this one is the best, hands-down. Very comfortable, and cool even in warm weather. i will be staying here again over the next three years, that's for sure!
