About the property

Larger than it looks. Brimming with charisma & walking distance to all the fun!

This bright little cottage is a bit of the Caribbean hidden away in the heart of the Marigny--which puts it pretty much close to everything. The bustling, up-and-coming St Claude Avenue is one and a half blocks away. The Avenue is alive with funky dive bars, art galleries, junk and thrift shops, and even theatres. Coffee shops are all around! In our opinion, the city’s coolest courtyard is Feelings Cafe D’aunoy--just 3 blocks toward the river.

The entire rest of the Crescent City is easily at hand. We are 10 walkable blocks from the French Quarter.

Mardi Gras? The Season begins just 3 blocks from here with the irreverent Krewe de Vieux and ends in the same spot with the Ste. Anne Walking Parade--where EVERYONE is in the Krewe and the bar is set sky high for costuming!

Jazz Fest? French Quarter Fest? Chaz Fest? Oyster Fest? VooDoo Fest? It seems that we have parades, 2nd lines and festivals one after the other in close formation. Or maybe you’re here for a convention. There are oodles of them here every year. The CBD is just minutes away by cab or Uber.

Restaurants abound. From funky/trendy to 4 star: running the gamut from run-down-your-arm juicy poboys, thick gumbos and firey crawfish boils to the finest dining at Commanders and Bayona: from Baccanal at the far-end-elbow of the Bywater to Maurapas or The Three Muses on Frenchman Street. But even in this lush landscape, it’s sometimes just right to eat at “home”. You’ll have a spacious, fully equipped kitchen here to rustle up a home-made meal. With the Food Co-op just a block away, you can conveniently “make groceries” for whatever inspires you.

We’ll have information on all the above including plantations and swamp tours and everything in between available when you arrive.

You’ll just enter through the security gate with coded entry, walk down the lighted drive to find your cottage and deck in the back corner of our good-sized back

yard. The entire colorful house is yours. With 800 cozy square feet, you’ll have one bedroom and one bath with a large kitchen/eating area, living room, front porch plus a deck for morning coffee or that last cocktail before you call it a day. This out-of-sight hideaway can be just the reprieve you need from the abundant action of the Crescent City.

Parking is on the street and rarely an issue. If you don’t feel like walking (which is a great choice), bicycles can be rented in several places nearby (a great way to get around the city) with a bike tour enterprise located just across the street! Buses are found on St Claude and cabs or Uber are a call or app away.

The large back yard is shared with us. We live on site in the historic front house. We have a workshop across the space from you and we have two dogs who will keep us company. They do not come into the cottage and they are never outside without us. Chances are that you will meet them! If you’re not a “dog person” another spot would probably be a better fit for you. The entire outside area is well kept and, depending on the time of year, filled with foliage and greenery.

A laundry shed is located behind our house and we are happy to share it with you.

Smoking on the deck and the covered patio is acceptable.

Your hosts are two sisters. Stephanie has an extensive and creative background in antiques and furniture refinishing while Marna has been busy for years rehabbing as much of the historic architecture in New Orleans as she can manage. While we’ll give you your space and privacy, we ARE on hand with hopefully helpful information--or help--if needed.

Easy Stay in the Big Easy

  • 5 of 5

This small bungalow is walking distance to the French Quarter. My wife and I stayed for a week and enjoyed every hour. We enjoyed the privacy given to us by Marna and Stephanie. They were great hostesses. The bed was super comfortable, and the kitchen was nice and spacious. We would highly recommend this venue to all who spend time in New Orleans!!

Owner's Response: Your Title is great! (I might have to steal it). Your review is highly appreciated. The privacy of the Cottage AND it's location are real pluses for us--and we are so lucky to have both. I know what you mean about the bed! Having tested it myself, I have to say that I agree. Thanks for your generosity and for taking the time to respond. We hope to see you again. Marna and Stephanie

Comfortable. Quiet. Close.

  • 5 of 5

This was our third trip to New Orleans and decided not to behave entirely like tourists. We chose this place because of its proximity to restaurants, bars, and entertainment but also away from the artificial feel of hotels. Our hosts put much thought into this place from comforters on the sofa to potato chips and chocolate in the kitchen to soft linens to comfortable furniture. If you are looking for luxury this will probably not be a good fit for you. If you are looking for homey and comfortable, enjoy.

This place is a GEM!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough great things about this place. The welcome treats were the perfect way to kick off our stay, and the location is priceless. As if Marna was not already the best host, she also willingly mailed back to us something of importance that was accidentally left behind. Can't wait to return!!

Perfect spot for 2!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is charming and perfectly located. 10 minute walk to Frenchmen St. You can Uber almost anywhere for $5-8. My wife and I went to the French Quarter, Saints game, casino, Frenchmen St. and downtown for minimal fare. 1 day we bought the Jazzy Pass. $3 per person all day. We loved taking the streetcars around and exploring the city.

Marna and Stephanie were the perfect hostesses. Very friendly. Their dogs (Beaux Diddly and Liza Jane) were great co hosts. The cottage is perfect for 2. Full kitchen, dining room, living room, and a bedroom with a VERY comfortable bed. We didn't use the kitchen for anything but breakfast. There are too many wonderful restaurants to visit in the area. The cottage is very quiet. Perfect atmosphere after a long day of exploring.

Owner's Response: What a thorough and eloquent review! Thanks for noting the convenient and affordable street car system is to the Cottage--and all the local eateries that are close by. Also, glad you mentioned the peace and quiet of our location--it sure is a plus. We can't wait to have you stay with us again!

Cozy, Charming Cottage that's perfect for exploring NOLA

  • 5 of 5

I really can't say enough great things about Marigny's Caribbean Cottage! My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary in NOLA and stayed here. It was convenient to great restaurants, a short 20 minute walk to the quarter, and so homey, there were times we would've been happy to hang out and enjoy the accommodations- I could go on and on. Marna and Stephanie were such sweet hosts (even though we never had the pleasure of meeting them). Highly recommended, we're already discussing when we can go back and stay at the Cottage again. We loved staying somewhere less touristy and experiencing the city more like locals. You will not be disappointed in this stay-- I hope you love it as much as we did! We can't wait to go back to our little hideaway!

Owner's Response: You two were SO busy--I wonder if that had something to do with us not bumping into each other??? You know that we love to hear our guests are having such a good time that they're planning to return even before they leave. Y'all were so sweet--thanks for the great words and come on back anytime!
