It is directly across the street from the intercoastal waterway, only 2 miles from the Barrier Island and beach, where a new causeway takes you to Sunset Beach Island and the beach. Once on the island, there is plenty of public parking and there are several access points to the right and left along the beach-front road. Sunset Beach features a fishing pier where, for a small fee, you can fish or enjoy the scenery. You can also enjoy bicycle riding to the rocky jetty at the end of the barrier island. If you don’t want to bring bicycles, they can be rented from the beach front store.

We are professionals living in the Raleigh, NC area. We love going to the beach and playing golf, and the Sunset Beach area is perfect for these pursuits.
Mike & Dawn Fulks purchased this condo in 2014
We were looking for a property that was close to the beach but not necessarily beach-front. We wanted some place that was quiet, where you can sit on the deck and enjoy the beautiful views. This condo and the Colony 1 property are perfectly situated - close to the beach and surrounded by golf courses. The property is well-maintained with a beautiful pool, tennis courts, and community grills for cooking out.
The condo is cozy and homey, giving you the sense that you are in your own home. It is a great base for trips to the beach for the day, or for a day on the links. It is close enough to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand to enjoy those activities, but away from the hustle and bustle.
Enjoyed our stay here. The condo is in a great location. We found everything to be as advertised. It was very quiet and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.
I rented the condo for a get away to enjoy time with my mother and three adult daughters. We had a very nice weekend in our rental. Would rent it again! Climbing stairs for a 3rd floor rental was a little hard for my mother; other than that it was a good stay.
I will start with several positives because not all was bad. The location in good. It was super close to my wife's family reunion. It's also close to restaurants and grocery shopping. And it was quiet. We did not hear anyone else in the complex during our stay. The biggest issue is that this unit seriously needs a "deep cleaning". The agreement I signed clearly stated "no pets". Yet, all three beds in the unit were covered with pet hair. We had to wash bedding and clothing to remove said animal hair. And you could tell that there had been (probably a dog) in the unit. We found washed bedding in the clothes drier that had not been put away. And bedding had a sweaty human smell. Since we didn't spend all that time there and didn't want to hassle with a move we stayed and put up with things. But I would seriously want to know that this place had been thorougly cleaned before I'd return. With that in mind, it could be a good option for a stay in this area.
There are so many things to like about this condo and staying here was a great experience. While I had to work a bit during my stay, the Wifi was up to the challenge. It has spacious rooms, great views of the driving range, and it's cathedral ceiling is a huge plus. It's about 5 minutes to Sunset Beach and right the down the road from Calabash. The A/C did its job in the summer heat. Owner was great to work with. I cannot imagine a better value. Will definitely consider staying here in the future.
On a family trip to the US, we found ourselves with a few days in North Carolina. We could not have made a better choice of apartment for a little R&R. The balcony overlooks a driving range which was only used for a very short time each day and is also close to a pond with a couple of resident alligators, which we were privileged to see (though not too close!) The apartment was clean and well cared-for and has everything we needed and more for a few days and was just a short drive from the beach itself, which is much better at sunrise than sunset in August. The pool on the complex was a couple of minutes walk away from the door and parts of it were in shade for much of the day, making I more usable for anyone from more northerly climates. The only difficulty we had was finding the apartment as our flight was delayed so we arrived in the dark and there was no sign at the entrance from the road. However, we found it and also managed to locate the supermarket the following day, which was not obvious on the maps to visitors from Europe! Thoroughly recommend the apartment for anyone seeking a relaxing break.
Stayed for 3 nights as part of a road trip around USA. It was lovely and light with loads of room for four adults to share. We made full use of the swimming pool and sitting on the balcony, to watch the golfers in action, on the driving range. Having beach/pool towels available to use was an added bonus and had the weather been better we would have used the beach chairs too! The resort was peaceful and nice to have a walk around. The bedrooms were very spacious, both with terrace access. The bedroom nearest to the main door however had beds which were slightly too short for myself and partner and the sheets were very hot! The shower in this room also had a leak from the bath/shower switch. You could do with adding a corkscrew too! Overall, we had a fantastic stay here and would have loved to stay for longer.
