My Wife and I (Derrick and Roxanne) along with my brother and his wife (Travis and Sage) decided to embark on an adventure and build our oceanfront dream house. It was completed in 2014 on the beautiful low country island of Harbor in South Carolina. We purposefully built our home with guest's creature comforts in mind. We wanted it to feel like you are sitting at home on your comfortable sofa while you're watching the waves crawl upon the shore just outside your back porch. We love to spend as much time as we can there (living in Georgia we are only a short drive away) and we know you will love it too. We try to make sure that when you step into our house, you feel like you are home. We respond quickly to any issue you may have and we live by the motto 'do the right thing all the time.' Welcome to our home , the Hampton's.
Derrick Hampton purchased this house in 2014
Building this home has been a dream of my family and my brother's family. Completed in 2014, it is built with the strictest of codes, designed to handle mother nature and keep you comfortable. My brother and I have always loved South Carolina. Being from Georgia, we would take trips annually to our neighboring state and enjoy her beauty and hospitality, food and golf. We are so excited to be counted among her community and even more excited to share it with others. We know you will love the 'Low Country' as much as we do. Come stay at our new home.... The Hampton House.
Our home offers the ocean up close and personal. Just steps out the back door onto your private boardwalk, brings you to one of South Carolina's most serene and untouched beaches. Dolphins make their morning and evening swim just outside of your porch. Shrimp boats ply their trade every morning just after sunrise. Harbor Island itself is recognized by the Audubon Society with it's teaming birdlife. Logger Head turtles nest on the shores every year. Truly an amazing island. This is why we built here and this is why our house is the perfect place to bring your family for a lifetime of memories. The first time you have your morning coffee on the screened in back porch while watching the dolphins chase the shrimp boats, you will be as hooked as we are. The views from the living room are only matched by the one's from one of two master bedrooms, both downstairs and upstairs (the upstairs boasting a private balcony with breathtaking vistas). Beaufort, only 10 miles down the road, is the second oldest city in South Carolina and is the very embodiment of a 'Low Country' coastal town. It is so beautiful, many movies were filmed here including 'Forest Gump' and 'The Big Chill'. If you love golf as much as we do, you will love the many golf course within a few minutes drive. Our house was built to allow not only us to enjoy all the low country has to offer, but you as well. You are welcome here at The Hampton House.
We enjoyed the Hampton House. I stayed there with my family over labor day weekend and it was just perfect for us (six adults and 3 kids). The house is beautiful and spacious, and we especially appreciated the large screened porch - we ate almost every meal there!
Had a great time in your lovely house. enough room for everybody. a storm blew through nite before we got there and tore the screens on the porch but they were fixed asap. I would recommend that there be a gate for stairs though our 1 year old granddaughter kept trying to get up them. Also maybe once a year power wash back deck it had a lot of bees nest on the deck, and the floor was really dirty our baby crawled and was filthy. Realize its on the beach and the wind and sand etc. but possibly keep them away for awhile until they build new ones. lol. we arrived four or five days after the house was sprayed. but there were still those roach like bugs every day. we kept the bug spray handy. didn't hurt you but were still creepy. Had a great time on the beach and the pool when tide was in. saw the turtle nests, turtles, and alligators. The kids had a great time catching all the crabs. and the weather was great.
House had everything you need to have a great time with the family. Location was great low key area. Good food near by. Fishing great. Hope to return.
We arrived just in time for Tropical Storm Colin to drive us inside. Thankfully, the house is as nice as the pictures look, with a great layout and plenty of family games to play! Once the storm passed, we were able to move back outside. We loved the fact that the beach was not heavily populated. Since it is in the Harbor and there is not much wave activity, we moved our beach activities down the road to the state park with our complimentary pass. We also got in some pier fishing at the park, plenty of pool time, and a lot of alligator "hunts".
Two things kept this home from being a five star stay for us: the lack of waves and the kitchen equipment. The wave level was definitely our oversight and the state park pass saved the day, but with 4 active boys the reason we rent oceanfront is for the convenience of not having to drive to the beach. It would've been perfect when the kids were little or if they wanted calm water to swim in. The kitchen equipment was adequate, but not great--the knives were dull, there were just two cheap plastic mixing dishes, no serving dishes, no spatula, the dishes have dwindled down to less than a full set--minor things generally but we like to cook and the little things added up for us.
We had an amazing time at the Hampton house! The house itself is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The multiple decks allow for viewing of the water at all times (and it was fun watching the dolphins) and the kayak's were great for adventures in the water. The privacy of the house is wonderful, with direct beach access. We cannot wait to go back to the Hampton house!
had an amazing vacation with family in this gorgeous house. Best views, beach and atmosphere!! A trip we will cherish and talk about for years!
