Overview

About the property

Knotty Pine Interior, Private River Access With Floating Dock & Mountain Views

The 'Eagles Nest River Cabin' towers over a beautiful stretch of the Shenandoah River where the water meanders and swirls over a long stretch of underwater ledges and rocks. The 75' span of private river frontage offers steps and a floating dock for easy access to the river for swimming, wading, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, or just lounging in a chair. The fishing is the best around as the river offers a healthy population of small and large mouth bass. Waterfowl and other birds are abundant (over 50 species documented) and bald eagles are occasionally spotted. There is a public landing and parking at the bridge just up river providing for float trip opportunities down to the property. 2 canoes included at nominal fee for entire visit so that you can either canoe the Shenandoah River or just stretch back in a tube and float your day away.

Sleeping 8 to 10, this newly built cabin is beautiful inside and out representing the quintessential vacation cabin with white knotty pine interior, vaulted ceiling, 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts, a fully equipped kitchen and a huge front porch that overlooks the entire stretch of river. At the base of the steps of the cabin is a charcoal grill, table and chairs for easy outdoor grilling and dining. The spacious side and front yards offer plenty of room for group games such as volleyball, croquet, corn hole and horse shoes. The back of cabin is in view of the historic Norfolk Southern railroad. The freight trains rumble by the cabin without whistle approximately 3 to 5 times per day.

Centrally located just 15 miles from Massanutten Ski & Indoor/Outdoor Water Park Resort and historic Luray featuring Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination. The Shenandoah National Park is also internationally acclaimed featuring breathtaking views from the Skyline Drive (Swift Run Gap access point only 17 miles) and various distance trail hikes to waterfalls and other natural attractions.

We hope that you will decide to come visit and firsthand experience all that the Shenandoah Valley Region has to offer and while lodging with us at the Eagles Nest River Cabin. Fun is Waiting! Wonderful spot by the river

  • 5 of 5

We rented Eagle's Nest as one of three cabins on a family reunion, and it was a great choice. Next to the cabin, there is lots of flat lawn space for playing horseshoes (provided) or throwing a frisbee; under the cabin there is a very nice area with tables and comfortable chairs that's great for lunch or board games; and across the road there is another river-side lawn with a hammock, fire pit, and water access. The rental comes with access to two canoes, a couple of bikes, and half a dozen tubes for floating down the river, which we made plenty of use of. The cabin itself is pretty cozy (one bathroom and you can't quite stand up in the lofts), but nicely arranged; it recently got internet access, and the owner is still working out some kinks in getting it to work well. All in all, we had a great time at Eagle's Nest, and some extended-family members were even talking of renting it again for their own vacations.

Great Cabin, Excellent River Location

  • 5 of 5

This is the 4th year in a row my college buddies and I have booked this cabin for a summer weekend. Great accommodations and excellent fishing from the Shenandoah dam to the cabin (8.5 mile float). Already looking forward to next year's trip!

Great cabin for 6-8 people

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was absolutely perfect for the group of 8 guys I went camping with. Water access is fantastic and there are multiple place up river to launch tubes from. The cabin was in great shape, two fire pits and everything you need to cook is in the cabin. The owner was fantastic to work with and stopped by to throw some cornhole as well. We will be going back next year.

Jewel on the Shenandoah

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Eagle's Nest while celebrating our daughter's graduation from JMU. The beautiful cabin was a great place to gather and enjoy the events of the day. The front porch was so peaceful; you can hear the river flowing over the rocks just across the street.

The owner was very responsive to all my questions. The cabin is very clean and well maintained. I was appreciative of the hospitality extended through the thoughtful card and gift noting our milestone celebration as well as the fire pit set with wood. My only regret was we did not have a chance to canoe. Can't wait to go back!
