Paddock cottage, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeping up to 5
This stunning cottage is situated in a unique location, offering private access to the 80 acres of the estate of Plas Glyn-y-Weddw (Woodland & Grassed areas). The estate nestles in an idyllic corner of Llanbedrog extending down to the beach. Paddock cottage itself, is a beautiful 300 metre stroll down to the beach (past a popular beach bistro). The cottage is something special to view making it an ideal retreat for any time of the year. The origins of the name lie in the fact that the property was the original stables on the estate, and has been converted into cosy accommodation whilst retaining many original features. The cottage & its location will provide lasting memories of a special holiday. The National Trust own the beach, which is never too crowded even in the summer months.
Beach Life: The Beach at Llanbedrog has a cafe / bistro on, and is often seen in photographs and portraits of the Llyn. The sea gently slopes into the sea, and provides a safe environment for a family. At the entrance to the beech is a small stream running down to the sea that provides hours of entertainment.
Activity: The Llyn is packed with activities to suit all tastes from ramblers & families and is a great spot to take a break. The location of this property means that you will rarely need the car for the whole break, with everything truly on your doorstep.

Comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting
This cottage is now one of a group of bungalows built in the grounds of an estate. It is very near the dog friendly beach and the headland. Really peaceful break, thanks.
Lovely cosy, characterful cottage, in a superb setting
We have just returned from one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever been on!
Paddock Cottage is every bit as wonderful as all of the other reviews I read. It is well equipped, cosy and full of character. It is set in the most idyllic spot, looking out over a paddock to an ancient woodland, and is just moments from a dog friendly, shell-lined beach.
The information from Dave, both prior to our stay, and on the day, was first rate, and he accommodated all our needs.
Don’t go to Llanbedrog if you want lots of cafes, bars and shops (although the Aqua bar, right on the beach is great, as is the local pub, the Glyn y Weddow Arms), but do go if you have a dog, and are looking for fresh air, tranquillity, and a great base for travelling in the area.
We booked our stay in the first week of May, which was the most beautiful time of year in this lovely area. Many of the beaches we visited were deserted, and we had no trouble parking anywhere.
One other little tip, the Plas Glyn y Weddow, the art gallery a stone’s throw from the cottage, is a great place to buy any souvenirs you might want. I bought some glass pieces, which were half the price of what they were in a gallery in Pwllheli, and the slate jewellery was much cheaper than it was at Inigo Jones’s slate works on the A487.
Go and enjoy. We will certainly go again.
Great location to visit north wales
Great location on private estate within walking distance of pub shop and bistro on the beach
Fantastic week at Dave’s cottage in February highly recommended beautifull location had the place too ourselves
A Gem in Llanbedrog
We had a great week at Paddock Cottage. The location is brilliant, a quiet enclave just a couple of minutes walk to a great beach. There is a beach bar/restaurant on the way to the beach that has stunning views. The local pub and shop are 5 minutes in the other direction. Abersoch is a 10 minute drive. We spent time walking on the beach and exploring the Llyn Peninsula. Aberdaeron was a particular favourite and we also enjoyed Morfa Nefyn. Lots of good places to eat and drink, but we especially liked the Kin cafe in Abersoch and the bakery in Aberdaeron. The cafe over at Morfa Nefyn is also very good. We also found the local brewery at Nefyn that produces some exceptional beers.
The house itself is very comfortable with a nice garden. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, crockery and cutlery. Communication with Dave Thornton was good and he was there to greet us and show us around. This is a lovely place to spend time in a beautiful and fascinating area.
Beautiful homely cottage in a great location, this is the second time we've stayed which should be recommendation enough! Everything you need for a relaxed family holiday is right on your doorstep.
On a recent edition of BBC's countryfile (Aug 2006), the cottage & idyllic setting formed the backdrop to John Craven's intro to the Llyn episode. Ideal location 300 metres to the sea, 100 metres to café, 300 metres to the bistro, 800 metres to pub & shop, everything is close to hand. Tucked away on the Llyn Peninsula, Llanbedrog offers the ideal base for a family or activity based break. Llanbedrog offers an ideal base in a picturesque setting and is close to the popular village of Abersoch with its trendy shops & watersports. The cottage itself is situated within the grounds of the Plas Glyn-y-Weddw estate, with its art gallery and café. It is especially renowned for its sheltered sandy beach (the most sheltered in North Wales) nestling under a steep rocky headland covered with picturesque heather and fringed by pine trees. The breathtaking beauty of the approach road has probably been painted and photographed more often than any area in this peninsula of unforgettable scenery
Other Activities: Mountain boarding, Hovercrafts, go-karts, quad-biking, steam railways
