Charming 1-bedroom apartment (formerly part of palace) located in historic centre & featuring high ceilings & exposed stonework/beams. Enjoy your coffee or wine, whilst watching passers-by unnoticed in the 2 bright maltese balconies! Perfect location
This lovely recently renovated fully independent one-bedroomed apartment probably formed part of a palace built around 300 years ago by the knights of malta.
Designed with style, the apartment has been carefully restored and is decorated with art pieces bought by the owners during their travels.
This charming home set on the first floor (no lift) features very high ceilings with exposed stonework and beams and is embellished with two delightful and bright maltese balconies (private closed balconies) where you can read the papers in natural light or enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine, whilst watching passers-by unnoticed.
The apartment has a kitchen-living-dining room, a separate double bedroom and an independent bathroom with shower. In the living room, there is also a double sofa bed (more suitable for children) which means that the apartment may accommodate 2 additional guests. On request, a baby cot may be provided.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, electric hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, electric kettle, pots, pans and kitchen utensils. The apartment has satellite tv, wi-fi, a dvd player, a washing machine, air conditioning, fans and a heater.
Clean linen and towels will be provided.
On request, we may provide you with beach towels at no extra charge.
This is one of the best neighbourhoods in valletta. It is very quiet, charming and photogenic. Scenes for films such as 'munich' (spielberg) and 'a different loyalty' (starring rupert everett and sharon stone) have been shot here. The quaint narrow streets, charming stepped streets and impressive bastions make this neighbourhood magical.
You're in one of the most picturesque and historical streets of valletta and on foot you're:
- 1 min away from the superb view of the grand harbour from st. Barbara's bastions and the upper barrakka gardens;
- 2 mins away from the main shopping street and the unique st. John's co-cathedral;
- 3 mins away from renzo piano's city gate project and open air theatre (old opera house site);
- 5 mins away from malta's central bus terminus;
- 10 mins away from valletta's rocky beaches;
- 10 mins away from the sea-taxis to the three cities and the ferry to sliema.
Since you're in the historical centre of this 'city built by gentlemen for gentlemen', you are surrounded by restaurants, cafés, bars, wine bars, museums, theaters, historical palaces and monuments, auberges, churches, forts, etc.
Walking around valletta, which is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world, you'll notice something interesting at every corner, be it the maltese balconies, statues, niches, coat of arms, inscriptions, fountains, red british telephone boxes or vintage shop signs. Valletta (a unesco world heritage city) is truly an open-air museum.
Malta boasts a diverse repertoire of exhibitions, festivals and feasts. Most of these events take place in valletta (or la valette,) a magnificent fortress city built by the knights of malta and named after the respected grand master of the order of st. John, jean parisot de la valette. Events taking place in valletta (citta' umilissima) include the valletta baroque festival, notte bianca, malta jazz festival, bridge bar jazz sessions, valletta international visual arts festival, valletta international piano festival, malta fireworks festival, malta arts festival, science in the city, middle sea race, various wine festivals, various 'festas' (honouring the parish patron saint) and carnival. The atmosphere is also special during christmas and easter time.
The apartment is 5 mins away from malta's central bus terminus. From there you can visit every corner of the island by bus.
I loved this gorgeous little place, my partner found it a bit too small, and as many people have commented the kitchen is teeny. Who cares when a minute away there are so many places to get coffee, bars and heaps of restaurants. Rita who let us in was a hoot and told us about some cool local places to eat/visit, which we did. Beautiful apartment in a beautiful city.
This was a great base camp for exploring Valletta and eastern Malta. The apartment is just down the street from many restaurants, bars and stores, so there was always something to do. The kitchen is much smaller than it appears in the pictures, and like other people have mentioned it's not really possible to prepare much more than coffee. The door locks are finicky and the bed isn't very comfortable but overall we had a great time here. We didn't have any interaction with the host as we arrived late so we can't comment on that aspect.
It was a super location for our visit to Valletta
The apartment is clean and quiet
Wifi is fast enough
Rita the property manager is wonderful and very helpful
The stairs up to the apartment are a challenge for older people or over weight people
The kitchen area is very difficult for cooking anything other than toast and coffee
However, it is close to lots and lots of good restaurants.
For a young couple it would be perfect
The apartment is ideally located in a quiet street in Valletta.The apartment was as described in the listing and was very clean and well maintained.Maria and Rita,her assistant, were extremely helpful on all levels.
