Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Saint-Georges-d'Oléron

Perfect location in the heart of the island and of the main village but in a quiet street

Everything (traditionnal market, cinema, shops, bars, restaurants, baker, hospita, supermarket) is located within 5 minutes walking by nice streets

You have the choice between wild beaches in the oceanside and quieter ones in front of the continent

The equipment of the house is very good and appropriate for babies. The wooden terrace is perfect for summer with its BBQ and outside chairs and table.

"The house was great, beautifully and tastefully decorated, with all the equipment we could ever imagine that we might need. We really made use of the bicycles provided to explore the island. We also enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen and on the BBQ provided. Actually everything that you could ever imagine needing was there before you even had to think about it! We enjoyed staying in the capital of the island, especially since we visited out of season. The restaurants in the town were great, La Petit Bouchon was our favourite. We also really enjoyed shopping at the daily market and at a well stocked Carrefour which was within walking distance. In fact in two weeks we only used our car once!"

"What a fabulous house this really is! The decor is beautiful and funky and the house was very clean upon arrival. The whole layout of this house is lovely and very spacious with an additional downstairs toilet to boot! The house is just 3 minutes from the town centre and just round the corner from the covered market which is a must for your daily shopping of fresh produce for the BBQ! We visited a few of the places in Oleron and have to say that I think we chose wisely to stay here in the centre. So central and so much choice if you want to eat out in the evenings. We only ate out once as the markets are fab with so much choice and the people are very friendly and offer you a taste of anything you want before you buy. The outside are of the house is decked and has the sun from the about 9am to 5pm. What with the BBQ, and fresh choice of produce (mostly from Oleron) at the markets we stayed at home and relaxed alfresco in the evenings! We ate in La Zing (just round the corner) which was lovely with the fresh fish menu. Chaz had ink fish which was a delight and I had Duck - very tasty. We had lunch at various places - definately recomend La Contiere for lunch with their Bistro style cafes overlooking the port and the differnet types of Moules with Frites is amazing (stick to the first few cafes as you arrive as the futher round the port you go the more expensive the cafes are!). Eating out very much depends on where you go and what you want according to price - I had a huge salad with duck and goats cheese which cost 6 euros - not bad I thought. If you like your wine, go for the house Rose when eating out by the demi Carafe - about 4-5euros and delicious. Don't delay on the cycling... we didn't get into it until the 4th day on our holiday and wish we had started from day 1! The cycle paths are so well numbered, there is no chance of getting lost and they take you through some beautiful areas of the island and they are all flat! Take a picnic as there are lots of superb places for a rest - try Poulet Agogo in the centre of the (by the tourism office), they do the best spit roast chickens in a thermal bag and cut it up for you - delicious! We cannot fault the place and are so glad we decided to try Oleron. We hope to come back with friends next year as it is such a chilled out place. We speak very little French but got by with the help of a dictionary. This is where the French like to holiday so be prepared to attempt some French at the very least. The people are very relaxed about it though and this is what we liked about the island, as there were hardly any English - you will not see a sign for 'English Breakfasts sold here' - Thank goodness!"

très bon séjour

  • 4 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
