Overview

About the property

Stone farmhouse in the Rome countryside to visit the beautiful Sabina

Come and make our country house - nestled between Rome and Rieti - your home base during your stay in Italy.

It is a typical rural stone farmhouse situated in the heart of Sabina, not far from Rome, on the edge of woods of oak, Holm oak, hornbeam and oak and immersed in lush green olive groves, walnut trees and cherry trees, at a height of 600 m.

It is an independent House on two floors, completely and carefully renovated in accordance with local tradition. It can accommodate up to 6 people and consists of 5 rooms, including 3 lovely bedrooms, a fully equipped American kitchen with dining room, a spacious and comfortable living room with stone fireplace, 3 bathrooms (shower) and 2 porches; the house overlooks a tidy garden and a large outdoor area. Nice the views of the countryside and the suggestive Monte Terminillo.

In the House you will find peace and tranquillity, unspoiled natural and wild landscapes, to lead a kind of simple and rustic life, unusual and rewarding, to escape the stress of city life, restore the spirit and relive emotions of ancient flavor. You can live pleasantly the house and relaxing enjoying the "noises" and smells of nature, or jogging, walking, trekking in the paths of Monti Lucretili Regional Park, some of which lie just a few meters from Casale di Valle Numa, visiting Rome or the very interesting sites of the Sabina territory, which contains some real architectural "treasures" (Rock-Hewn Churches, abbeys, Franciscans and Benedictines monasteries, Roman villas, medieval villages) or enjoy gourmet itineraries (truffle, Lake fish, crayfish, local cooking and typical products), touring festivals, cultural and musical events in the area.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

"Valle Numa". In the full moon nights, when it reaches the zenith, the moon brightens the whole narrow valley that slopes toward the country with a series of "clearings" painted in different shades of green. A country road divides the upland hills of Sabina into two valley sides. Cherry, olive and walnuts trees are alternated sometimes in tidy way sometimes less. On the other side of the village, you can admire the summit, sometime times snow whitened, the Terminillo mountain. The noises are those of nature, it’s a polyphony; the range of notes is complete: the insects buzz around you, birds call each other from a hill to the other, you hear the various wildlife cries. Toward evening the village light up and make moving the night. More guttural sounds arrive , the woods became livelier and at the same time an hunting area; wild animals, normally surliness, during night set off each one with its own purpose, his trip. In addition to the village lights there are those of the fireflies. Numa Valley, the last bulwarks against pollution, against venom. The air is pure. At the beginning it is inebriant, you recognize its quality. Your senses are stressed all together and you enjoy living. You revive being in contact with these elements indispensable to us like the water.

About Paola

I love nature in all its aspects and in particular the place where the house is located. I personally work in the property to maintain it and to let it better each year. I get great satisfaction in the country works. I spend the major part of my free time in these activities.

Paola purchased this farmhouse in 2004

Why Paola chose Rieti Province

Sabina is less known compared to other Italian regions but is worth further consideration because it contains real ' treasures ' in terms of both touristic and naturalistic point of view. I rent the house for the pleasure of sharing the knowledge of the territory with those who, like me , want to spend the holidays away from the stress of the city life.

The house offers to the welcome guests the warmth and comfort of a private home surrounded by nature.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Unspoiled natural oasis ; peace and tranquility not far from Rome . Olive groves , woods , wild animals , sounds of nature , fireflies that blend into the firmament , flowering fruit trees . In this place every season has its charms . Beautiful view of the Terminillo Mountain . One step away from the lake of Turano , just 50 minutes drive from St. Peter's Square in Rome.

We have spent the BEST vacation during last 6 years! Thanks for very warm welcome, care and every day support to the owner (Paola) and to her great daughters. Lovely place, very nice house, completely equiped with everything what you just can imagine to be needed for comfortable rest.

Fresh and not too expencive food in the supermarkets not far from the house. Nice people around - even they are not understand english (often), they will find a way to help you.

Beautiful Turano lake with crystal turquoise water is in 20 minutes by car from the house.

"We spent three very enjoyable weeks here. The house is beautifully situated, spacious and well-appointed. It lies in a quiet and secluded spot in the Sabine Hills, an area little known to tourists, but with beautiful scenery and attractive villages. We can wholeheartedly recommend it.

There are four dogs who live outside and don''t need looking after. They are friendly enough and obviously enjoy human company, but they should be mentioned in the description."

Immer wieder gerne diese Haus ist einfach ein Schmuckkästchen

  • 5 of 5

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: Dear Victoria, we have been glad to have you as our guest. You are a family "perfect". The best guests ever. I appreciate your suggestion about the espresso coffee machine (like in the coffee bar). My daughter already promised it to me as Christmas gift, so next time it will be there. About the cats, as you know they were in vacation in the country and you accepted to stay with them. They do not live there, usually they live with me in Rome. To update you about them, we lost one of the two cats the week later (Camilla, the red one) so now we have only Romeo and it is no longer there because being an old domestic cat cannot stay into the wild for long time, too risky. Romeo say hallo to all of you, especially Yoann. I understood they had a special feeling. Sincerely Paola

Lovely lovely home

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful time in this beautifully appointed home with lush secluded surroundings. The house was exactly what we had imagined when looking for a country home with the rustic look but comfortable feel. The owners of the home were very gracious and we were very fortunate that they have opened their doors of this lovely home so that we could enjoy our Italian adventure. The home is only an hour away from the hectic city of Rome but it was enjoyable to return home to the quiet surroundings to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. A true gem! Thank you Paola🍷

Location

Car: necessary

Romantic place for a relaxing vacation. You can visit Rome and Sabina, sleeping in a house surrounded by nature rather than in the busy city. In the area there are several restaurants serving regional cuisine, nice private swimming pools, tennis courts, suggestive nature walk paths in the Monti Lucretili Regional Park; you can go fishing at the beautiful Turan Lake or at the close sport lakes or at the Piediluco lake, hunting is allowed only some months of the year; in the neighborhood there are festivals, food and wine events "sagre"and cultural activities; you can do trekking, mountain biking, horse riding, rafting at the Marmore waterfalls, skiing in winter on the slopes of the Terminillo Mountain, visit the medieval Sabina villages, the various Franciscan monasteries, the archaeological sites, Roman villas or enjoy the close village summer evenings with dancing, shows, concerts, theater and cabaret etc. Rome, Rieti and Terni are the nearest cities. Some interesting places to visit in Sabina: Rocca Sinibalda, Castel di Tora, Orvinio, Frasso Sabino, Farfa Abbey, Horace Villa and Orsini Nymphaeum, Licenza village with its Percile small lakes), Basilica of Santa Maria in Vescovio, Greccio, Cottanello and its surroundings, Labro and Piediluco Lake, Leonessa, Castelnuovo di Farfa, Vacone with Pago wood, Church of Santa Vittoria.
