About Dawn Lounsbury
John and Dawn have been enjoying the Cape for the past 20 years and have owned vacation rentals on the Cape for the past 14. We have lived full time on Cape San Blas for 2 years and manage our own properties and a few others. We raised our two sons in St Louis Mo. Our rentals are set up the same as our own home and we hope you will make them your home away from home.
Why Dawn Lounsbury chose Port St. Joe
Secluded with St. Joe Bay views and shallow water access. Relax on the screen porch in a comfy rocker.
What makes this House unique
Beach and Bay access. The bay is very shallow so a boat would need to be anchored very far out. Kayaks or paddle boards would be recommended. double kayak is available for an additional fee.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Great space, very well equipped.
Dawn was extremely responsive when we had questions.
Nice spot right between bay and gulf.
Perfect get away
A perfect beach cabin to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. It's secluded and that's what we were looking for. We enjoyed the fire pit out back. It was beautifully decorated and still smelled new.
The only con I would say that I felt like the I was a remote control for the owner. The AC was set on 72 and the thermostat was fixed to keep anyone from using it cooler than that. We got hot at night. And there was dog hair in places. We still enjoyed ourselves.
Clean and quiet with bay access
Initial impression was how clean it was on arrival when I opened the door. Still smells new! Privacy could be better, but was very adequate for this area and I’m usually not very forgiving in that regard. It was very quiet overall and no one bothered us in any way. There aren’t many blinds on the windows though so morning light will be your alarm clock and that’s not always something we wanted. Bay access with your own kayak and gear is good but not super easy because of the steps like Salinas Park. I’d prefer a path but not sure that’s possible with the mud but we had a great time in the bay each day regardless of where we launched from! The outside shower and concrete pad under the deck with a water hose are nice touches for cleaning up as are the washer and dryer. Screened deck was also nice to wake up to. Made the 10 minute walk to Scallop Republic one evening and enjoyed the sunset on the back deck, live music and a growler refill. We used beach access at Salinas Park but chose to park there vs walking. We generally prefer the State Park for the beach due to the solitude you can get if you hike down a ways but this was too close not to use and you could walk it if you travel light. We ate fresh scallops out of the bay within minutes of cleaning them (so good!) but there is also great food all around. Indian Pass Raw Bar is good and close but was too busy so we skipped it. Our favs were Jo Mammas in PSJ and the Owl in Apalach and as a bonus both have outside seating which we prefer. We also picked up to-go directly across the street at the Sand Bucket which was pretty decent and very convenient to just walk over after a long day on the water. Overall, the good reviews of this cottage and all it offers are justified and I will stay here again if I have the chance.
Quiet and relaxing
My stay was clean, quiet, and peaceful and Dawn was very helpful. It was also close to everything I wanted to do. The walk down to the end of the dock and beyond was a great time to see the horseshoe crabs, sting rays, and hermit crabs. St Joseph’s Park was clean and nice to have the bay for snorkeling and the ocean across the street. Indian Pass Raw Bar had tasty oysters and shrimp. I’d love to stay here again in the future.
Very nice cottage
Nearly new cottage on the bay. Very quiet and private yet convenient to everything on Cape San Blas. Great spot for a quiet getaway!
Quite and relaxing
Located at the one mile marker on the bike trail (Loggerhead Trail) on Cape San Blas.
Cape San Blas is 15 mile long Peninsula creating over 15 miles of continuous beaches and 15 miles of pristine bay front.. Our Cape is known for getting away from it all. No high rises within site as our county only allows buildings 3 stories high. An 8 mile bike path takes you to the State Park. Spend a day on the beach or rent a pontoon boat and spend the day on the day searching for Sea Turtles and Dolphins.
