About the property

Fontenoy-le-Château is located about 30 km south of Epinal at the Canal des Vosges. It is a medieval village with that typical French charm. There is a small port from which one can hire house boats. A stream that comes down from the Vosges accompanies the canal through the village. The valley is enclosed by a beautiful forest. 'L´Ecluse' is situated in a quiet living area facing the 'Canal des Vosges'. It is comfortable and well equipped. The upper level of the holiday flat is constructed in the form of a large open plan studio. Kitchen, living room and eating area are integrated on this floor. Furthermore there are three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a roof balcony and an amazing view from the garden over the village and the canal.

The ground floor is mainly used for storage and laundry faciilites

There is also a garage for bikes and wood (logs for wood burning stove)

Notes:
Behind the house of this two floor holiday flat there are four terraces that can of course be used by our guests for free but are not part of the rental agreement of the holiday flat. On the ground floor there is a garage (usable for bikes, motorbikes, dingies, etc.) that can be used upon agreement for no extra charge. Linen and towels can be provided at a cost of 15 euros per person per week. There are seven bicycles in the garage that guests can use with the owners permission. Bicycles are used at the guests’ own risk. Use of bicycles are not part of the rental agreement or covered by insurance.

relaxed eastern holidays

We (4 grown ups and one child aged 2) spend a splendid week in that house. It's really nicely refurbished and well equipped. We used the bikes a lot to make nice tours. Even our child had much fun - throwing stones and branched in the river and canal are real fun. Durning the evenings we love to sit by the fire in the oven. It keeps us really warm...

Last but not least: We were received very nicely and everything was well arranged. All in all a great place to stay.

It is a wonderful house in a row of different houses build together.

All is clean, good beds which is often not normal. Two perfect bathrooms with toilets on first and second floor. A big kitchen with livingroom and extra big table for having breakfast and dinner on the second floor. Big windows, so it is light in the room.

A wonderful new wooden floor. A good view to the canal, only over the street.

It is quite, no noise, so you can sleep very well.

You can walk along the canal or use the bikes.

The customer service is really good. Friends of the owner are living in the street. They are very nice people from England and they help you whenever you want..

We didn't go to a restaurant because we cooked for ourselves which is no problem in the kitchen either you are 7 persons.

We can recommend this property for hundred percent. It is perfect.

I wrote this in English language so that everybody can understand it from overall.

extrem feines Plätzchen!

Wir haben es sehr genossen. Ein perfekter Platz. Das Haus ist wunderschön eingerichtet, der sehr große Wohnraum mit Pantryküche hat einen traumhaften Blick auf Kanal und Fluß. Beide Badezimmer sehr fein. Alles da, was man braucht. Gute Betten!

Die Menschen am Kanal kommen aus allen Ländern der Welt und sind extrem freundlich.

Der Ort ist malerisch schön auf eine morbide zerfallende Art. Interessante Orte und schöne Landschaft rundherum.

Wir kommen wieder.

Viel Platz mit besonderer Atmosphäre

Direkter Blick auf die Boote, die auf dem Kanal vorbeiziehen - bequeme Betten - Frühlingssonne im terrassenförmig angelegten Garten - schöne Radtouren am Kanal und in der Umgebung - empfehlenswerte Bäckerei und Teestube in Fontenoy - bestes Wetter im April - prima ausgestattete Küche - wärmender Ofen am Abend - nette Begrüßung vor Ort - wir hatten sehr viel Glück mit der Wahl dieses Hauses!

You have named some of our favourite things -- breakfast on the terrace, evenings in front of the wood burning stove, walks and cycle rides along the canal and fresh croissants and cakes from the bakery (and the walk across the "passerelle" and along the cobbled "Grand Rue" to get them). I am pleased you found the kitchen amenable and well equipped; having everything to hand to make a nice meal in the evening is also important to us during our holidays in the house. Fontenoy le Chateau is a beautiful and special spot and we do hope we will be able to welcome you once again.

Wohlfühloase

Gemütliches Ferienhaus, direkt am Kanal. Geschmackvoll und funktionell eingerichtet, sehr schöne Bäder, großer Wohn-Essbereich. Die Fahrräder waren tipptopp in Ordnung. Nette Betreuung vor Ort und freundlicher Vermieter, sehr gute Abwicklung. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt und unsere Auszeit vom Alltag genossen. Kommen gerne wieder.

pure Entspannung

Im Letzten Jahr waren wir erstmals im Elsass, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Dieses mal wollten wir auf die andere Seite der Vogesen und sind in Fontenoy le Chateau gelandet. Eigentlich nur wegen der Bilder der Wohnung, die fanden wir so toll, dass wir kurzerhand gebucht haben. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Wohnung ist genau wie auf den Bildern, Küchenutensilien alles da , das Notwendigste kann man im Ort einkaufen, herrliche Backwaren, Obst...Restaurants im Ort. Was man nicht kaufen kann, kriegt man umsonst. Ruhe , Entspannung, Natur einfach schön. Wir waren wandern, mit dem Rad kilometerweit am Canal entlang (niemand fur hinter uns, keiner kam uns entgegen !!!!)und mit dem Auto waren es auch nochmal fast 700 km in einer Woche. Alles top wir gehen wieder hin

Canals, nowadays mainly used for tourist reasons, pass through the whole of France. Your holiday location is situated on the southern connection of the Moselle-Saône canal. The property directly overlooks both the canal and the river. Small tracks along the canal invite you to discover the region by bike. If you prefer walking there are lots of forests around the picturesque valley to explore. Only a few kilometres away you can experience the culture and charm of old french villages. The spa villages of Luxeuil-les-Bains, Plombières-les-Bains or Bains-les-Bains are nearby. Furthermore there are horse riding facilities, a public pool and the possibility of booking a tour in a carriage or boat hire.There are also a number of golf clubs and ski resorts within easy driving distance
