It's always 5 O'clock at Parrots Hope Beach Condo- check out Summer/Fall Special

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

Escape to one of the the most magical destinations on the planet, beautiful St Croix, USVI. The temperature is in the 80s all year and the trade winds keep it cool. The water is always comfortably warm and if you snorkel or dive you will be enthralled with the sea life just steps away. At Parrot's Hope Condominium in beautiful St Croix USVI you are just steps from the pool and the beach. This recently renovated second floor condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths - perfect for two couples or a family of 4. Everything you need to cook your favorite meal is in the kitchen - or there are dozens of restaurants in the immediate area. There is satellite TV and internet access in the living room and both bedrooms. There is always a breeze, and the views from the balcony are spectacular. If you snorkel or dive when you step out of the pool area onto the beach go east about 75 feet onto Sugar Beach and swim toward the reef. You will see all kinds of sealife from stingrays and turtles to caribbean lobster, angel fish and conch. If you are just swimming or walking in the water I recommend wearing surf shoes. There are bits of coral and lots of conch shells on the beaches and in the water.

There are 2 restaurants just steps away and many others less than a mile from the condo. The town of Christiansted is only a mile and half away with stores, restaurants, clubs and live entertainment. Enjoy the fabulous food, drinks and live music that are abundant all over the island.

Parrots Hope is conveniently located on the North side of the island half way between the eastern most point of the USA - Point Udall and the recently restored 17th century port town of Frederiksted on the west end with the most fabulous sunsets you will ever see. Rent a car or have a taxi take you around the whole island. St Croix is one of the few places on earth you can go from the rainforest to the desert in 20 short miles. For more information about the island and & Parrots Hope condo visit our website

Throw a swimsuit, your flip flops and your toothbrush in a bag and you are ready to go. You can dress up for dinner out or wear your shorts and flip flops. You will fall in love with this island just as we did 9 years ago when we came to St Croix for the first time.

***Notes from Caribbean Magazine...Colony Cove is truly special. It has two living reefs just off its long, balmy, palm-fronded beach. Its tranquil tropical herb garden is well-known throughout the Caribbean. Sun-drenched nature walks are just a few short footsteps away. Bird watching and sand castle building are all easily accomplished within its shady, floral-scented compound & palm lined beach.

About Joyce Hope

David and I have been coming to St Croix for 9 years. We love it here and knew this was a place we would want to stay when it was time to retire. For now we come here when we can, to our own piece of St Croix.

Joyce Hope purchased this condo in 2014

Why Joyce Hope chose Estate Golden Rock

We stayed at many different complexes on St Croix when trying to decide which one was a good fit for us. When we stayed at Colony Cove in 2013 we knew this was the place for us. The people were warm and friendly. It was smaller than many of complexes we had stayed in and we like the community feeling here. There are 2 restaurants just steps from the condo. Within a mile you will find a gas station, grocery store, some fast food restaurants and a couple of variety stores to pick up a little of everything. Christiansted is only a little over a mile from the condo and you can find anything you need there. Christiansted has a lot to offer from places to eat, drink, shop, book an island cruise or enjoy a jump up (a street carnival). More than anything we love the people of St Croix, both those that are from here and those that visited here and decided to make St Croix their home.

What makes this condo unique

We are close to everything you need so if you are not comfortable driving on the left anything you need is a short walk. If you want to go to another area call a taxi and they will take you where you want to go and come back for you later if you want to stay a while. They are very helpful. There is public transportation available too. Everything you need for a beach vacation is here. There is a beautiful pool PLUS just open the gate and you step onto the beach. There are restaurants next door or a few yards down the beach. You don't even have to get dressed up. Just throw on a Tshirt or sarong and head down the beach. If you like to cook out there is both a gas grill and a charcoal grill by the pool that you can use and a grocery store is within walking distance with everything you will need - including wine, rum and other spirits in addition to the fresh meat, seafood and vegetables from the island. This is the perfect place to relax and clear your mind of all those day to day worries.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The unit was very good and the service was excellent. The beach was good for sunbathing, restaurants were close by and the pool was nice.

Absolutely perfect...location and accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

Loved this apartment. We were two couples away for the first time together. The apartment is very spacious compared to anything else we have rented. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms worked out just perfect. The kitchen was equipped with what we need to make meals and the grocery store within a short walk. Believe it or not, the snorkelling from the beach in front of this complex is very good. We have snorkelled around the Caribbean and this man made reef of tires has some incredible fish,...French Angel fish were large and the best...Sting Rays, a little further out from the reef but not far out in too deep water. Not into Snorkelling? Well, the pool is kept very clean and the water never too cool. The beach is lovely too. Owner is very quick to respond and in our case was exceptional as our original accommodation had been flooded and Joyce only had one day to get it ready for us...can't beat this!

Property is nice, but ....

  • 2 of 5

While we enjoyed our stay in St. Croix, the arrival at the condo complex was a nightmare. Our flight was delayed by 3 hrs in Miami, due to weather; luck of the draw, nobody's fault. We arrived after midnight; the airport & car rental were shut down, & the taxi drivers were cranky to be detained so late. They grouped folks for ride sharing in the few taxis available, & we enjoyed chatting w/locals returning home from their trips. However, it took abt an hour to arrive at the complex, so we got there at 2:30 in the morning. So far, we are merely exhausted & eager to get to our room. The security guard was not expecting any late arrivals, so was reluctant to let us in the gate. After reviewing all the papers I'd printed for the rental, he let us in the gate & began trying to find any info about our rental. There was nothing, & he had no key to get us into the condo. After calling the management co., he was instructed to put us up for the night in one of the rooms they reserved for special problems. This temporary lodging was a bit shabby & I would have been extremely disappointed if that's what we'd actually rented. It appeared 'clean enough', except that the cup I took from the cupboard to get a drink of water had lipstick on it. We were instructed to check w/the front desk at 9 in the morning to straighten things out. (At this point we discovered one of our suitcases was missing, & could only assume the taxi driver had reloaded it in his vehicle). By this time, I'm in tears. But Damien, the security person, was stellar. He was a calming & reassuring presence; he brought us bottled water, wrote down multiple contact numbers, & left a note for the front desk to find our suitcase. In the morning, Sheila at the desk (a very pleasant & helpful young woman) handed me the keys to our rental, but couldn't really say what had happened the night before. She said we could go right to the condo, but when we went there, the door was open & the cleaning woman was working on the rooms. She instructed us to come back in a a couple of hours. This made me wonder if we had entered the rental on our arrival date, if we would have found it occupied or not cleaned from the previous occupants. Having been sent away, we walked down the beach for lunch, & while we were there, Sheila called to say she had located our suitcase & that we could now get into our condo. Beware if you are arriving anytime other than 9-5, M-F, as that's the only time front desk is open.

Owner's Response: My apologizes for the problem you had getting into our condo and that the cleaning ladies had not been able to get the condo cleaned before your arrival. I will be contacting the the property manager to find out how this went awry.

Nice but somewhat outdated

  • 3 of 5

The unit was well located although as specified the beach is not really a beach and you have to walk to the right. Unit needs a good revamp as there are humidity stains on the ceiling with white ceiling material falling on you when you seat on the couch. Also the AC unit in the master and the vent in the master bath are super noisy and need a check. The view from the terrasse is the best thing, staff is really nice and pool is also very nice.

Parrots Hope Condo

  • 4 of 5

All in all,it was a very relaxing stay. The condo was very clean with and well equipt. The only trouble we had, was at the beginning. We weren't given any codes to get onto the property or into the condo. Without the help of the night security guard we would have spent the first night in our car. The codes for the gates, and condo should have been emailed before we had arrived. Other wise we had a very pleasant stay. The condo is in a good location for seeing the island with stores, restaurants, and grocery stores near by.

We really enjoyed the condo, it was well apointed the views were great better then the picture. Being on the 2nd floor you could really see the gardens and the ocean. The lani was much larger then it looked. The beach in front is small but since right next door is a nice stretch of beaches, I enjoyed walking. Also a plus was the tire reef, you go to the left of the condo. Lots of fish and what a great idea to create a reef that now has brain coral etc growing on it. We rented a car from Olympus, which worked out great since they pick you up from the airport and you only have a minute drive to the condo. That helped since it was the first time driving on the left. I got use to it quickly since you drive in an American car with the wheel on the left side. We got to do 3 festivals and went to many beaches. There are some very good snorkel areas but due to the weather the weeks before it was too churned up to see much except at Buck Island which is great and the tire reef at the condo is an easy snorkel and had good visability. Also mt travel friend had alot of questions and Joyce was very patient in responding to her needs. Love St Croix, the people were so friendly and helpful and highly recommend the condo and island.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We just added a more powerful fan to the living room to bring in more of the cool breezes that blow all day and night and you can lock the screen doors on the gallery. I am glad you were happy with the accomodations. Just a note - None of the beaches on STX are private. You have access to any of the beaches on the island other than Sandy Point during turtle breeding time. There is a parking fee to go to the Buccaneer or the Carambola hotels to use the beach in front of their resort. The condo complexes do not allow you to use their furntiure they supply for their guest while you are on the beach in front of their complex but you are welcome to bring beach blanket and enjoy. A couple of great beaches that do not have a fee and you can drive right up to them are Cane Bay on the Northshore and Fredericksted beaches north of the pier are beautiful and no cost to park - just come and enjoy the beach. Glad you had a good time in St Croix. We hope to see you again!
