About the property

Our villa is set between hills and sea and overlooks the small town of Cavi di Lavagna, where you can find bars, restaurants and shops. Along the coastline, at a few kilometres of distance between them, lie several small towns where the local seafood and natural products of the lush inland are served in the restaurant. Because of the privileged position of our villa, you can reach many interesting places in a short time. In the West, a gorgeous scenic road leads to Portofino, worldwide famous for its setting, its steep cliff high up above the sea. In the Mount of Portofino it’s worth visiting the beautiful San Fruttuoso - that can be reached by boat or trekking on its many paths - its medieval abbey and marine sanctuary, where you can go snorkelling and scuba diving.A few kilometers away, you’ll reach the enchanting Camogli, with its small fishing village, and Recco, internationally known for its “focaccia al formaggio”, a kind of cheese pie. A 30 kilometers you’ll find Genoa – its squares, churches, aquarium and old docks, il “Porto Antico”, are worth a visit as well as the little train that from Casella climbs on the mountain slopes of Appennino Ligure among scenic views. In the East, Sestri Levante will greet you with its charming “Baia del Silenzio”, a secluded bay. Cinque Terre are five villages high up above the sea, linked by footpaths, that can be reached also by train. You can cover the distance between them on foot, taking in the enchantment of every single village. Other places to see in the same area are Lerici and Portovenere. At 120 kilometers from our place li

Spacious villa on the Italian Riviera

  • 5 of 5

With so many positive reviews, it's hard to know what to add. We spent a few days in this amazing villa and wish we'd stayed a month! It easily felt like home and served as a perfect base for exploring Liguria. The photos are accurate, but don't do it justice--no trick photography or wide-angle lenses here...the villa is as represented and more.

The entire villa has an expansive beach/shabby chic/well-worn feel. The rooms have high ceilings and feel spacious and airy, with plenty of bedrooms and baths that allow privacy for groups or extended families. Thoughtful touches abound. Fully equipped kitchen with all the basics for cooking (locally sourced olive oil, salt, seasonings) plus an impressive pantry full of specialty cooking equipment (espresso maker, French press, salad spinner, panini maker, etc.). It was nice to have a full-size fridge with water filter & water/ice dispenser. The small washer unit works well and drying racks are provided.

All the bedrooms are unique, spacious and charming, with amazing sea or garden views and black-out shades. Having individual A/C units in each room was a bonus. The elevator helps with moving luggage to the upper bedroom floors (note: it doesn't reach the top floor room). A rental car is recommended, as there is no rail service in Cavi (but it's just a short 5 min drive to Sestri Levante or Lavagna). You do hear the train go by below the villa near the shore.

The outdoor living space is the true showcase of this gem: large patio, multiple bedroom balconies with views, comfortable loungers & ample seating, mid-century modern tiled bench, hot tub, outdoor grill, all surrounded by your own olive trees and beautiful garden plants & koi pond. Truly a paradise on the Riviera!

Cavi village is small, but has a lovely rock beach to walk along. Staying here feels like you're living with the locals, rather than in a resort town (which has both its benefits and drawbacks). Nearby Sestri Levante is more tourist-oriented with sand beaches and a broader selection of restaurants and shops, plus a large coop grocery store.

Vincenzo and his lovely family are wonderful hosts: attentive, on-site, and available for questions or requests. His recommendations were spot-on and he went out of his way to make our stay exceptional. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Heaven on Earth

Villa Stagnaro was perfect for our group of six adults with rental cars. Vincenzo is a great host and the location was ideal for our explorations of the local area. We had several great barbecue dinners followed by a soak in the hot tub. Looking forward to returning again.

Incredible Villa. The views are amazing. Our Host was wonderful!!!

WE just returned home tonight from our wonderful stay at Vincenzo's beautiful Villa in Cavi. We were two couples and one friend come by for a few nights. There was more than enough room. The rooms were all big, clean and most of them have incredible views. There were plenty of bathrooms the best space was the living room, it felt like we were on a houseboat. Ocean views from every room. We spent so much time in the outdoor space, to have coffee in the mornings and one of the men with us owned an italian restaurant in Boston and cooked the most amazing dinners on Vincenzo's wonderful outdoor grille. This house has everything you need, including an elevator. There are a few great restaurants in the town, which is a very short walk but the best think is that this house is on the train line, which took us to see so many beautiful towns, Camogli, Portofino, Sestre Levante, Zoagli and the Cinque terre.. You couldn't ask for a better location. The owner is incredible, so helpful with anything, everything and a joy to hang out with. He takes pride in his lovely home and it shows. From the moment I made the reservation, Vincenzo was always so great to deal with but when we met him, we know why.. I know I am forgetting something but I give this experience with Vincenzo and his lovely villa 5 stars and we will come back again!! Ciao Vincenzo!! Paula, Nino, Kevin, Gail and Ludwig .. xo

We are a family of five and we were lucky to find such a wonderful home on the Italian Riveria last June. From Cavi we had access to the Cinque Terre by train for early morning hikes (before the crowds arrived) as well as visiting Portofino and the lovely and underrated Sestri Levante (Vincenzo also advised us on another amazing walk from here). We had a magical week and loved coming back to our oasis overlooking the Mediterranean. Thank you Vincenzo for your generous hospitality, advice and company and apologies for our belated review however it shows how special this place is that twelve months on I still feel the need to write.

Outstanding house, outstanding location, outsanding owner.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this lovely house in late May. The location is great. It is a short (less than 10 min) walk from the small town of Cavi, which has a few restaurants, coffee shops and retail shopping, a short (5 min) drive away from the resort town Sestri Levante as well as a short drive away from the small port town of Lavagna. Both of which have train stops that serve multiple cities as well as tourist destinations. You can cover most if not all of the Italian Rivera from his house. Monterosso al Mare, the start of the Cinque Terre is about a 45 minute drive to the South, Portofino is about a 45 minute drive to the North. Tons of other places to explore in between and within 60 minutes drive. Speaking of driving, the house comes with one garage slot with an automatic garage door.

The house was clean and well appointed, with the kitchen and outdoor gas grill serving all of our cooking needs. The owner, who lives adjacent to the property, was easy to communicate with and had numerous helpful hints and printed materials to help us find new things to do in the area. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. Though the house is situated on multiple levels embracing the hillside, the three stop elevator makes it a breeze. It is better in person than in the pictures.
