|Minimum Stay||3 - 30 nights|
Due to demand, we have already put up our 2018 calendar for your convenience. 2017 is booking up so hurry up and don't wait!
Your home for the next few days or longer is the Florida of the past with the amenities of today all within short walking distance to Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach Tennis Center and of course the beach! Upon your arrival, and after you've parked your car or two on our offstreet driveway, you can decide if you want to catch a Delray Downtowner FREE golf cart to the beach, a tennis match at the end of the block or attend one of the many festivals downtown throughout the year like The Delray Affair, Wine & Seafood Festival or the Delray Beach Festival of the Arts now in it's 26th year!
However, none of this would matter unless you had a nice, quiet, comfortable place to lay your head. That's why we have two brand new king and queen size BeautyRest mattresses to sleep a total of 4 people in our 1100sq.ft home.
The king size bed sits in the master bedroom with it's own walk in closet. The smaller 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed and storage for your belongings as well.
There is one full bath and one half bathroom for your convenience with hair dryer included.
In our living room sits a beautiful like new L shaped couch ready to welcome the tired travel for a Sunday morning nap, watching your favorite TV show or movie on our HDTV with BluRay DVD player, surfing the web with our 50MB download speed WiFI network or just shutting all that off and reading a book. It's your vacation, it's your choice!
If you like to cook, we've got you covered! In addition to the usual appliances we provide all dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans, bowls & measuring spoons (for pancakes!) toaster and coffee maker. If you're missing something for your meal like the gravy boat or that lemon zester, let us know and maybe we can help out! And yes, of course there's a grill!;) You are after all on vacation. Also, what better way to start your day with breakfast on the veranda, birds chirping, coffee brewing and the most difficult decision you're going to have to face all day is, 'Where are we going for lunch after the beach?'
Let's face it, you're going to have to wash those swim suits as well and that's not a problem with the full-size washer and dryer less than a year old. All linens are provided which include fresh clean bedding, bath, and beach towels too. You didn't think we were going to make you bring that did you? Oh and we've had a full landscape done that's growing in nicely!
The French Cottage is more than just wood, metal and stone…it's our home that we've decided to share with you, likeminded travelers who aren't looking for the buffet lines, the hotel bars and the awkward elevator silence, people who are looking to experience the locale and truly live like a local. Book your stay now, before someone else does! We look forward to seeing you. John & Lori McCormack
We are full-time Delray Beach residents and live right down the street from The French Cottage. We're continually trying to update and improve our home for ourselves and our guests. We recently had new siding, paint, flooring and tile installed on the veranda. When we're not working you can usually find us out and about with our dog in Delray Beach (we rarely leave) whether it's the beach, Lake Ida dog park, Atlantic Avenue or out west at the Delray MarketPlace. We love to travel in our spare time and have had the privilege of visiting Copenhagen, Berlin, Barcelona, UK, Prague and the Netherlands as well as frequenting the mountains of North Carolina. And what goes hand in hand better than travel? Food of course! We're both definitely foodies and will be more than happy to assist with local recommendations and would actually be offended if you didn't ask us where to go;)
John McCormack purchased this house in 2009
If given the choice again, we still would have picked Delray Beach to call home and it looks like we're not the only ones as our quaint little beach town has been featured in Conde Nast Traveler, Coastal Living and also voted 'Most Fun Small Town in America' by Rand McNally and USA Today.
You know how they say to never buy the first house you look at? Well, we couldn't be happier about that decision because one look and we fell in love. If you appreciate character, history and charm this house has it. It was originally built in 1930 and is a historic property but don't let the unassuming outside fool you because it's been fully remodeled with new electric, A/C, plumbing, and cherry wood floors and has all the modern amenities you might desire on your South Florida vacation! Wondering where the name came from? Well, we liked to pay a little homage to the previous owner who did a great job renovating the property and we feel like we must carry on with the improvements to this living piece of Delray Beach history.
Location, location, location! We're two blocks from Atlantic Avenue, just over a mile from the beach and only one block away from the beautiful Delray Beach International Tennis Center. Close enough but also far away enough from bustling downtown Atlantic Avenue. When you arrive here, put the car keys away because everything is within walking distance or a short relaxing bike ride away! Or if you prefer, just call our friends at the Delray Downtowner who provide FREE! eco-friendly golf cart rides within the entire downtown area. Let's face it, you could stay at a hotel but why pay twice the price for half the space? If you're looking for a unique experience dealing with real locals, we're here to help. We'd love to share our insider tips, knowledge and local pride in our 'Village by the Sea'
We had a truly wonderful stay at the French Cottage. The house was the perfect place for our family's visit to Delray Beach. Everything was set-up so thoughtfully and decorated so charmingly. John and Lori we amazing hosts, so focused on making sure we were all comfortable and had everything we needed. We come to the Delray area regularly to visit relatives, and we will certainly place to stay at the French Cottage again! So glad we happened upon this gem!
The house was absolutely adorable and neat at a pin. It had everything we could have needed - beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, water, more than enough kitchen stuff and charging cords. I could go on and on. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the house. My brother and I love to walk and the house is in a perfect location for that. The pictures on the site hold true if not we found it even nicer in real life! We will absolutely choose this house again. No other property will ever compare for us! Thank you for being great hosts and maintaining such a great property!
The French Cottage provided the perfect place to stay during our recent trip to Delray. To be honest, during the nights we heard noise from cars and some motorcycles on the adjacent streets, as well as some mild booming from subwoofers, which made me a little nervous at first. Having said that, understanding that I am a really light sleeper, there was never a single night when I had trouble falling asleep, or was woken by these noises. However, guests who are hyper-sensitive to street noises may want to think twice. This aside, The French Cottage is charming, and it's quite evident that the owners put a lot of effort and pride into creating a wonderful home for visitors. The house is clean, well-appointed, and safe. My family had fun exploring the house and discovering many little surprises left by the owners, which I will not describe so that they won't be spoiled for any future guests. The house is very convenient to most anything you would want to do in downtown Delray, as well as to the surrounding communities, should you wish to venture further away. My family walked to most every downtown locale of interest, and took our car to a couple places which were a little further away. Though we didn't need to use them, I noticed that Uber, Lyft, and a sort-of golf-cart-like Uber service were readily available in the area. John and Lori were extremely communicative prior to, during, and after our stay. Check-in and check-out procedures were clearly outlined for us, so there was no confusion or concern. They were always available and responsive during our stay, yet definitely not intrusive. I had noted on a pre-trip questionnaire that one of the reasons for our trip was our son's birthday. Upon arrival, my son was delighted at the sight of birthday balloons and some treats waiting for him! That's the kind of detail-oriented service that John and Lori provide which makes The French Cottage special. We have been to Delray several times in the past, with friends and family nearby, so we were fairly self-sufficient, and only used The French Cottage as a "base of operations" from which to engage in already planned activities; however, if there were guests who are newer to the area and/or would like more info on the what/where/when of Delray, John and Lori are definitely the locals you would want to be your guides! In summary: great place, great owners, would definitely recommend!
Our stay at The French Cottage in Delray Beach exceeded our expectations. We found it to be very handy to downtown, either by foot or bicycle. It was also handy to Atlantic Avenue to head west to I-95 or to various services west of I-95 such as golf courses, movies, etc.
The rear/side yard is very peaceful and private with a combination of vegetation and fencing. There is always somewhere to find shade or sun. I like to grill and it was great to have the BBQ.
The enclosed porch area was very handy as we kept our folding bikes there. John & Lori have it stocked with kids beach toys, plus beach chairs and a good sized umbrella.
Inside, the house is very nicely re-finished, with lots of nice touches here and there. Everything is in great condition. We felt very comfortable in the house. It just felt good and it felt "like home". I brought a square table with folding legs and used it as a work table and there was plenty of space in the "dining room".
The living room was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and J&L are pretty generous with a lot of supplies and "things" one might need. There is a surprise or two to discover for incoming guests.
Laundry was great to have as a long term renter (30 nights - November) and wanted to extend a few days, but couldn't as the place is popular!! Beds were comfortable. The whole experience was great. We have booked again.
John & Lori live and work in Delray Beach, so they are readily available to answer any questions or look into any issues that might arise. They are very friendly and want to make sure guests have the best possible experience.
We had been to Delray Beach 3-4 times before for shorter visits and this was our first time renting. We love the city and area and it is fast becoming our adopted second home.
The home was stylish and lovely. Decorated nicely and very up to date! Stocked with just about every amenity you would want or need. Lots of little extras made us feel special (fresh flowers & even a Thanksgiving treat). Communication with John and Lori was prompt and complete, making the process of renting the house less complicated. They even provided links to things to do around town and places to eat. We would recommend this rental to those wanting a homier accomodation than a hotel. Felt very comfortable there! Thanks John & Lori!
Located two blocks from Atlantic Avenue and less than a mile from I-95 in a historic and diverse neighborhood in Delray Beach, the French Cottage is clean and comfortable. Well cared for, well decorated, well manicured, and well appointed, our family of four quickly fell into calling it home. The property was stocked with everything we needed and we enjoyed the chic decor, the new appliances, the reliable hot water, and the capable air conditioner. We were always comfortable, rain or shine.
We made abundant use of the included beach chairs and became professionals at snagging the perfect parking space on Delray Beach located 1.4 miles away. We enjoyed many restaurants and shops on Atlantic Avenue, most of which were a short half mile away. Due to the summer temperature, we generally elected to drive, but always found free parking in close proximity to our intended destination on Atlantic Avenue.
The French Cottage served as a worthy home base for a month as we traveled all over South and Central Florida--Disney World (2 hours and 38 minutes), Everglades National Park (1 hour and 38 minutes), Fort Lauderdale (31 minutes), Islamorada (2 hours and 25 minutes), Key Largo (1 hour and 56 minutes), Miami (1 hour), Vero Beach (1 hour and 30 minutes), and of course, all the beautiful beach towns near Delray Beach itself. Regardless of how short or long our journey, we always returned to the French Cottage and found it felt like home.
The French Cottage specifically shines when one considers the absolute top notch hospitality of the owners, John and Lori. Before and after the transaction, and during our stay, John's communication was helpful, friendly, professional, and extremely responsive. The morning after we arrived, John called to welcome us to town and offer some timely last minute suggestions for our stay (this was on top of the already stellar local guide John sent prior to our arrival). While we were there, John was only a text message away and always polite, friendly, and helpful.
John and Lori take special pride in the special touches they add to their guest's stay--from the treats in the refrigerator upon arrival to the helpful signage placed just where you need it, to the fun challenges to help you get to know Delray Beach. A stay in the French Cottage feels like a concierge experience without the concierge price.
