Spacious 2BR-2BA w/ dock out front & boardwalk to the beach in back

Our "Boat House" is located on Little Gasparilla Island, a remote and bridge-less barrier island with no cars, stores, or restaurants of any kind. It is only accessible by boat and that makes for a wonderfully quiet and private vacation! If this is going to be your first visit to Little Gasparilla Island, we expect you have many questions about it, so don't hesitate to ask!

Details:

'Wall-of-glass' sliding doors open up onto the screened porch that spans the width of the house and makes you feel as if you are sitting right on the bay. The open-plan interior living, kitchen, and dining spaces are roomy. Large screened porch is furnished with comfy couches, and leads to the outside deck and dock. The two bedroom, two bathroom configuration allows you to have either a 'his' and 'her' bath connected to the master bedroom, OR, provides a private bath for each bedroom. A well-designed, immaculate home, all on one level.

All-new, full-size granite and stainless steel kitchen; tile floors throughout with glass tile accents; custom decor. Leather couches, top-grade comfy beds, and much more. Quiet and private location. Use of fire pit, extra outdoor kitchen/gazebo, kayaks, and fishing gear.

Located at the north end of the island, our 'resort-style' location (of 3 very private rental homes) borders Don Pedro state wildlife preserve and stretches from bay to beach. Enjoy the boardwalk that starts on the bay and winds through the mystical mangrove lagoons right to the Gulf of Mexico. This is a property like no other, designed with loving couples and small families in mind!

Espresso maker, wet bar area (with an extra full size refrigerator.) You will enjoy fabulous sunrises from your own private dock on the bay, and your strolls down the boardwalks to the very private beach to enjoy the surf and watch the fabulous sunsets.

NOTE: We also own the very private Couple's Beach Cottage, VRBO # 400780 that is part of our complex.

Neither home has a television connection - although we do provide a TV and DVD player and library of movies for your viewing pleasure. We are located on the narrow part of the bay where the wildlife abounds.

CONTRACT DETAILS:

- guests agree to hold owner harmless for any injuries or illnesses incurred while using our home, boardwalks, kayaks, grills, or other property

- guests agree to remove all food items and all garbage from the home upon departure

CANCELLATION POLICY:

The security deposit is fully refundable at any time if your trip is cancelled. The security deposit is also fully refundable if you depart early, provided that there is no damage to the property.

Any unused portion of your rental fee is fully refundable if your cancellation or early departure is due to hurricane or Red Tide. Rent is also fully refundable if your trip is cancelled 45 days or more before check-in. Rent is 50% refundable if your trip is cancelled 30-45 days before check-in. Rent is 25% refundable 15-30 days before check-in. Rent is not refundable within 15 days of check-in.

AIRPORTS/RENTAL CARS:

The closest airports are Sarasota to the north of us, and Fort Myers to the south. They are each about an hour and 10 minutes drive to the marinas that serve our island. Tampa is just less than two hours away to the north.

GROCERIES AND OTHER PROVISIONS:

The closest grocery stores to the island are both Publix. Driving from the South toward the marina, the Publix is located at the corner of McCall Road and Gasparilla Road, 13435 South McCall Road, Port Charlotte. Phone: 941-697-0279. Driving from the North toward the marina, the Publix closest to the marina is located at 8725 Placida Road, Placida, phone: 941-698-1699 Remember, there are NO stores or restaurants of any kind on Little Gasparilla Island. You must bring all supplies other than what is listed below. Don't forget to put sunscreen and bug repellent on your list!

INTERNET CONNECTION:

Your cell phones and smart phones will work fine from our home via your own subscription regardless of which mobile provider you use. If you wish to bring a laptop and desire Internet connection, we can also provide a Verizon Wireless Jetpack by prior arrangement.

PARKING and ARRIVAL at Marina:

You will park your car and catch the water taxi from the following:

- Eldred's Marina (which is really more of a bait shop). They are located at 6301 Boca Grande Causeway, Placida, Florida 33946 (NOTE: The marina is right BEORE the toll booth!) Their number is 941-697-1431. You will enter the little bait shop to obtain a parking pass for approximately $6.00 per day to put on your dash. The water taxi picks you up out front.

WATER TAXI: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

The local water taxi service is provided by Pirate Water Taxi, with either Emmett or Bill as your captain. They can be reached at 941-697-5777. You'll want to call at least two weeks before you arrive to make pick-up arrangements. You can expect to pay about $ 35.00 from Eldred's during normal business hours. If the captain helps with your bags, you should tip him about $ 5.00. Please do discuss the pick-up rates as fees change seasonally and also increase EVERY half hour after 5:00 or 6:00 pm. Make sure you tell him that you are coming to Rebecca Hagelin's house! They know us well and will bring you directly to our dock #2 where wheelbarrows await you for use for carting your items to your doorstep. IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU SCHEDULE THE TAXI IN ADVANCE.

GOLF CART RENTAL:

Some guests choose to rent a golf cart to explore the interior of the island during their stay. However, a golf cart is not at all necessary since there are no stores of any kind on the island. The only source for golf cart rentals is at 941-815-7554. Please note that there is a limited supply available, and they are not in the best of condition. You can expect to pay about $ 50.00 per day or $ 225.00 or more per week.

Why Rebecca or Kristin chose Placida

This charming Carribean-style property is just a short walk from our main house on the quiet and 'remote' north end of the island adjacent to the nature preserve. Recently rebuilt, it allows us to provide our guests an extra bit of privacy and comfort.

What makes this house unique

Quiet, secluded location on a great get-away island. Beautiful surroundings. Full water views. Easy-access boat dock and kayak launch right at edge of the front deck. House is built almost on ground level, not elevated on pilings, so there are very few stairs. Bay front, with boardwalk to the beach about 800 ft away.

As Advertised...

We have stayed in many places where the pictures of the homes were much more inviting than the real thing. However, in this case, "As advertised" were the first words that came to mind when we first arrived at the Boat House. The owners investment in the 2014 remodel of this quaint bay front home was nothing more than a spectacular collaboration of beauty, style, and comfort all together in this fantastic location. Although my family is comprised of all FL natives, we had never visited LGI before, but sometimes you save the best for last. There is something nice to be said about being able to be "disconnected" from the world while on vacation. Being accessible by boat only meant that there was no traffic noise. We only heard the sounds of the crashing waves from the beach side, the splashing of the mullet jumping in the water on the bay side, or the screeching of the local ospey. We thought we would possibly miss not having TV/Satellite or Wi-Fi (although it was advertised that Wi-Fi could be made available) but it was actually quite refreshing. The only devices we used were our phones to check the weather for fishing excursions or the afternoon forecast before heading over to the beachside. Otherwise, we realized that we were not missing a thing being "disconnected". We did bring Blue-Rays/DVD to watch on the TV and games for night time family activities. It was so great waking up in the morning to go on a fishing excursion in our boat or kayaking the bay and return to spend the afternoons on the beach. The Boat House truly offers the best of both worlds which made this the perfect location for my family who loves all things related to the water. Our 2 boys (10 and 6 years old) made great memories here this summer by catching their first snook (w/many to follow) and inventing the game of coconut soccer. Our last night was the "cherry on top" for our visit to LGI when we were able to witness a sea turtle returning to her birthplace to lay her eggs. This was a truly amazing experience and one many will never get to witness. We will definitely be returning to the Boat House for years to come to continue making these precious memories and bask in all that LGI and the Boat House has to offer.

Simply The Best!

Our stay at the Boathouse was perfect, from the décor to the added little touches it truly felt like home. The setting was so peaceful and relaxing. We had the best of both, with a private dock on the bayside for our boat and a very short walk to the beautiful beach. Also the added outdoor amenities of the fire pit and gazebo. Rebecca and Andy were so nice and accommodating. We would like to thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us. We are looking forward to many more vacations at the Boathouse on Little Gasparilla Island. The Gorski Family

Unspoiled perfection

You know how life moves at such a ridiculous pace these days? Well, slow down and savor the beauty of the Bayfront Cottage. We saw birds, dolphins, fish and tortoise from this lovely home. Most days we saw less than a handful of other people on the beach. So completely restful, this home looks like it comes from the pages of a magazine and is filled with all the creature comforts. We thoroughly enjoyed our time checked out from the rat race.

Perfect

We LOVE Little Gasparilla. This was our second time visiting the island and this house was perfect. We loved watching the sunrise in the morning from the dock. The house was clean and beautifully decorated. Rebecca was a wonderful hostess! We had everything we could possibly need. We couldn't have been happier and we can't wait to go back!

Little Gasparilla Island and the surrounding area remain a largely unspoiled part of Florida where the principal attractions are activities associated with its wonderful beaches, protected waters and natural parklands, as well as world-class sportfishing. While almost all imaginable Florida-type vacation activities (golf, tennis, theme parks, restaurants, cinemas, spas, museums, parasailing, etc.) are available somewhere on the nearby mainland, Little Gasparilla Island itself is free of any commercial development (only residences) and has no bridge connecting it to the mainland.

Guests enjoying this unique property have access to the its kayaks, fir pit, grill area, basic fishing gear and beach gear, and other recreational equipment.

Contact information can be provided for local vendors who provide boat and jet ski rentals, golf cart rentals, on-site or on-island massages, art and photography lessons, guided fishing trips, guided nature walks, sailing, boating, and kayaking excursions, sea plane tours, etc.

We encourage our extended-stay guests to take advantage of boat or jet ski rentals which allow further exploration of some of Florida's best backwaters, waterfront restaurants, and the quaint island resort villages of Boca Grande, Useppa, Manasota Key, and Captiva. Other nearby towns on the mainland that offer dining and shopping choices include Englewood, Venice, North Port, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte, as well as Naples, Sarasota, and Tampa.
