We bought this property because of its' exceptional location! At the east edge of world-renown-Cabarete, this tranquil acreage is minutes from the hustle of downtown and only 100 meters from the deserted golden sand beach stretching for seemingly endless miles. Your eye is drawn to the mature landscaping gracing the gardens, the mountain view inland past the lagoon, and the ocean out front.
Our unique location lets you enjoy peaceful tranquility, minutes from the busy downtown commerce and nightlife. The international airport at Puerto Plata (POP) is only 40 minutes west, and the DR's 'Pebble Beach' style golf course at Playa Grande is an hour east. A dozen beautiful beaches are within an hour's drive, as well as Ocean World Water Park, Marina and Casino where you can swim with the dolphins. Samana's whale watching is a few hours east along the coast. Numerous ancient caves dot our area where you can explore and swim in crystal clear underground pools, under stalactites overhead which ring like chimes when 'pinged'.

My room was clean as were the grounds. Les and Linda were really nice. I´d recommend this place anytime.
Barry is a wonderful guest and it was wonderful to host his Cabarete stay with us at Vecinos. What a joy to see how much he enjoyed his time here!
He explored a lot of our beautiful area and packed in a lot of adventures during his vacation - so FUN!

Where to start is difficult as so much of our 3 months stay was frustrating.
We were in the upper 2 bed 2 bath condo with another couple of friends. They had arrived 2 days prior to my wife and I arrived they were not happy with the condition of the condo. We soon found out why, the condo from the rundown furniture, beds, bedding, towels, cutlery etc were all in need of either replacement or a good cleaning. We spent a couple of days cleaning the apartment and all the bedding and towels which we washed on a regular basis an kept for our own use.
Les the owner lives on the property and tries his best to solve any issues, however there are so many as the property has been let go.
Any maintenance required is carried out when the guests arrive and pay there dues instead of being carried out prior to there arrival.
The beach access is across the busy main road and either through an overgrown pathway or by going through the condo complex caberete east.
Once you get to the beach there is no shade or loungers and the sea in the area was always too rough to swim.
Why did we not just leave well our friends had already payed and after we cleaned we also payed as we we had payed the owner directly instead of going through an agency there was no way we were getting any money back.
We were assured that there was security in the complex WRONG there Are 4 dogs And 4 cats. (Check U tube les Lehmann)
When you book the impression you get that les is there with his wife Lynda she is living in Canada and has not been there since 2014.
All in all our 3 months stay in this condo was a great disappointment and we found out that if you check around there is accommodation in the area 2 bed 2 bath in much better locations in much better condition for cheaper or similar cost to Vecinos.

Elizabeth and her family had so much FUN, it was a joy to see how much they enjoyed the pool and playing with the inflatable raft for hours - laughing and having a ball!
We welcome them back again anytime and appreciate them telling all their friends about us too! It's great to have such respectful guests who enjoy their stay so much! Looking forward to having them back next time they're in our area - cheers!
Worked well for us as we enjoyed the 40 minute walk into Caberette. Either road or beach. Taxi or motor at night is a better choice for most. Great restaurants and great one right across the road. Property is accross the road from the beach. Price is fair for what you get, nor a deal but fair. Of you are looking for 3.5 plus star keep looking. If you are looking for a comfortable safe place at a fair price you may have found what you are looking for. Refreshing pool and showers are also refreshing some mornings but all in all no complaints. Suggest you always have TP in your travel pack.

If TP stands for toilet paper, I guess that's always good advice when traveling in the DR as not all restaurants and bars are always up to Canadian standards.
Yes the pool is refreshing at this time of year and I always tell people the ocean is always much more comfortable to swim in temperature wise.
We are quite fortunate to have a high end condo complex across the street with a comfortable restaurant, Martinis, right on the ocean...georgeos sunrises and full moon rises as well.
We felt fortunate to get you a condo reserved for you after the several date changes and hope you enjoyed the upgrade to the two bedroom .
And yes, we do agree, it's a very decent place to stay in Cabarete. Hope you come visit us again.
I loved staying at Vecino's! I was there for 3 weeks over New Year's and into January, and it started to feel like home. I was made to feel welcome the minute I arrived, and Les addressed any small issues as soon as I identified them. Vecino's is not in the centre of Cabarete, but the walk (super healthy walk along the beach) and/or Motoconcho ride (50 pesos!) added to the adventurous feel of my trip. Saturday markets at Vecino's were so much fun, with artisans and vendors from the area as well as Les' amazing breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. And the dogs and cats were just so friendly. The pool is immaculate, the grounds are beautiful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We got our fill of coconuts, avocados, bread fruit falling from the trees, amazing! Thank you Les, it was a memorable vacation for me and for my family and friends, one that I will never forget. I miss the sound of your guitar and singing in the evenings, and your friendly "good morning" every day! And the memory of you walking me to the top level of Voy Voy's on New Year's Eve so that I could get a better view - fantastic! It was a great New Year's Eve. In fact, I loved it so much, I might just come back next year! It certainly beat the boredom and protectionism of staying at an all-inclusive resort - Vecinos made me feel like part of the community! Thank you!!!
Lynne fit right in at Vecinos.....either catching a motoconcho into town, meeting other expats at the Saturday Market, or just hanging out by the pool. Was great meeting her son, and later her daughter and boyfriend, then other friends that stayed at the next door condo, and finally another travelling companion for the last week.
New Years Eve was certainly a memorable evening as I was singing at the Kahuna Bar and Lynne and her family came to listen and then before midnight we ran next door ,in the rain, to the VoyVOy Bar which was packed full of young party goers from all over the world. Truly a party atmosphere and after awhile no one seemed to notice if it was raining or not.
I think my greatest pleasure is meeting so many people from different countries and never having to travel because they all come to stay at Vecinos , either for a few days, a week or a month, or more.
By the time Lynne left it really felt like saying goodbye to a friend and I hope she and her family do come back for another stay.... I'll be sure and save a Jumbo BLT just for you.

We decided to rent the whole condo for a group of Approx. 20 for a very fun weekend in Cabarete. Lynda was a love throughout the whole process, ensuring that each and every one of us had the proper sleeping accomodation and making sure everything went out smoothly. Always prompt to reply, always kind, and we had a BLAST!
Would definitively book again, the best way to enjoy Cabarete !

What a joy to see Haronny's group of 25 young people rent our entire resort and enjoy the privacy of having the whole property to themselves for their very own private party place!
It's an ideal set-up for a group like theirs, and they really enjoyed their time with us :) They were able to use the pool anytime they wanted to - and have it always open when they wanted to swim. We have an inflatable boat that they spent hours on - floating around the pool, laughing and trying to see how many would fit onboard - so much FUN!!!
They really enjoyed the condos too, playing their music, singing, cooking and partying all day - great FUN!
Since my husband & I live on site, we're available to help with any requests our guests may have. This group asked for some large cooking pots - which we provided - so they could cook large quantities for their group. The fully stocked kitchens in the condos, complete with full sized fridges and stoves came in very handy when they were cooking and preparing food for everyone :)
Our location is perfect to relax (or party) in all day, where it's peaceful and quiet, with easy access to all the happening downtown night life. At night they'd go into town where they danced the night away at the hopping discos. They returned in the early mornings and were able to sleep as long as they wanted in the tranquil condos nestled in our tropical gardens.
This group really enjoyed a wonderful group BBQ - using our large charcoal burning bbq we offer to our guests - to bbq delicious chicken and pork chops for everyone - yum!!!
Our tropical acreage with the 4 beautiful condos, large pool with a dozen sun loungers and large charcoal-burning BBQ are a perfect place for a group party or celebration.
We can accommodate 25 people (who don't mind sharing bathrooms) as this group experienced in relative comfort.
We were so happy to watch them having so much fun, and welcome them back again anytime! (and bring their friends too :)
We're on the main road, Calle Principal, at the east edge of Cabarete, 300 meters past Texaco, and on the same side of the street. Cabarete East, a luxury condo resort, is directly across the street from us.
Cabarete hosts World Cup competitions for kite-boarding, laser sailing, and annual sand-castle building contests.
Cabarete Caves show a glimpse of eons past.
Playa Grande, the DR's "Pebble Beach" is a must-see for golfers, and an hour east of us. Whale-watching tours bring tourists from around the globe in Jan/Feb.
