Wonderful cottage on the river. Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful experience. Perfect for getting off the grid with no internet, noise, crowds, etc. Totally relaxing and living in nature. Our Golden Lab especially loved swimming in the river and exploring the natural setting. Campfire at night topped off the day. Be sure to get your groceries in Marshall and prepare your meals at the house. The hot springs soaking tub was also a great experience. We will definitely be back again and again to get out of the city stress and stimulation.

A Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I sought respite from Hurricane Irma. We have two small dogs and wanted accommodations that allowed for this. We booked this cabin and all of us enjoyed this place so much. It is extremely well-appointed (although, the couches, though handsome, are not be the most comfortable, but, it is a cabin). Most importantly, it's wonderfully situated. It's hard to describe how a cabin can give the sense of being so remote; yet, close enough to amenities. A few suggestions, bring your own water (unless you enjoy the taste of well-water), visit Mountain Bluff Outfitters and there's a nice coffee house about 5 miles westward of town. Also, drive the 40 minutes to hike Max Patch for the view (back track after, don't try to be clever, and take the road forward and around {trust me}) and visit Lover's Leap (about 10 minutes from the cabin) for a little bit of a hiking challenge to see another spectacular view. We try to use VRBO as often as we can (Maui, Austin, Asheville, etc...) as opposed to hotels. This place was the best we've stayed in. Do yourself a favor, and don't wonder about this booking this place; if it's available, just book it.

It was everything that they said it would be creek right there , very quiet yet only a mile out of town and it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Perfect for kids. You can dip in the creek and fish. On cooler mornings u can light up fire pit! Surrounding smaller towns were perfect! Thank you had an awesome time!

Perfectly relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful experience during our stay! The house is simple but comfortable, and it had everything we could need for a lovely time. I especially loved all the porches! We drove into town on Friday and headed out Sunday in late July. Get your groceries in Newport or another town before you get into Hot Springs because there aren't any big stores, and most places close down around 6 or 7. Plus, once you get to the cabin, you won't want to leave :)

It was raining when we arrived on Friday, and we played outside in the rain for a few moments while the boys prepared dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. Bring your own spices, olive oil, etc., but all the dishes, pots, and pans are there for you. We listened to the rain under the covered, screen-in porch on Friday and ate our supper outside. Saturday was spent creekside with a short stint in Asheville for the Southeastern Crab Feast, which we had tickets for ahead of time. About 45 minutes but a lovely drive over the mountain. I almost hate that we had to go to the Feast because I was having such a great time at the cabin. We relaxed, kayaked the small stretch of stream, explored all over, and fished (you might want to bring your own outside blanket/quilt for snuggling up by the river while you drink your tea and enjoy the refreshing morning or peaceful evening). We had car trouble on Sunday, and Melanie was so kind, responsive, and as helpful as could be. The town of Hot Springs is a delightful place, but if you're going to need car parts (or anything MAJOR), then plan to drive to Marshall or Weaverville.

I have to say that the best part for me was getting up early on Saturday morning, drinking some hot tea (bring your own but there are great, giant mugs), and sitting by the water in the comfortable chairs provided. It was peaceful, beautiful, and downright rejuvenating. I loved that we had nothing to worry about, it was quiet, and the creek is simply perfect. Our kiddo did some exploring, caught innumerable newts in the quiet little stream that feeds down to the water, and caught about 14 fish in the creek! Sad we didn't get any fish pics! I think the house may use a salt-filter for the water, so if you are used to "city water" you might want to plan to bring a few gallons for regular drinking water. I boiled water out of the tap for my tea, and it tasted fine, but the rest of my fam was a little more picky.

I highly recommend this stay, and we're already planning our next trip back

A wonderful return to Musical Waters

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cabin last year during the Wild Goose Festival in Hot Springs and loved it so much that we booked it again - and already have our dates in place for next year. It's a perfect location, the accommodation has pretty much everything you would require, and the setting with the stream makes it a real retreat experience. The beds are comfortable, but do bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in, as the sunlight comes through the tops of the windows in the morning. The kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans (but missing a cheese grater and a kettle!), and has some very basic supplies (cooking spray, salt and pepper, some oatmeal) but you will need to bring in everything else if you plan to cook there. Melanie is great to work with, very smooth communication, and we are looking forward to our return in 2018.
