I am a small town girl at heart, raised in Sandpoint but now living in Portland and loving everything that the city has to offer. I am a professional and work in healthcare. I love the outdoors and think the rain in Portland just makes the sunny days more enjoyable. 5 things I wouldn't want to live without are my husband, sunshine, red wine, yummy food, and the occasional very sweaty workout. I am new to listing on VRBO but have used it frequently to rent vacation homes and had many great experiences. I often travel with friends or family and enjoy staying together and experiencing new places. I hope you enjoy my precious little gem (at least in my opinion) of an escape in Sandpoint.
Rachel Seitz purchased this house in 1996
It is a beautiful piece of property and I wish I could give it the attention it needs. I decided to update it and share it with others as a vacation home so it does not sit neglected and so I can still use it myself on occasion. Sandpoint is the best small town in the country in my opinion, however I will try not to oversell it and let you experience it for yourself.
The large pine trees, serene view from the living room, and peaceful environment are just a few of the reasons I enjoy it here.
Had a great week in this cabin. Its pretty frontier rustic from the outside but inside is all new and neat and clean. Very quiet - we enjoyed being in the woods and about 2 miles from town. Small Kitchen was very well stocked and all the towels and bedding were brand new and fresh. Great view across field, lovely sunsets and nice to have access to the garage. Bottled water was provided since its well water there - the hot water did have a sulfur smell to it but the shower was great and there was lots of hot water! We would rent again.
So nice to have a clean ,cute cabin to come back after a day out ! Perfect size! Rachel was quick to get back to me. Win-win!
We stayed for around 3 months. Rachel is very helpful and a great host. If we ever end up in sandpoint again we'll definitely stay here
We loved our stay at the cabin! My family of four stayed there for 4 nights after Christmas to go skiing up at Schweitzer. The drive to Schweitzer is easy (maybe 20 minutes). After debating staying up at the mountain, I'm glad we choose to stay down in Sand Point at this cabin. Being able to make our own meals for breakfast, go out to charming Sand Point for dinner, and enjoy the cabin for such a reasonable price far outweighed staying up at the resort. The cabin itself in cleaner and better kept than any VRBO I have stayed in with little details to make you feel at home. Usually we stay in larger rentals so I was worried. I shouldn't have been as my children said it was one of their favorites. Thank you for making our ski vacation to Sand Point a delight.
Close to town, yet in a beautiful, peaceful place in the countryside. After a long flight from Europe I appreciated how the kitchen contained a generous supply of soups and other food, so I didn't have to immediately search for a super market. The house is delightfully and comfortably furnished, a great place to relax.
We loved staying here. So quiet and peaceful. We have an infant and a 2 year old, plus a dog, and we were all very comfortable. Everything you need to enjoy the area and very clean. Loved it, we will be back!
Sandpoint lies on the shores of Idaho's largest lake, 43-mile-long Lake Pend Oreille, and is surrounded by three major mountain ranges, the Selkirk, Cabinet and Bitterroot ranges. It is home to Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Idaho's largest ski resort, and is on the International Selkirk Loop and two National Scenic Byways (Wild Horse Trail and Pend Oreille Scenic Byway). Among other distinctions awarded by national media in the past decade, in 2011 Sandpoint was named the nation's 'Most Beautiful Small Town' by Rand McNally and USA Today.
