About Rachel Seitz

I am a small town girl at heart, raised in Sandpoint but now living in Bend, OR and loving the sunshine and everything the area has to offer. I am a professional and work in healthcare. Five things I wouldn't want to live without are my husband, sunshine, red wine, yummy food, and the occasional very sweaty workout. I have listed on VRBO for the last couple years and also frequently use it to rent vacation homes and have had many great experiences. I often travel with friends or family and enjoy staying together and experiencing new places. I hope you enjoy my precious little gem (at least in my opinion) of an escape in Sandpoint.

Rachel Seitz purchased this house in 1996

Why Rachel Seitz chose Lake Pend Oreille

It is a beautiful piece of property and I wish I could give it the attention it needs. I decided to update it and share it with others as a vacation home so it does not sit neglected and so I can still use it myself on occasion. Sandpoint is the best small town in the country in my opinion, however I will try not to oversell it and let you experience it for yourself.

What makes this house unique

The large pine trees, serene view from the living room, and peaceful environment are just a few of the reasons I enjoy it here.

Had some problems but it was CLEAN!

  • 4 of 5

It was very clean and comfortable and we appreciated that. We were glad we arrived during the daytime because it would have been VERY difficult to find it in the evening hours. The signage for the number for the house was hidden by tall grass and weeds. As it was, it took us a while to find it.

We were there for our son's wedding and on the morning of the wedding at 8:00 a.m. the power went out...as we were getting ready for the wedding. At first we were told it must be just us and to check the switches in the house; however, it also happened to at least one other person, so I'm not sure what was going on. NOT the most opportune time for this to happen. We were told it should be back on by around 12:30 but there was no way we could wait that long. We had to try to make other arrangements to get ready.

Other than that, it seemed a nice enough place. There were problems with hornet/wasps outside on the stairway though.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you found the place clean - that is something that is very important to me. The power was out in the area - Avista Utilities is the local power provider and it was a problem somewhere in the system and yes others in the area were affected. This was very unfortunate given the timing of your son's wedding but completely out of my control. It is rural Idaho! I responded promptly to your husband's phone call and immediately called the power company to find out the status and called back within a couple minutes with the update on when power should be resumed. I actually helped him troubleshoot by explaining that it was not the breakers if all the power in the house was out - he insisted on checking the breakers anyway so I directed him to locate the breaker box. I will make sure to take care of the wasps and tall grass in front of the sign, thanks for the feedback - the property is listed as "cabin in the woods" and fighting back nature is a constant battle. Sounds like next time a hotel might be a better fit for your expectations.

Wonderful - very quiet week in cabin.

  • 4 of 5

Had a great week in this cabin. Its pretty frontier rustic from the outside but inside is all new and neat and clean. Very quiet - we enjoyed being in the woods and about 2 miles from town. Small Kitchen was very well stocked and all the towels and bedding were brand new and fresh. Great view across field, lovely sunsets and nice to have access to the garage. Bottled water was provided since its well water there - the hot water did have a sulfur smell to it but the shower was great and there was lots of hot water! We would rent again.

Charming cabin close to town and mountain

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the cabin! My family of four stayed there for 4 nights after Christmas to go skiing up at Schweitzer. The drive to Schweitzer is easy (maybe 20 minutes). After debating staying up at the mountain, I'm glad we choose to stay down in Sand Point at this cabin. Being able to make our own meals for breakfast, go out to charming Sand Point for dinner, and enjoy the cabin for such a reasonable price far outweighed staying up at the resort. The cabin itself in cleaner and better kept than any VRBO I have stayed in with little details to make you feel at home. Usually we stay in larger rentals so I was worried. I shouldn't have been as my children said it was one of their favorites. Thank you for making our ski vacation to Sand Point a delight.
