Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Mango Groves - Casita De Las Palomas

1000 Sq Ft Home With Pool, Sleeps 6, Minutes To Beach, Dining, And Shopping

This charming vacation bungalow has three small bedrooms - The master bedroom is 10' x 10' and has a queen bed, cable TV and an en-suite 5' tub/shower combo. Bedroom 2 (11' x 8') has a twin bed with twin trundle, and bedroom 3 (11' x 8') has a full sized futon. The living room couch is a queen sleeper. (we save that for the kids!) The 2nd bathroom has a stall shower and a stacked washer/dryer. Cable TV and WiFi are included. The house is walking distance (9 blocks) to Lake Street shops and dining in downtown Lake Worth and a short drive (2 miles) to the beach. The floors are varnished plywood so tracking in sand from the beach is no big deal. The full kitchen has a range, dishwasher, microwave, blender, coffee maker, filtered water in the large fridge and the usual assortment of cookware and dishware one finds in a vacation home (lots of it, but mismatched!) The kitchen dining table seats 4

About Scott Dolphin

We live in upstate NY and have owned and used this charming vacation home as a family retreat since 2003.

Scott Dolphin purchased this house in 2003

Why Scott Dolphin chose Lake Worth

It's a great place for casual family getaways. The house is situated on the back of the 50' x 125' lot with the patio, pool and landscaping all to the front. We love Lake Worth for its laid back atmosphere, its truly diverse community and its close proximity to the gorgeous Lake Worth public beach (one of the few public beaches in Palm Beach County) Lake and Lucerne Streets in downtown historic Lake Worth have several great restaurants and shopping. We chose Lake Worth for it's charming homes, convenience to local shopping, dining and the beach. We also like that it's out of the way of the flight paths leading into Palm Beach International Airport that fly directly over most of West Palm Beach anywhere north of the spillway.

What makes this house unique

This property is centrally located to anywhere in South East Florida. Just off the Interstate 95 10th Avenue North exit and in between A1A (North Federal Blvd.) and South Dixie Highway in the Mango Groves district, you are minutes from historic and opulent Palm Beach, Boating, fishing and diving in Delray and Boynton Beaches, The spectacular PGA and Trump golf courses and a few minutes from Wellington, Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton and an hours drive to vibrant Miami Beach. NOTE: The Southern Freight railroad tracks run through all the coastal communities in south Florida however they are several blocks away, closer to I-95. You can hear distant trains at night but it's NOT overly loud. We get used to it pretty quickly. The doves are louder!

The location of the house was very convenient to the beaches however the property needs updating

  • 1 of 5

Sleeping on the bed in one of the bedrooms was like sleeping in a concrete floor

The pool was dirty

The house across the street from this property was boarded up

Then property need updating

I felt that I overpaid for what the property offered

Really comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

This property was a great size for our family gathering which included six people. Having two full bathrooms was really nice. The door that separates the bedrooms from the living area came in really handy with noisy kids. We had a blast in the pool and at the beach which was a short drive away. The yard felt private and like a tropical getaway. The owner, Scott, was very accommodating and helpful. We hope to be back soon!

Great little house

  • 5 of 5

Great little house. Had a group stay here for a wedding weekend. Was convenient to all the events in the Palm Beach area. An easy walk away from downtown lake worth and supermaket. We particularly enjoyed the front yard area. Great chairs and pool for sitting and enjoying the weather.

Keep looking

  • 2 of 5

There is a lot to be said for the big picture, which in the case of this house, includes several trains that go by during the night and lay on their horns, and a neighborhood that left us feeling a little less than safe. While the listing is accurate, we wish we had known these things. The house itself is fine, just tired. We wish there had been more in the way of kitchen appointments (pots & pans, utensils, etc.) and blankets. The pool is great, just wish we'd figured out how to turn the heat on!

That said, it was clean, not far from the beach, and the owner was responsive.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry you were disappointed in your stay and felt the neighborhood was unsafe. Our children have grown up playing all around the Mango Groves area and we have never had any incident to fear for our safety or our possessions (Hurricane Frances notwithstanding) While we cannot do much about the railroad (which is an issue in all the historic neighborhoods throughout coastal West Palm and Broward counties, after a while we don't even hear it) we welcome your suggestions as to whatever kitchen amenities, linens and additional instructions for the pool heater you felt were missing. The pool heater is brand new and had instructions both in the breaker box and inside the house, there were spare blankets in each bedroom and in the ottoman in the living room and the kitchen had a full set of cookware on our last inspection. If anything is missing we will assuredly replace it immediately.

Florida family fun

  • 5 of 5

The Lake Worth cottage was very accommodating for the week vacation my family of six adults and one ten month old. We were able to cook breakfast and several dinners. The court yard with swimming pool was a great place to gather and relax. The location could not be better Lake Worth is full of fun restaurants and shops, we could not get to them all and the beach is right there. We found palm beach a short drive away when we went sailing for the day. The owner of the property is available, accommodating and fair. We will be back!!

Family holiday in Florida

  • 4 of 5

The house is fronted by a pretty garden, pool and seating area. The sitting room was cosy and comfortable. The bed in the main bedroom was superbly comfortable. The twin room (may have been lost in English/American translation) is actually a single room with a pull out mattress not a twin room with a pull out mattress.

The kitchen has everything you need. We enjoyed out stay.

There are nice restaurants on the way to the beach especially "Suri" an American version of tapas. Good beach at Lake Worth, backed by food and drink outlets.
