About William Harty

One of our other passions is music. I was involved with the Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps for 26 years, as a marching member for 10 years and 16 as a choreographer and director. My whole family was involved in one way or another. My sister Celeste and Paul were members while sisters Claudia and Regina, followed and helped with management. My father was very active as director and my mother sewed flags and followed us every where.

My son has followed in music and was a member of the Green Thunder Percussion Ensemble and has been taking piano lessons for 15 years.

I am currently president of Ray's Hvac, a heating and air conditioning company that my father Ray started in 1956. My mother and brother Paul work for the company as well.

My son and I have 3 dogs: Minnie Pearl, a Jack Russell/Pomeranian, Magnolia, a Fox Terrier, and Mr. Conrad, a Border Collie. Both Minnie Pearl and Mr. Conrad were rescued from visits to Ireland.

We are involved along with my sister Claudia with Young at Hearts, a senior pet rescue and adoption organization. My son also volunteers at the Animal Care League of Oak Park.

My son and I are parishioners at St. John the Baptist in Winfield, and I am also a member of the Human Rights Campaign.

About Us

William Harty, owner

Being from Chicago, I always had a vision of owning a grand 4 flat in Rogers Park, Residence on the Avenue. The architecture was very different from other areas in the city.

As a young man, and even now, I love the drive north from the city up Lake Shore Drive and continuing on to the historic Sheridan Road.

The building was purchased in 2003, and in 2006 we did a major rehab. After doing full time rentals, we decided to do vacation rentals in two of the condos. We felt some thing this great should be shared.

What makes this condo unique

This condo because it is on the top floor is amazing on a sunny day. The grand open floor plan is great for gatherings. Even if you are working away in this great kitchen you can enjoy the rest of you family or friends at the granite breakfast bar. The master bath is also a great feature of this condo with the whirlpool and separate shower.

The perfect Chicago get-a-way

  • 5 of 5

My family and I could not say enough great things about the residence on the avenue in chicago. We had a group of 15 and were able to rent the entire building (all three condos) for the weekend. Ross the building manager was extremely helpful in getting everyone settled in and William the owner couldn't have been easier to work with. We would highly recommend this property!

We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. William and Ross were both very friendly and helpful. The condo was nice, airy, and filled with sunlight. It could use more supplies in the kitchen. We did not have enough plates/bowls so had to run the 1/2 full dishwasher after every meal. There wasn't any tinfoil/plastic wrap/baggies in the kitchen, so storing any left over food was tricky. Just be aware that kitchen supplies are sparse. The master bedroom is very large, with a walk-in closet. The bed was squeaky but comfortable. The second bedroom had a nice bed, large dresser, and two closets. The third bedroom had one twin bed that was just a mattress on the bed frame. It was not comfortable and was terribly noisy. The other bed in this room was a trundle bed. It was not very strong, and not very comfortable, so suggest it is best for children. The bedding in the other rooms was fine, but in this room the sheets were threadbare and there were no mattress covers. With the trundle bed in use, there was about a foot of space to walk between the beds to get to the closet. We would have greatly appreciated if there was a dresser in this room. There were 3 air beds available in the condo. The one we used was self-inflating, and comfortable. When blown up, it was the height and size of a regular twin bed. All closets had hangers, which we appreciated. There was an iron available in the condo, as well as a washer and drier. In the hall bathroom, only one outlet worked. In the living room, the couch faces into the neighbor's apartment. We felt awkward and would have appreciated curtains there. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. There aren't really any stores within walking distance so plan ahead. We used Uber/Lyft to get around and found that to be very convenient. We observed that during the daytime, there was always street parking available near the condo, but at night, the street was packed. Check out time was 10:00 am. We were asked to run the dishwasher and put the dishes away, which meant we had to have paper products or not eat breakfast that morning. Just something to be aware of and plan ahead for. Our stay ended two weeks ago, but we haven't yet received our deposit. We left the condo undamaged and cleaner than when we found it, so are hoping it is refunded soon. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and would choose to stay there again.

Tons of space and amenities! Great place to explore Chicago from on the way north side.

  • 4 of 5

The condo is quite large - 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a very large kitchen/dining room/living room layout. It was the perfect place for my family to call our homebase during our stay. We were greeted and shown around and felt very welcome. We had 2 kids with us so one could have one bedroom and the other the smaller one. It was perfect! No fighting over sides of the bed. We had garage parking which was a bonus too though parking in this neighborhood isn't too bad. The garage is tiny but I had lived in Chicago before so I was used to backing into it. The condo was very quiet too, not much street noise. We walked to a nearby park with our kids too. It is very far on the north side, Rogers Park, but a lot of our activities were on the north side and we were driving to Wisconsin later so it was easier access to the freeway. But if you are mostly going to be downtown just take note of the amount of time to drive back in (Lakeshore is easy though).

All in all a great stay! Tons of space, very clean, felt right at home!

Good value and nice place

  • 4 of 5

Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay. It was a few blocks away from the train and allowed us easy access to the downtown area. We were concerned about the parking based on the reviews and having couples coming from two directions. When we arrived though there was a few on street spots and we were able to get a 2015 Explorer easily into the garage. The place was nice inside as advertised and the onsite support was helpful upon check-in.
