A XVII century mansion, completely renovated in 2004, tastefully decorated by artist with many publication in design magazines, ideally located in the heart of the historic center of St Martin de Ré, 20 yards from the charming harbour, its cafés and restaurants, with "le marché" at 100m. From the master bedroom, one can see the harbour masts and the sea. In the square courtyard an old fig tree gives shadow in the summer.

Charming and comfortable house. Very helpful agents.
From the moment we were shown around the property we we knew we were going to have a superb stay. The entrance opens into a large useful covered space to keep our rental bicycles. This space opened either into the house or straight into a courtyard. Both spacious and easily accommodated the 10 of us. The small pool/spa was heated and was an adaquate size for a plunge and 2 children with us learnt to snorkel in it and have hours of fun. The kitchen area was super for meal prep with 5 gas rings and a large electric oven. The spacious fridge was very much appreciated. The beds were very comfortable with super towels and good quality bedding. The master bedroom was also spacious and airy. The whole house was charmingly decorated. The property is close to a pretty harbour area, attractive shops and wonderful patisserie enabling easy strolling for our tasty breakfasts and entertainment at any time of the day. The agents were very helpful and tried very hard to accommodate us re meet ups, vacating, and a couple of problems (key problem and dishwasher not emptying). Also gave us timely text reminders re waste bins as very helpful to the running of the house. There is no parking at the property and in high season cars are not allowed in St Martin except for loading and unloading the agent met us outside area and gave us a card to enable entry. The car was parked later at Cible beach area (15 min walk) this was free. We could have chosen 30 euro per day parking 5 mins away. We soon chilled into cycling and walking to cars if needed but only used car once to tour the rest of the island using bikes for most sorties to other areas and beaches. There is a supermarket that was used a few times by bike and there is a fresh food market and a few small ‘top up’ shops in St Martin de Re. We booked earlier in the year to reserve table at La Cible restaurant for a birthday lunch and food and service were superb. The weather was thankfully wonderful an unforgettable family holiday.
Stunning property in the heart of the port. Beautifully curated and tastefully done it was a joy to stay in. The house feels like someone’s home and our family loved the holiday.
Comfortable; modern conveniences inside an elegant old building in the heart of town, yet quiet
Not only was the property all you could ask for, including modern conveniences and appliances housed in a fabulously old building, but it was situated in the middle of town and yet quiet and private. A beautiful courtyard served as the centerpiece of the property. The only thing better than the property was its management. Help was always just a text message away. It is, by far, the best place we have ever rented. I recommend it unreservedly.
Beautiful house with well functioning kitchen bathrooms and terrace
Whilst the property was wonderful the visit was marred by the arrogant and demanding nature of the agents . From arrival where beds had not been made up to specification to being “ told” when to leave bins out , abrupt notifications of when and how we were to leave the property and finally being “ told” to strip our beds on the final morning , the whole visit has a cloud over it.
There is no need to treat international guests in this way. There was absolutely NO service from the agents other than these communications.
The final insult was to be charged hundred of euros to” clean “ when we had been instructed to do nearly that anyway ...Eg empty dishwasher and put away crockery.
We travel all over the world and have rarely encountered such treatment.

At 10km of La Rochelle airport, 15km from Railway station. The street is partially closed to cars, an access code will be given to access to the restricted area. A secured parking lot is available at 50m from the house.
