Overview

About the property

Gorgeous 5 bed/3 bath property on 142 acres, Lodge and Cottage are all yours!

First, a heart-felt thank you to all who have come to love Lakeview. It truly has become our retreat as well. We have loved and learned so much from hosting over 100 groups from church and leadership groups, company workshop training, dozens of family reunions. We are so grateful for the many lovely comments and reviews. We love interacting with you before, during and after your stay. We enjoy hearing about your experience and always look for ways to make Lakeview more special for each guest.

Everything in our original description still applies, and more! More cleared yard, more flowers and landscaping, new basketball goal and volleyball, large mulched swingset area, tire swing, 40 foot tall tree swing, huge fire pit with homemade benches.

For those that loved our good friend's original description or if you have never read it, we have kept it unchanged below.

Turn yourself in a 360-degree circle and all you see is grass and tree meeting the sky. The extraordinary landscape at Lakeview will take you on a journey to the heart of native Oklahoma, concentrating largely on the green country. It is filled with breathtaking views of the wondrous landscape and wildlife that inhabit its 142 acres.

As you arrive at Lakeview you are introduced to the main lodge. With its natural stone and cedar construction you feel as though the lodge was placed there by nature herself. After finding a private place to meditate, to journal, you stop and reflect under the shade of the 1200+ square feet of cedar porches. You feel your energy re-invigorated through a peaceful frame of mind.

Along with the sunrise and sunset extravaganzas, you can enjoy the outdoor fire-pit as you watch the smoke trail up to the skies and you feel your connection to the circle of life.

Though you don’t want to stray far from this safe haven of cedar and stone, there will come a point when you will want to roam around the grounds, catching the rays of sunlight through the canopy of trees and walk along the paths. The longer you stay the further you want to explore the forested trails and to experience the exciting peace of your heart and mind that has begun in earnest.

As the concept of time slips away you are washed over by the familiarity to the world around you that you have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Every aspect inside Lakeview is as tranquil and natural as the outside. As you walk into the main lodge the scent of cedar washes over you as you stand beneath the ceiling soaring over 20 feet that appears suspended by a single tree. You notice the natural Amish rocking chair and deep leather furniture inviting you to sit and relax before the working [gas] natural stone fireplace. The main lodge has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms and sleeps individuals, couples, a family or multiple families comfortably.

The sensory experience doesn’t end. Take advantage of the fully stocked pond suitable for fishing or swimming, full amenities in the butcher-block counter kitchen, play one of many family-friendly games and recreations, read from the great selection of children, youth and adult books, or relax in the jetted tub or double shower in the master bath. The little ones (and their parents and grandparents) will love the large enclosed backyard with a huge sandbox.

Your next step is through the double glass doors onto a cedar porch with a breath-taking view of the lake on one side or the idyllic pond on the other. There are also several picnic areas to choose from.

The Cottage is connected by the covered deck to easily accommodate your large group or extended family. Lakeview is also a great choice for a romantic get away for just the two of you. The full property is yours to enjoy, whether you use just the Lodge or also the Cottage.

At Lakeview, you will witness at night by the star-filled sky, and the beautiful natural surroundings by day. You will feel its profound effect on your daily life as Lakeview becomes a cherished memory of your life’s journey where you will want to return again and again.

About Paul Kempf

We moved to Tulsa from Ohio in 1987 to attend Bible college. In 1993, with 5 children aged 2 - 11, we moved to Russia to minister to children and train children's workers. We moved back to America in 2000, Paul started an IT consulting company and we started learning real estate. This property is our first vacation rental, but have been using vrbo since 2003 when we rented our first condo in Hawaii. We have rented dozens of condos and homes and made many friends who have vacation rentals, who are always willing to share ideas on how to enhance the experiences of each person and group who stays on their property. We invite you to share this part of our dream with you, your spouse, your family, your loved ones or your group.

Paul Kempf purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Paul Kempf chose Oklahoma

We purchased Lakeview to have a place where our family and friends could enjoy time away from the busy-ness of life, and feel rested and rejuvenated while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of nature and family and friends.

What makes this lodge unique

We knew as soon as we saw Lakeview that this was an ideal spot for us and others to enjoy its charms and beauty. Overlooking the lake on one side, the pond on another side and the high bluffs at the back brings such a sense of oneness with God's beauty and restfulness. Every time we drive up the private, winding road leading up to the lodge, a deep sense of peace and relaxation comes flooding back. Come share it with us and we believe you will agree!

Guestbook comments from the owner

May God bless you as much as you've blessed us!

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

The property and lodge were very beautiful. The grounds were very well maintained. We had a large group of 16 people ranging in ages from 2 through 55. Our favorite places to hang out during our stay were the back porch and the fire pit. We had coffee in the mornings enjoying the fresh air and gorgeous views of the lake on the back porch and did s'mores by the campfire in the evenings. There were a few minor things that we were a bit disappointed about. We were not able to swim in the pond for it didn't look clean. The surface had an oil like film on it and was covered in small flea-like bugs. We tried fishing the pond as well and were unsuccessful in getting anything to bite. It didn't appear to have any fish from what we could tell. We ended up just making the short drive to Sequoyah state park for swimming and fishing and had an absolute blast! The teens and young adults stayed in the cabin while the married couples and small children stayed in the lodge. This worked out great for the different age groups for we had different bed times. However there was no microwave in the cabin and so the teens would have to come in the lodge several times in the night to make popcorn or other microwave meals and snacks. Otherwise having 2 separate living spaces was very nice for different age groups and sleeping/napping schedules. Overall it was a great trip and very relaxing with beautiful views and quiet atmosphere. Thank you so much for having us!

Owner's Response: Jessie, Thank you for the nice review and the suggestion for the microwave in the Cottage. You are the first to mention it and we had not thought of it. We will get one for the next group. The pond is a challenge in the summer, especially if it hasn't rained much in the past week, which it had not. We have had lots of other groups mention catching fish, so we will check on that. We are glad you all had a great time. We love the different spaces, too, for different ages/needs. It worked great for our reunion in June with babies, toddlers, pre-teens and adults. All the best, Paul and Diane

Our family loved this home. We created new memories.

  • 5 of 5

I have rented several VRBO homes and this one is at the top of my list. This home offers so many options for multiple families. The pictures do not do the surrounding justice it is so beautiful. Both adults and children had a great time. These are the best VRBO owners I have ever worked with. Fantastic place!!

Swimming pond, large fire pit and beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for a large family reunion. The swimming Pond was excellent and very large. The fire pit is great for a very large family we cooked hot dogs tin foil dinners and roasted s'mores. The main cabin is beautifully done and has great kitchen space for serving large family. Lake Fort Gibson, which is only about a 10 to 15 minute drive away, has a golf course, lots of hiking trails, horseback riding, boat rentals and a very fun swim Beach. Don't forget to bring your bug spray and sunscreen.
