At a short walk from central park, you will enjoy this finca-style house built in 1974 by an American writer in love with Guatemala.
We kept the house in its original style and furniture.
The part of the building situated by the street is from colonial era, with 80 cm-thick walls.
A first room is fitted with a king size bed (made of two single beds that can be separated if needed).
The second room is twice bigger and equipped with 3 single beds.
These rooms share a bathroom with hot tub and shower.
Another building hosts a laundry with washing machine and dryer, as well as a fridge, and an door leads directly to a large equipped kitchen with modern oven, dishwasher, microwave and all kind of accessories for cooking.
When you go out out the kitchen, you will enjoy the colonial pila (fountain) before arriving in the main two-storey building.
At the first floor, the comedor with view to the pool, then the living room with danish and guatemalan furniture, around a chimney, and in in between, a tropical wood stairs lead to the second floor.
When you are up the stairs, the guest room is on your right, and the master bedroom on your left, while right in front of you is the access to the terrace, with astonishing view to the church, Antigua roofs and volcanoes.
Both of the rooms are made of wood, with large bookcases facing the beds (queen size in the guest room and king size in the master bedroom).
A chimney reflecting in a mirror lets you enjoy the fire from your bed in the master bedroom.
Each room has its own toilets and shower.
When you go down again to the first floor, the door opens on the garden at the back of the house, with a piece of lawn surrounded by tropical lush, and a few acapulco chairs to relax.
On the western side of the main building, the space is filled by a 6.5 by 3.5 meters solar heated pool.
We came from the ocean and fishing and completely relaxed in the cooler mountain air and wonderful home. We were a family with adult children and spouses and were able to spread throughout the home comfortably meeting outside by the pool and courtyard and In the evening lots of cards around the dining table. Eric and Suzanne were so accommodating making sure we were comfortable and a must stop at their restaurant, Como Como.
Staying at Casa Blanca was a great experience for our group of nine, which included four teenagers. The property itself is delightful. The accommodations were well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and spacious. The dining room table accommodated all of us. There was a comfortable lounge for people to relax. There is a well-maintained swimming pool but we were there in December and our group decided not to use it.
The property is within walking distance of the center of Antigua and in four days everyone enjoyed exploring this wonderful town. For those who wanted to ride, inexpensive tuk-tuk taxis were available.
The owner, Phillipe, was easy to contact and responsive to our questions.
Our stay was a great success and everyone wants to return in the future and stay at Casa Blanca again. We highly recommend this remarkable property. It is a real find!
6 of us stayed in this cozy home for 4 nights while in Antigua. The house easily slept all of us and we could have included a few more! The beds were comfortable, the showers hot, the pool delightful, and the fireplace was very enjoyable in the evenings (wood is provided). The Wifi worked great. The kitchen and bar had all the amenities needed. Ample parking for 2 cars. It was the perfect colonial villa to stay in for a trip to Antigua.
