About Daniel Whittles

We are a young family that lives full time in Naples. We bought this home as our family escape to the beach! But we are very happy to share it with people who also love to be by the beach!!

Daniel Whittles purchased this house in 2014

Why Daniel Whittles chose North Naples

Naples Park is truly a wonderful location since it is so close to Vanderbilt beach as well as the vibrant Mercato Shops. However, some of the homes are quite old and small. When we saw how large and beautiful this home was we knew we had to have it! We have spent the last 4 months remodeling the entire home.

5 stars if the bathroom was working

  • 3 of 5

This is a bittersweet review because 5 days prior to our trip I received an email by VRBO that our property may no longer available. I contacted the owner (Daniel) first to see what the issue was. I was told there was a plumbing issue in the main bathroom in the hallway (the other two bathrooms are located inside the 2 master bedrooms) and that no solid waste or toilet paper could be used.

This was going to make for an akward trip. 3 days into our stay Daniel met us at the house & said we can use the bathroom and that he would call a plumber to correct the issue if there was an overflow.

The problem with the bathroom is that the foundation on the house is sinking into the drain under the main hallway bathroom. (To correct the issue it would require drilling through the foundation in the downstairs bathroom). We had already begun to make concessions to share the master bathroom and didn't want to end up with a plumbing issues so we chose to not put solid waste down(the hallway) toilet during the entire stay.

The house is beautiful and I noticed no issues. The pictures are accurate except there is not an additional screen dividing the pool from the seating area. The pool and seating area is enclosed under the same screen. We had a 2yr old and kept her inside unless she was swimming in pool.

It is close 7min bike ride to the beach- mostly down a residential quiet street. It is a nice, quiet neighborhood. There are 7 bikes with an accommodation to carry 2 toddlers. We had a great time and My only complaint is I wish that Daniel was proactive to alert his tenants about bathroom issue.

Owner's Response: Dear Mary, I apologize that the bathroom was not working during your stay. I appreciate your honest feedback and will make sure to communicate better with all future guests. If you look to return to Naples, please consider my home again. I will be sure to compensate you for the bathroom issues you had during your stay. Regards, Daniel

Great House, excellent location

  • 5 of 5

This house is modern, clean, well equipped and in a great location, just 5 minutes to the beach and local shops, restaurants and bars. The owner was prompt and attentive to all our requests. We travelled with 3 children and the house is so spacious with a great private pool. Wonderful holiday, we will be back for sure. Thank you.

I would not recommend this house unless significant upgrades and attention to detail were performed. Toilet was clogged consistently; house was not clean; air vents spit out large particles of who knows what onto the beds in two of the downstairs bedrooms; master bedroom fan did not work; screen on the lanai broken; absolutely no staples in the house; four empty salt and pepper shakers; nothing upstairs worked - no hot water to the upstairs shower; we had to replace several light bulbs; we had to purchase pot holders in order to use the oven - we left them there along with numerous staples that we purchased. The cleaning crew arrived as we were packing the car and when told they should come back in 45 minutes they remained in the driveway until we we actually left just staring at us making the kids very uncomfortable. The house has potential but I wouldn't recommend renting until cleanliness issues are addressed and the upstairs is functional.

Very Disappointing

  • 2 of 5

The property was good for housing at least 8 people, but the accommodations would need some upgrades before I could recommend this house to anybody else to rent. TV in master bedroom didn't work, ceiling fan in master didn't work, front door

was broken, closet doors were off hinges, tray in refrigerator was cracked, kitchen sink made loud noises when running, toilet was stopped up. The disappointment continued when the owner said the plumber was to arrive at a certain time and he never showed. In addition, owner needs to have more consistent pest control as the house needs it internally and externally.

The property is set back from the road in a quiet residential area of Naples. It is well equipped, clean and tidy throughout. All the bedrooms are very nicely decorated and pleasant. The covered pool is lovely and the patio a great place to sit out and enjoy a meal or some refreshment. The property has easy access to several restaurants and the beach at the local state park. Whole Foods supermarket is just minutes away for all food and household needs. The owner is a great guy to deal with and very responsive to questions and needs. There is even a selection of cycles and other beach items for your use. All in all a nice house in a nice location.

Great house, poorly equipped

  • 3 of 5

This house is great. It has recently been redone and it shows. The bathrooms are very nice as is the kitchen. The pool was wonderful and we enjoyed the patio. My main complaint is that the house is very poorly outfitted. There were 3 washcloths in the entire house. The silverware in the kitchen was so tiny it looked like it was from a play kitchen. If you want to bake or cook anything, bring your own pots and pans. The ones that are there are nonstick and the coating is peeling off. We also had to go out and buy our own lightbulbs because there were so many in the house that were burned out (including the one in front of the house which was not good since we had elderly people coming in and out.) I did contact the owner via email while we were there and never heard back. I would consider returning to this house if those things were resolved. Also, if you have any handicap people, the bathroom doorways are not handicap accessible.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am glad that you found our house to be well appointed and up to an excellent standard. My apologies that I did not reply to your email during your stay but I was on a family vacation in an extremely remote area and did not have access to emails. I normally pride myself on my ability to communicate quickly with guests as well as deal with any issues they may have during their stay, since I only live a few minutes from the property. In this instance I did not, and I apologize. Unfortunately, coming from the UK we are not familiar with the need and use of washcloths and have never had any requests from previous guests for washcloths. We will of course make sure that the house has a plentiful supply of washcloths for all future guests. Thank you for bringing to my attention the issues regarding the kitchen utensils. All of the items in the kitchen were purchased when we remodeled the house less than 12 months ago, so I am disappointed to hear that they have already started to show signs of wear. We have of course now replaced all of the kitchen utensils that were not in perfect condition as well as provided extra pots and pans for guests’ use. Replacing lightbulbs that have burnt out is certainly something we should have done a better job of staying on top of. I have ensured that the cleaning team checks all lightbulbs in the future to make sure they are working for future guests. It is certainly not right that you should have had to replace anything in the house at your own expense and if you could email me I would be more than happy to reimburse you for any items. We greatly appreciate that you chose our home for your vacation in Naples, and certainly hope you would consider us again now that we have addressed your concerns.
