About this property

Amazing, relaxing riverfront home!

If you have a hard time requesting to book, you can find our number by Googling Rainbow Reel.

PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT NOTES BELOW prior to booking the property!

NOTE>>>>>>NOTE: The site has eliminated all ways for you as a guest to call us and when you send us a request, they have eliminated all ways for us as owners to communicate with you as well, UNTIL, we accept your reservation. So, what does this mean to you??? It means that as home owners, we want to make sure that whomever is renting our place is the right fit for our property. The ONLY way for us to do this is via a phone conversation. The ONLY way for us to get your phone number is for us to accept your reservation. HOWEVER, just because we "accept" your reservation does not necessarily mean that we will truly "ACCEPT" your reservation. We will make that final determination after we make phone contact with you. If all seems legit per our phone conversation, then the reservation stays accepted and end of story. IF, on the slim chance, that we determine that the fit isn't right for our property, we will ask you to go back in and CANCEL the reservation.

Please be aware that by “requesting to book” you are agreeing to our home policies and you confirm you are of the appropriate age and will NOT be hosting parties. We apologize for this note and having to explain ourselves like this. Unfortunately, We have had recent bookings from individuals who aren’t of age or are booking for party’s and our cabin will not be rented in such circumstances. We take a lot of pride in our place and we will protect our investment!

NOTE: You will be required to complete an initialed and signed rental agreement as part of our rental policy. We will email you the rental agreement AFTER we have spoken to you over the phone to make sure the fit is right for our cabin. This rental agreement must be completed and mailed back to us or emailed if on short notice for the rental to proceed. Failure to complete the rental agreement will prevent you from gaining access to the cabin and possibly forfeiture of any rental payments already made.

LASTLY, due to increasing false reservation attempts, we have been advised by Homeaway/VRBO to request a photo copy of the renters drivers license. We may ask for this. False reservations lead to unwanted damages and carelessness and this measure is to verify the person renting our cabin is who they say they are. Thank you for your understanding.

Rainbow Reel was constructed (in 2013) 1,500 sq ft home that sits directly along the banks of the beautiful White River in Newaygo County.

We welcome your inquiry. Contacting us by finding us on Google under the name Rainbow Reel will allow us to give you the best service and answer any and all your questions with ease.

The home offers three bedrooms, two full baths, main floor laundry, a large great room/kitchen/dining area combined with a 21 ft high ceiling. The interior of the home is decked out with Up North cabin décor throughout and the entire great room, loft and upstairs bedroom has knotty pine. The main floor has a beautiful dark walnut stained, rustic circle sawn oak flooring. The inside of the home has a very rustic feeling atmosphere yet, has all the modern conveniences of a modern home.

The 3 bedrooms are as follows:
The Bear Den has a queen cedar log bed.
The Mossy Moose has a full over full cedar log bunk bed.
The Loons Nest has a built in queen bed and also a built in twin bed.
The home will comfortably sleep nine individuals when doubled up in beds (except the twin)
Dogs (Max. 2) welcome for extra pet fee. Short, medium length hair dogs preferably. Long haired dogs such as German Shepherds, Huskies, Mastiff, etc. might not be allowed without prior permission due to large amounts of shedding and family allergy! Ask us about your pet.

We want our cabin to be used primarily for family memories. It's not for you and your group of friends to use as a party place. If you are looking for a place where you can TRULY RELAX, unwind, recharge and accomplish all of this with the utmost privacy, then this is the place for you.
HOWEVER, if you are looking for a place to party, then PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE!

The home sits on 3.5 wooded acres with 229' of direct river frontage. You would be hard pressed to find a more private and relaxing vacation home. It is like you have the whole river to yourself.

The river is great for kayaking, canoeing and tubing. It is also very well known for its trout fishing. (Tubes and Kayaks NOT provided. Please bring your own items for floating down the river)

The home has a large deck and a fire pit that overlooks the river. We will even provide the firewood.

All bedding (for the 5 beds) is provided, dinner service (plates, silverware, etc) provided as well. Pots, pans, blender, crock pot, electric griddle, coffee maker and various other small kitchen appliances provided. The only things that you have to provide would be your own food and drinks.

Outside we have provided a 6 place patio table/chair set under the pergola on the deck (early spring through late fall). We also have a beautiful 3 season porch with a 5 piece, cushioned conversation set which is absolutely amazing to relax and watch nature.

On the deck you will also find glider rockers and a small beverage table (early spring through late fall).
There is a 6 ft picnic table, a 2 person wooden swing and various other chairs for sitting around the camp fire at the rivers edge.

We have also provided a GAS GRILL.

There is NOW WiFi Internet Service provided at the cabin! NOTE: T-Mobile DOES NOT WORK IN MOST OF MICHIGAN including our cabin area.

Holidays require a 3 night minimum.

The cabin remains available on a first come first serve basis until we have a paid reservation deposit.

Cabin availability changes quickly. Certain times of the year, our cabin books months in advance and our best advice is that if we have the dates open that you are looking for, we urge you to reserve the dates quickly.

Our cabin sleeps 9 and is designed for 9 or less, (5 beds, so read above what beds we have) but we are willing to allow up to 12 individuals to occupy the cabin but we prefer not to have more than 9 adults.

Our cabin is strictly meant for relaxation, family gatherings, family vacations or a romantic get-a-way. Again, this is NOT a party cabin and we don't rent out for large family reunions...meant for small family gatherings. Every situation is looked at individually so please contact us with your request and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs.
NON-SMOKING Cabin.

Peak Summer weeks are in VERY high demand and are from Saturday-Friday only (unless otherwise specified) and require a 6 Night Stay! Shorter stays are granted, however, the same rate will apply (again, this only applies to PEAK SUMMER WEEKS)

Today is the day to reserve your spot at one of Michigan's best kept cabins. Thank you and happy vacationing!

Also, please note that we have a pet fee if you are bringing a dog. We ask that you check that box on your reservation request because it saves a lot of hassle to correct it when we find out a dog is being brought with you.

UPDATE: VRBO cancellation policy does not coincide with our cancellation policy so here is how our cancellation policy works.
If a cancellation is made 60 days or greater prior to check in you’ll get a 100% refund.
If a cancellation is made between 59 days to 21 days, you will forfeit 50% of the total agreed upon rental amount for the reservation that was made. (Example: if the total rental was $1200, you will forfeit $600 of your rental payment)
If a cancellation is made 20 days or less, you will forfeit 100% of the rental amount paid.

Thanksgiving Getaway
Property is very nice. Just having a fire and listening to the river should be enough for anyone to relax. Communication was exceptional. Literature provided inside the house was better than using google! Many things to do and places to eat. Host is an A+.

A beautiful family tradition
This cabin has been immaculately kept since the first time we stayed here. It is now a special tradition we keep as a family to at least unwind and disconnect once a year here. The owners truly go the extra length to make sure guests are happy and comfortable from fall decorations to dog bowls. We have zero complaints. We took advantage of hiking and steelhead fishing this season and coming home to this warm cabin was the best!

Fantastic Property
If we could give Beth and her rental property 10-stars, we would! The cabin has a fabulous layout and is immaculate, while the landscaping is exceptional. Beyond that, Beth communicated everything we needed to know before arrival and was very responsive. We would definitely stay again.

We love being able to share our property with other responsible families who will treat our cabin with the care that we would.

Why they chose this property

We have always wanted a vacation home with that 'Up North' cabin décor/feeling on a river and after many years of searching for a nice buildable piece of property to build on, we finally found this property.

We then spent most of 2013 building the home/cabin ourselves and we made it a point to make sure that it meet all of our 'Up North' feelings and a place that was completely different than a standard home. We know that our cabin will leave you as breathless as it does us.

What makes this property unique

From the outside, the home looks like any modern chalet (with some unique siding features), but upon entering the cabin, you will find yourself in a rustic, yet modern, 'Up North' cabin feeling.

As soon as you walk in the front door, you will step into the Great Room which is decked out with knotty pine walls and ceiling and a rustic circle sawn oak hardwood flooring stained with a dark walnut stain.

You will also notice a full sized 1930's cedar strip canoe hanging in the rafters. The canoe is also wired with lighting for those romantic evenings. The great room has a really neat trout fishing theme to it with some really neat lantern style lights in the dining and kitchen areas.

The bedrooms are themed to add a unique, yet fun touch to the property. We have, The Bear Den, The Mossy Moose and The Loons Nest for bedrooms. The Loons Nest bedroom has some very cool and unique built in bed options.

Another unique feature is the built on wall shelf over the slider door and windows that face the river. We have several cabin related decorative items on this shelf.
