Villa La Marina is the ideal holiday villa in Moraira on the Costa Blanca. Situated in a quiet select cul-de-sac in the exclusive and tranquil area of Pla del Mar in Moraira (click our website link below and find us on google earth). 200 metres from the sea, close to the marina. It is a very short stroll to the beautiful cove and restaurants at El Portet and village of Moraira. We live and work in South Devon, UK. We live in a tiny rural hamlet with our two children and many animals including donkeys, chickens and ducks. We had hoped to buy a second home for many years, and made several unsuccessful house-hunting trips to Spain. We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful thatched farmhouse that we love and we wanted to find a special property that we could make a true second home in the sun. We tried to avoid a new unit on a pueblo style urbanisation at all costs! Since first owning La Marina in 2006 we have had great fun and satisfaction improving the house and garden to create our ideal holiday home.
Since we first bought the property we have made substantal improvements to the villa, including extra bedrooms, new bathrooms and kitchen. We also added pool heating, air conditioning and many other home comforts. We have tried to make it our real second home.
As our work at home is very seasonal, we usually stay in the villa in Autumn and Spring, the wonderful climate means that we are able to really enjoy the outdoor life whenever we are there.
SALLY HARRIS purchased this villa in 2006
We stayed with friends in Moraira, loved it so much, that 2 months later we had bought Villa La Marina. Moraira had everything we were looking for that was lacking in other Spanish Costas. This beautiful working fishing village has a friendly village atmosphere, wonderful scenery, no high rise building and plenty of local character. Our villa, with great sea and mountain views is a very short stroll to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. We rarely use the car there. We are very happy to see our children enjoying the freedom of this charming village – a friendly and safe place. Only 2 hours from the UK. A great location to explore SE Spain – About an hour to stylish Valencia or Alicante, 30 Minutes to Benidorm with theme parks, shopping, golf courses, or up into the hills to see rural Spain too.
Location, location, location. Villa La Marina boasts fabulous panoramic sea and mountain views that many guests comment on and remember. It is in an ideal position to walk into the village or to the the beaches. The villa and garden, designed with a great deal of thought and enthusiasm – we are a family of keen gardeners and artists, enjoying refurbishing this traditional villa. The heated pool, terraces - with both sun and shade, table tennis, with a new barbecue and many outdoor dining spaces mean that guests often spend most of their stay at the villa. It has been furnished in eclectic style with Moorish furniture and decorations that you see only in the Mediterranean. It is very private and safe villa in a totally walled garden with electric gates at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Thanks for a lovely stay in Villa Marina - as always its our absolute favorite place to stay !
Best regards Lisbeth
What a fabulous villa! The main snapshot was what made us select this place, and it perfectly conveys the tranquility, elegance and sheer delight of holidaying here. My family and I had a great time and enjoyed every minute of our stay. From sitting under the palm tree by the pool all day (the perfect mix of sun and shade!) to dining on the terrace (where else!?), we felt perfectly spoilt by this amazing home away from home. As an added bonus, the Moors and Christians festival was happening in Moraira, so we didn't have to go far for evening enteratinment. We'll definitely be back!
We visited La Marina in the summer as a family of 6 adults, a nine year old and a 10 month old baby. We followed directions that we’d received from Sally and Chris, the owners, before we left and found the villa easily.
La Marina is plenty big enough for 8, and there are lots of outside areas for you to have your own space if you want it. The kitchen is very well equipped and we had great fun shopping in the local supermarket (taking full advantage of the fresh Spanish shellfish), and then cooking it on the built in BBQ at the villa and eating at sunset. We also enjoyed a big breakfast every morning around the large table on the balcony, shopping for fresh baguettes and ham and cheese from the nearby bakery and convenience store.
We really appreciated the English TV channels, especially as it was the Olympics when we visited and it was great to catch some of that during our holiday. We had HOURS of fun in the pool, it was a perfect size even when we were all in there and ideal for the baby as we could leave her quite happily floating around on her little inflatable flamingo without the worry of her being disturbed by anyone else. There were also lots of books, dvd’s, and board games in the villa so if the weathers not so good, there is still lots to do (although it was glorious the week we were there).
Moraira itself was a beautiful town which we explored daily with it being only a lazy 15-minute walk from the villa to the shops, bars and restaurants. The highlight of most days was choosing where to eat, and we enjoyed every meal that we had. El Cafetí de la Mar was especially good, as was the Olive Tree restaurant which was amazing value for money but is a short drive away.
We enjoyed playing table tennis in the villa, the crazy golf nearby and visiting the closest beach where the water was really warm. A couple of us also walked down to the sparkling sea for a swim each morning which was rather idyllic.
We had an amazing holiday mainly because the villa was perfect for us and the worst part of the holiday was having to leave. The view alone sells this villa but it also has a perfect location & amenities, with every little thing being thought through. You really can tell that this is a place that the owners love to stay themselves and they have made it feel like a home from home.
We will never forget this holiday and will definitely be returning to La Marina as soon as we can.
This was our second visit to Villa La Marina as a family. It was absolutely perfect for us, every thing was perfect even the weather! So much so that we have booked again for 2017 as the villa and Moraira suits us all down to the ground. We highly recommend this Villa.
We have just had another lovely week in Moraira. The villa was spotlessly clean when we arrived, the pool was crystal clear and the air conditioning was essential at night as it was still hot in the evenings. The gardens are a delight and beautifully maintained. Thanks again to Sally and Mike
This villa is truly amazing, I highly recommend for a family holiday. We have stayed in Moraira for the last 10 years or so and this is the best villa by far that we have ever rented. As a family we are 6 adults and 2 children, (1 toddler and 1 baby) everything was taken care of, the cot, the stair gates we could not have asked to be looked after better. So much so that we booked our family holiday for 2016 the day we left Moraira! Thank you Sally & Mike for your attention to detail, your villa is fabulous!
Villa La Marina is simply stunning. Sally & Mike have made their villa feel so homely. The villa is equipped with everything you could ever need to enjoy your holiday stay. The location is amazing, just 5-10 minutes walk to either El Portet to the left or Moraira / Marina to your right. Great views over the marina when sat on the fabulously furnished terrace enjoying your the sun. We stayed over Christmas & Sally & Mike left the villa feeling very festive, the log burner was very cosy. Moraira is a beautiful little Spanish town which we have visited many many times. It has beautiful restaurants; and every time we visit we always try and hunt out new ones to try. We love The Olive Tree which is fantastic and did a fantastic Christmas menu. La Serenna do an amazing menu and we can recommend the chateaubriand which you cook yourself on a hot stone (ask for the red wine jus for one off the sauces). Le Soleil, Del Mar & La Sort were all consistently good as per usual. Thanks again Sally & Mike, we hope to stay again soon.
Moraira is an unspoilt traditional fishing village located on the Costa Blanca that is only around a 1 hour drive from Alicante or Valencia airports. Moraira has been sympathetically developed, retaining all the old Spanish charm. It is known as the jewel of the Costa Blanca. There are many fine restaurants, bars, and shops. The town has a blue flag award-winning, clean and safe sandy beach, as well as another lovely sandy cove at El Portet. There are many excellent golf courses nearby.
